Richards ZED - ITS FINISHED !!!
Some ******* has been interfering with my car last night!!!! For some reason they've ripped off the rubber seal that goes down the left hand side of the windscreen, and smashed the latch off the back gate. Not sure if they were trying to steal it (by taking the windscreen out!?!?) or what, but the car is in a quiet private parking area not visible from the main road, and the side they damaged was against a wall so not the obvious place to do some malicious damage. Thats all the damage I can see. Now I'm worried leaving it out there!!! Time to install a big f*ck security system on the car and on the parking area methinks!!! Arrgggghhhh!!!

What's this light?
Slim, sorry to hijack, but I noticed that light coming on a couple of times today as well. I have a new exhaust on, and it may be blowing a bit at the front (not investigated the blowing yet). Nothing else has changed on the car (especially relating to PTU). What else can cause Cat overheat, and could it be connected to the exhaust blowing (e.g. hot exhaust blowing over sensor!?!)?? Cheers Rich

Advice - lowering - yay or nay!?!?
nuts. Had about decided on the Blitz when I spoke to GPS and they recommended only the Eibach ones. However they are out of stock in the UK. Since Macca and others have the same arch kit from PPS, am tempted to go with the Blitz option same as them!! Anyone know where I can get them at short notice - Grasshopper said there was a 6 week waiting list!!! Anyone got any in stock!?!? Thanks Rich

Advice - lowering - yay or nay!?!?
Bilky - sorry, for some reason I put your name as blitz in the last post. :slap:

Advice - lowering - yay or nay!?!?
Thanks fellas. Spoke to Chris and the eibachs are out of stock in the UK. 4rse. Does it sound like the Blitz are the way forward or are there others!?! Not sure 20mm will be enough at the back. Blitz - the zed IS low enough for me in stock form, but having had the wide arch conversion done, the gap between the wheels and arches is slightly bigger and detracts a bit from the overall results. Am a bit concerned about speedbumps though!

Preview of my DIY widearch job
Maaaan. When I saw PPS cutting into mine I was terrified, but to do it yourself!!! Guts mate!!!   Looks awesome - well done fella!

Advice - lowering - yay or nay!?!?
Guys, I need some advice!!! The car is about finished, but now that the rear wheel spacers are on, it is apparent that the wheels (19" khans) do not quite fill the rear arches. It has been suggested that I lower it - about 30-40mm rear and 20mm front. I spoke to luke at Z centre and he advised me not to do it. I realise that lowering the back only will make the point to the sky, and that lowering the front a bit will make speed bumps a bit more of an issue (especially as the viper bumper is pretty low anyway)!! I know there are some knowledgeable peeps here and am hoping for some advice on what to do, where to get them, how much and the potential problems. Should I read somewhere about progressive springs, is there any feedback on them?? Should I replace the shocks as well? If so, what do you recommend, where, cost etc. Thanks Rich

Local Elections - June 10th
FFS. This country has its problems, but despite the propaganda spouted by each and every party, none of them will solve every Briton's issues with today's Britain. There are too many contradictions involved to make everyone happy - pollution vs car tax, poverty vs income tax, humanity towards animals vs hunting for sport. However, I cannot believe the number of people who appear to be duped by the white supremicist bigots that are the BNP. Clearly they will be as good at lying about how much they can solve Britains issues as each of the other parties. Reading through their manifesto today, I agree there are some attractive propositions (transport in particular) as there are in the manifestos of other parties. However, the racist/discriminative undertone of their policies is enough to put me off. Assuming this lot lie as much about what they can deliver as the other parties appear to, all you are doing by voting BNP is running a great risk of ruining the cosmopolitan environment that has evolved in this country, replacing it with unintelligent race-hate and even more discrimination than currently exists. I can hear the cries of "they come over here and take our jobs" already!! I can understand those that cannot decide where to place their vote, and far be it from someone like me to judge those who choose to abstain. However, for me it is a case of vote for the best of a bad bunch. i.e vote to avoid the success of parties that should NOT be in power. All my opinion you understand ;-)!!!

Who Else Is Shi#ing Themselves Over Fuel Prices?
Even the yanks have started complaining about the cost of fuel and they pay well less than us!!! France is quite a bit cheaper than us, and I remember filling up with 99octane Shell 3YEARS AGO in Italy (think it was the precursor to Optimax) for the same price that premium unleaded was in this country at that time. Conclusion - we are being screwed. Thing is I don't reckon the blockade tactics are fair. It aint the oil companies that are screwing us - its our own bloody government!!!

