  1. Cheers Andy, I have never had to remove a stud before, is it just a case of gripping it tight with molgrips and turning?
  2. Hi Andrew, not too bad thanks, does anyone know what size die I need to do this, would start off going over it with the standard size then go smaller if needed, I could give it a go as there is nothing to loose.
  3. Hi all, someone used the wrong nut when putting my started motor back on and has ruined the thread, never had to tackle anything like this before, does the stud come out and can I get a replacement from Nissan? if it does how do I go about getting it out and replacing it, any help gratefully received, Richard.
  4. Did mine as well this year, definatley recommended.
  5. AndyZ is the person to talk to about trying a PTU, he is near Snetterton and will have second hand ones on the shelf ready to fit.
  6. It can effect 2 cylinders only and could be any of the cylinders, doesnt matter which side.
  7. Second hand they are about £30 although it may well go again, much better to get a series 2 PTU which are much more reliable, there is one for sale on here for £100 and I think new they are around £150ish, are there any members in Norwich that will lend you theirs? its simply unplugs so very easy to try.
  8. Its number 5 on this picture, simply unplug and plug in a known good one to see if it cures the problem, a lot easier than pullling the plenum off. 1. Air Intake Hose 2. Turbo Hose 3. Power Steering Reservoir 4. C.A.S (Crank Angle Sensor) 5. P.T.U (Power Transfer Unit) 6. Windscreen Washer Bottle 7. Engine Coolant Tank 8. Fuse Box 9. 6 Coil Packs 10. Oil Cap 11. Radiator Cap 12. HICAS Solenoid 13. Radiator 14. E.C.U. Water Temperature Sensor 15. Dashboard Water Temperature Sensor 16. Fuel Filter 17. Brake Fluid Reservoir 18. Clutch Fluid Reservoir 19. Brake Servo 20. Air Filter 21. Throttle/Cruise Control Cable
  9. Hi mate, what dealer has your car? as Andy has said pulling the plenum off is a big job and I would only want it done as a last resort, my main thought is that when a PTU goes it can be intermittent, similar to when you described it misfired in the morning then was fine till later, also this could mean that when he tested for a spark it was there and possibly lead to him presuming that it must be fuel, hence I asked has he checked for both a spark and fuel. Running conzult on it may not show anything up, but also it may show the exact problem and is a 10 minute job, I am guessing he doesnt have Conzult hence he said that.
  10. I guess he has checked to see if there is a spark or fuel getting to these 2 cylinders???? still think its the PTU myself.
  11. I guess thats where the only stumbling ground is, its way too easy to say something innocently and admit liabilty.
  12. slickpete is a long time Zed owner and trusted member, I have not seen his car but if I had to buy one without seeing it this would be the one I would go for.
  13. Bids to £2200 for an auto without leather and still 5 days to go?? I have been watching ebay for Zeds for nearly a month now looking for a daily drive while mine is off the road and they usually finish about £1600 with most of the bidding done in the final hours. I would definately not buy a TT off ebay without seeing it and taking it for a good long drive, I understand that is difficult with you being in Ireland and would recommend buying one off here if seeing the car in person is a problem, you can read back through the owners history on the site and see all the things he has to say about the car, a little bit more security and peace of mind for you.
  14. The connectors to the coil packs are the ones you see in the gaps of the plenum (big silvery thing on top of the engine) there are loads of connectors all over the engine though and they could all need a clean, to check the PTU find someone local and swap them over to see if that cures it and same for the AFM.
  15. Did you get any warranty? Tell them to look at the PTU, AFM and electrical connectors as mentioned above.
  16. If Andy still has it and wants you to take the whole tailgate I could go along and collect it then remove the spoiler and send it one its own if its any good to you Smithy.
  17. Happy Birthday Jaffa :duffer: :duffer: I wont ignore your thread Hunni :)
  18. And just for good measure heres another set of wheels, this time polished by myself.
  19. 5000 (miles per yer) / 200 (miles per tank) = 25 (fills a year) £58.5 x 25 = £1462.50 (money i estimate on fuel per year) I know many people say they get more than this per tank, but I think its fair to say this is a much more common average miles per tank from the many threads on the subject, I know at very best and driving like a granny I get 220 per tank and mines a well serviced example with no faults.
  20. Just for future reference what was done to sort the problem? someone searching in the future with the same problems might find the information useful.
  21. Mine was fitted at Ipswich Car Radio and cost about £600, I am pretty sure Bob has said before that he can supply and fit Clifford although he prefers Toad.
  22. Hold on, I said they get slated because of poor fitting, I have had a Clifford G5 alarm fitted for 3 years, never had a false alarm but always goes off as it should when I test it, mine was fitted by a long standing professional that had fitted many to Zeds and an owner himself. I personally would recommend one and would have another without hesitating. :p
  23. They really do have a bad reputation.
