  1. Not 100% sure on a way to test them, I think when I did mine the new ones I could hear rattle if I shook them the old ones were solid with an oily gunk and made no noise at all.
  2. Have you ever replaced the PCVs? I would think that could cause some oil in there, but if it really is a lot then could well be something else.
  3. I was told when I did mine to stay clear of cheap alcantara as it is known to rot and either choose top quality (expensive) alcantara or the cheap imitation.
  4. Most dynos will take the reading at the fly, if you have that much power in an NA (lighter, different gear ratios) you should be blowing TTs away daily.
  5. 248 at the wheels for an NA is fantastic wish mine was that good, in fact I bet theres a few TTs out there that would like a figure like that.
  6. are you saying that wozzers NA was dyno'd at 248bhp at the wheels?
  7. Leave the cap off while its running, squeeze all the water pipes you can see while its running to help remove any trapped air but be careful of moving/hot parts, once the thermostat opens you may see the water level drop in the rad depending on wether any air was trapped, doing this and filling the cooling system with the front of the car raised can also help. Once you feel you have done all you can take the car for a spin while keeping an eye on the temp, and glugging sounds or overheating would indicate air still in the system.
  8. And as previously mentioned, the standard temp guage is crap, fit an aftermarket one and you will realise just how much hotter it can get while the standard guage stays at normal. For anyone else reading this, please try not to drive the car after it has overheated unless you really have to, if you do then let it cool right down first and only drive a short way, you could well be giving yourself a bill for over a thousand rather than £20
  9. I leave them off if I feel I can my alarm is pretty good and has never gone off as a false alarm while they are off, the fitter recommended a different type of interior sensor as it was a targa top and the second any puts an arm inside the car it will go off, wouldnt leave them off anywhere too busy as you know some scum is going to love flicking his fag end in there if he can.
  10. If you want a garage to look at it there is Bramford Motor Engineering in Ipswich, they have worked on a few Zeds including mine and something like a cooland leak shouldnt be too hard for them to sus.
  11. Think I would have called a tow truck out rather than continue driving it, could be be any nuimber of things, as you saw the water leaking from behind the front wheels I would look at the hoses behind the engine to start with but check them all and the rad and make sure its all flushed through and has antifreeze in it, the whole cooking system is getting pretty old and will probably need a complete overhaul.
  12. I am owed 2k and would probably sell it on after a month or two so think I might give it a miss and take good old cash as I dont want the hassle of a pup, thanks guys.
  13. just to add to this, obviously if it does work it will only cover the problem up, will be a good idea to get whatever has caused the emissions to go that high sorted, start by looking at the o2 sensors and ECU temp sender etc, would pop round with my conzult but its a bit far, your welcome to drive down here tho.
  14. had to be quick the poor guy was loosing it.
  15. that will help as well
  16. This should help clicky click
  17. Can anyone tell me some details on this car, I have been offered one as payment for some work I have done and know nothing at all about them so any help is appreciated. The car is a K reg Subaru Impreza turbo WRX 90k miles running 0.8 bar boost and looks to be in very good condition. anything you can tell as in what they are worth what BHP they have would be a help. Thanks guys.
  18. Mine has been in a couple of years and looks as good as new but I dont have a choc labrador.
  19. I went for alcantara as well, to me its a lot better than leather and offers a bit of contrast as well, definately a lot easier to work with.
  20. I used some of that two part metal mix stuff, you mixed the two together with your fingers like plasticine then its stays mouldable for a few minutes while I pushed it into the hole where the origional clip goes making sure to push loads through and leaving it slightly proud at the front so once set it doesnt ever move, drill and screw the A pillar into it. Solid and have taken it down and put it back up a few times while trying to sort a slight TT leak still as good as new.
  21. :slap: whos digging up old posts again :p
