  1. Red G-reg stock Z on the A55 heading towards Holyhead at around 6pm tonight. Also a silver H plate NA Zed in Llandudno "Kroozing.com" meet also tonight!
  2. Not sure about using an electroluminescent light behind the 300zx logo. This day & age blue & white(can use any colour filter) high intensity LEDs are cheap and will last a lot longer than anything which uses the notoriously unreliable inverter circuit which dies the moment it gets a sniff of dampness.
  3. The above method is your best bet IMO. You WILL narrow it down this way. Good luck Dave.
  4. If one of the PTU transistors went short cct then it may feed a constant 12V to one of the coil packs causing it to overheat?
  5.  LMFAO! - Same place as mine!  :D
  6. Lol! I was referring to someone else's earlier post! No worries anyway!! Dave
  7. 1A@12V equates to 12Watts which is typical of a bulb? You've probably already checked the obvious but is the boot light switch knocking off the bulb when closed? I had this and didn't notice until I dropped the rear seats only to discover that it was permanently on! An alarm usually draws around 300mA when armed depending of course on the make and complexity of the design.
  8. That took you a long time   Surely it's our prerogative what any one of us do or spend on our Zeds and to have someone come on here and tell any of us that we're doing the wrong thing ain't too nice. If nothing else, isn't it interesting to watch a unique Z being built and doesn't it provide the inspiration to other members to do likewise and keep the Z spirit alive?
  9. I've got a similar fault, does yours misfire when the boost reaches a certain level? I've been told that if the spark plugs & coil packs test OK that it could be a corroded injector connector but I haven't checked mine yet cos I like beer too much! Shame I haven't got a conzult :D :D Cheers Dave
  10. Judging by what's been done, this car will take off so quick it'll leave it's red paint behind :D - Back to primer  oops I mean silver
  11. I've seen 2 like this. Well worth checking every now and again.
  12. Get the flywheel and clutch kit! - I'm well impressed with mine, probably the best two things I ever bought for my Z. Smithy's service is second to none too.
  13. Cheers Mujina, I'll check them. I'm tempted to remove the plenum and have a proper look at everything but it looks like a nightmare. Ta Dave
  14. Hi. Mine will red line in neutral no problem (still all 6 cylinders firing). The problem only occurs on high boost at higher revs. When you say your coilpack was a mm off or so, do you mean it was sat too high off the plug? Cheers Dave.
  15. Hi Guys, Just wondering if anyone else has had this. Basically the car runs fine until the boost level reaches about 10 psi, it then runs on 5 cylinders but if I let off the throttle it recovers and runs on 6 again. It seems to be worse at higher revs i.e. plays up at less than 10 psi. I've individually checked all the coil packs and plugs and they're all A1. I haven't checked fuel line pressure and noticed that cylinder no.4's plug seemed to have a little fluid on it when I removed it shortly after running it. I thought it could be an injector stuck open but surely it would run badly at lower boost and there'd be lots of black smoke. Cheers Dave
  16. I had EXACTLY the same problem with mine until I changed the sender unit.
  17. What's the point in making a V6 DIESEL?
  18. Wound CAS back a bit tonight and it ran much better but now it's started to run on 5 if I boot it  must be a plug expiring or coil pack :o - I wonder what's in store for tomorrow :D :D. Thanks for your advice chaps. I need to change the subject - Errm - how are PNE doing?
  19. I'm gonna try to find out which pins of the ECU this bloody loom connects to and replace it along with a new det sensor on the back of the engine. I'm gonna use decent wire instead of fookin bell wire too!
  20. It's overdue a new belt anyway tbh, looks like a good time to do it!! Cheers Dave.
  21. I think you're right Andy. Drove it to work today and it was noticeably slower. May have to take it to Nissan dealer or get an inductive gun.
  22. No, we took out the coil pack & put an extra HT lead from the HT output feed via the gun to the spark plug if you know what I mean. Not the easiest method - LOL!
  23. I suppose after such major and groundbreaking changes you're bound to get a certain amount of teething problems, but with a bit of time & perseverance you'll get there mate. ;)
  24. I've found that the manual isn't the slickest of boxes. My auto WAS less like hard work to drive. Surely you'll be glad of it when your melting the tarmac up the strip?
  25. Does anyone know how critical the resistance value of 1MΩ is? I could only find 2.2MΩ resistors in my stash so I've stuck 2 in parallel to give 1.1MΩ. All seems well at the mo anyway. :) I reckon most of these sensors go due to excessive heat. On stripping my old engine down yesterday, I noticed that the plastic plug part of the det sensor had melted completely.
