  1. Matey, i started this thread about heat a while back. If you read the first few replys everyone told me to get an oil cooler upgrade before anything else. Me being me, decided to get a new spoiler etc... before any oil cooler :nono: then 'FRAZZLE' the box burnt out. The answer to your question is yes, your heat will be coming from your gearbox(and exhaust etc..). What im saying is "put a cooler on before its to late!!!". That's if you haven't one on already,if so i'll :x:
  2. Hi matey, have you tried the gearbox diagnostic test on 300zx.org.uk I used it the other month to see if there were any problems on my auto box. Just a thought!!
  3. Cheers for your help. The box is making a bad grinding/whining noise. Looks as if the damage is done. Looking forward to a nice bill...........NOT :( No :duffer: for me this month :(
  4. Gotcha.......you got a right fookin bargin there buddy  LOL. Mac had told me previously that somone off the site had bought it but ive a brain of a fish and if i goto sleep i forget!! Would you pay full wack though? I know extra clutches are added. I seem to be getting quite a good collection of knackerd box's at the mo so if you want one i,ll sell it for £2000. LOL
  5. No offence taken buddy but you may have hit the nail on the head. All i did was empty it and flush it once. Oh, well learn by mistakes. Car moved today but with a really bad noise
  6. Matey, so you believe its worth paying the extra for. Not had much look with box's. One fryed on the way back from japfest then got another and one week after fitting that one keeps loosing drive and is making a right horrible noise. After speaking with Mac i decided to go for the fast box. Its just alot of money as you know. ;)
  7. Just making the final arrangments to get a Nisstek (S.E) fast road box. Who's already got one and how much difference did it make to the drive. Just wondering :D
  8. Was your box knackerd??
  9. Strange thing is that i have just put a cooler on and i took the converter off and emptied it all out
  10. Can anyone tell me any symptoms for torque converter failure. Problem is that i have just fitted another box and i've had drive failure again   . I know how unreliable 2nd hand boxes are but i was wondering if there was somthing else that could relate to gearbox failure. My first box frazzled and had the burnt smell etc but this one is not smelling (yet!!) but keeps loosing drive. I turn the car off and leave it for a few hours and the drive comes back. On my last drive i put my foot down and total slipping  ,also theres a whining noise. Thinking of getting a S.E fast box but would go mad if it's the converter..
  11. Matey......do it now!!!!! I got my Z last year and was told the same. "Get a cooler on before doing any thing else",i was told. I thought ok i'll get i done. Anyway 1 spoiler later, split rims and other bit and bobs were fitted then four weeks ago........frazzle  my gear box went on the A1 on the way back from Japfest. Ok, ive fitted another myself(saving many pennies) but get it done. £150 now is better than a new box later. Ive now fitted a cooler and it does work. Theres not as much heat on the transmision tunnel
  12. First thing i did...the old sniff test. Ive had that experiance already with the frazzled box in the garage. That went on the A1 :( smoke included. Oooo i love these cars ;)
  13. All i did was put a few ltrs in and start the engine. Then went between the different drives then put about 4.5 ltrs in. Went for a little drive then put another litre in. So you recon i need more oil. Hope so
  14. Cheers buddy, i'll let it cool down and check in the morning. Hope i havent damaged the box :( Never ragged it though!!

What a good idea Andy. Ill remember thet one
  16. matey Winmx it great, doesnt cost nothing and you can get anything on it. Its file sharing but you only have to share one file i.e 'my music'. As long as you keep one or two downloads in the file you can get loads + pics, vids. Safe aswell. I havent had any virus's yet but im behind a firewall. Try it!!
  17. Scoops thats what i though. It was my first proper run. Mac came round before i went and checked the level on the dip stick and he said it looked fine. So thats when i ventured out. Wonder if its because i gave it a proper run and the level dropped as the torque converter etc filled up because i emptied that out aswell. Ive only put about 6Ltrs back in.
  18. I have just been out in the Z after finishing putting another gearbox on. All was going fine; not going mad just tootling around the next village until i hit quite a steep gradiant. Thats the point when the gearbox seemed to slip. I lost 95% of drive :( .Managed to get to the top of the hill and checked under the bonnet and underneath the car to look for leaks. All was ok  Problem was that i was at the bottom another hill so i tried 1st gear and it drove as normal. The box i got hadn't been used for 2 years. Do you think its fooked or its bedding itself in.do you think i may need more oil? or could it be the torqe converter? Its an auto by the way. Thanks
  19. Ref the temp guage. Sounds as if the thermostat is stuck. How high does the temp rise when static??
  20. Cheers. Just looked and it says 8.7 litres  no wonder it wont move. Ive only put in about 4.5 litres :x: . Looks like another trip to Halfords and hand over another £20.00  . Worth it in the end
  21. Has anyone got the approx capacity of the gearbox because i dont want to overfill it as i have no sump plug :(
  22. Matey, i could be up for a meet but not this weekend as im putting an oil cooler on my gearbox after frazzling the other one. Giz a shout and we will try and sort sumat out
  23. Buddy, Im sorry i never made it; haven't got my car together yet :( . Just waiting for my cooler to come and thats it  Send your address and ill send some doe as prommised ;)