TVR Cerbera?
You're right Tim, the F-type would've been an ace car. Not sure about the wing mirrors at the top of the invisible a-pillars though ...
-
TVR Cerbera?
Ha ha. Actually you're right. The Jag with the big wing on is the A-type Lightweight RS and the wing looks stooopid. :xxx: The standard A-type looks the b8llocks in my opinion. They flare out the front and rear arches slightly, add moulded sills to flatten out the sides slightly (looked a bit boat-shaped before in my opinion) and add "gills" just behind the front wheel arches.

TVR Cerbera?
XKR - paramount performance - very nice. Was thinking of buying one this year (until I ended up with a zed on the drive). Test drove the Racing Green version last year with the Racelogic paddle shift. It didn't have the full power upgrade but was pretty quick!!! I am still thinking about getting one and having the Arden A-type bodywork done in Germany. I spoke to one of the guys at Arden about it. Costs a bit, but I reckon they look fantastic! Corrects everything I didn't like about the XKR shape. Think I'd better start putting thel ottery on lol. http://www.arden.de http://www.arden.de/index.php?id=48

TVR Cerbera?
Good luck mate. I can almost guarantee that (if it is a good one) you will fall in love with it. Few more points ... - I would ALWAYS buy from a proper TVR dealer, - Make sure you get a warranty (they should do the full one as well - I think the half one aint worth paper its printed on). - Preferably the dealer will have serviced it (if not from new, for a reasonable period), check the receipts etc to see what it has had done. People often keep the receipts because they prove it has had x,y,z upgrade done. However this can also show that it has needed a lot of work. - If you decide to buy and are thinking about upgrading the wheels to the 18" spider (tuscan) ones, do it straight away (or agree a price) as the dealer will probs be able to do a deal. They may not be arsed once you've bought it.

TVR Cerbera?
LONG POST ALERT ;) This is an area of which I have some "experience". I owned a '97 4.2 Cerbera for 2.5 years. Cherry pearl, full creme leather, sports exhaust etc. mmmmm  They are unpredictable beasts!!! Not in driveability, but in terms of reliablity ... On the plus side, the performance, noise, experience is second to nothing I've experienced. The popping and banging when you back off, the noise in tunnels etc. - fantastic. No problem (in driver seat anyway) for medium to tall people as the driving position has you almost lying down!! Did 2x 3000+ mile trips round Europe with it (including 18 hours from Newcastle to Geneva in one go) and it was pretty much fine (except adding a litre of oil every 500 miles!!! Racing motorbikes in Italy!! Everyone loved the car over there. Had one fella in a services in Italy with a brand new saab convertable looking at mine, looking at his and then shaking his head. Like the Zeds, there is a comradeship with people flashing/waving as they see each other. Despite the power, they are easy to control. Steering is direct, and TVR's attempt at traction control (aka an extremely long throttle travel) allows you to moderate power easily!! I could even drive it in snow (although wouldn't recommend it). Negative side - As has been said, they can be unreliable. I spent a LOT on keeping mine on the road. I did run it almost every day though!!! Drive shaft snapped when doing a 3-point turn (partially blocked a busty road for about 30 minutes  ), overheated a few times (always in awkward position in busy traffic), and then the clincher, one of the cylinder head studs sheared off, requiring a full referb and costs of around £10k (aka my house deposit). Sounds like a bag of spanners when you start it up cold (mind you it makes up for it when warm). Even when it is working fine, any little noises you hear send you wondering how much it is going to cost. This does impact the enjoyment a bit, as you spend more time worrying. "If I floor it here how much is it going to cost." Despite the costs etc., I was fully heartbroken when I decided to get rid of it  . I almost got my money back when I sold it (although not the costs and upgrades obviously). 4.5 is supposed to be a bit smoother, although they reckon not noticeably much faster. Speed six had problems in the early days, but may be a more reliable choice now!?!? Advice: Don't let me put you off, I had 2.5 excellent years. Be prepared that it will cost you more than your car loan, insurance and service costs!!! Shop around to get a good one (later the better). Remember really low mileage can mean that its been an occasional car (which is fine), or that it has spent a lot of time off the road. Slightly higher mileage obviously means it has been running regularly!! Someone at TVR told me that "TVR spend the same amount on Research & Development for a new model as Toyota would spend on the door handles for a new model". It may be an exaggeration, but explains a lot!!!
