BBC quiz- knowitalls
This show started this week hosted by the ever-smug Gyles Brandreth. Won't bore you with the format but it's not worth watching especially as one of the show's 'experts' gave a point to a contestant for stating that in 'fools & horses' Del Boy's three-wheeler was a Robin Reliant!!! As I'm sure we all know if that were correct it would be a Reliant Robin, but of course it was a Reliant Regal supervan 3. Rant over- thank-you.

rattling window
Where is the best place to source the parts required to effect the fix posted by 'Groover' in the 'Body' section- is it worth changing any other potentially worn parts at the same time to save having to strip the door a second time later?

insurance question
I accept what you say, but if there was evidence of bad maintenance I would have expected an insurer to refuse to pay, as they are not providing a warranty.

insurance question
some months ago my son's renault megane (sorry) was parked on a slope. after 20 mins approx it rolled forward into a tree. Apparantly, learners are not taught to leave car in gear as a secondary brake these days! Insurance paid out no quibble ( must have been 3/4 k ). My son maintained handbrake was fully on when parked. On return of car from repair shop he took it back as handbrake wasn't efficient- it was 'rectified'. At Mot in Feb he was told problem with handbrake. It was fixed but no mention on invoice. Now handbrake wont work. Mot station have no recollection of any repair/adjustment & the repairers say that all the insurance company require is to repair damage to the vehicle, not to rectify a fault which may have lead to the incident!! Is that correct? What if the car had rolled into another tree/car only days after the first repair; would the insurers pay out again? If they did and the same incident happened for a third time, would they pay out again? Surely it is in the insurer's interest to ensure the vehicle is fully re-instated to a condition where a recurrence is not likely? Are there any insurance industry people on here who can shed light on this situation?

Eggheads
for my sins I am an avid viewer of this programme! (seems like stellaz is too, judging from a previous thread. Originally there were 5 eggheads, then Barry Simmons? was added and 5 out of the 6 'played' on a sort of a rota. Now he appears to have left coz we're back to the original 5; have looked on a couple of 'egghead' sites but no mention of this. does anyone here know the score?

Speechless, what is it with this country??
You can tell this sort of thing is much more prevalent than years ago as no-one has said they've heard about this on radio/TV- i.e. it's no longer a major news story. violence in society is more prevalent than previously & particularly gratuitous, unprovoked violence.

300zx 1991 introductory video for UK market
Pity it's a Nissan promo rather than a 'warts & all' unbiased review. would be more interesting to hear his thoughts rather than a performing to a script. BTW does anyone have any info/ links to the various logos Nissan?Datsun have used over the years?

Coupe to rag-top??
As well as my Zed I also have a 200sx (s13). thinking of having roof chopped-off to make a soft-top. Have seen pics of Nissan approved 'Onevia' and 240 sx (american) and they look good- have wanted 4 seat(ish) open-top for some years. Anyone on here who can recommend a bodyshop/conversion company to do the work or know of a factory car for sale?

Insurance question
No chance on a refund from previous experience- even claim free you'd only get a percentage (small) back!- check the policy wording. Also don't think ' at fault' has any relevance. Insurers offer a 'no claim' bonus not a ' no blame' bonus. I would be happy to be proved wrong, as would all other motorists.

pension advice
Suggest you contact Mr F Goodwin in Scotland- seemed to get a good pension sorted for himself!
-
What a cnut
Is his pension a 'money-purchase' scheme or 'final salary' based. If the former then it could be argued that as he, and his employer (RBS) & possibly previous employers, have paid into the scheme over a number of years then he is entitled to the benefits built up in his 'pension pot'. If, however, he was in a final salary scheme then you could argue that as he completely baXXXXd it up then he should not be fully entitled. A lawyer would probably argue that he was fully entitle d as job performance has no bearing on pension entitlement. Another point to bear in mind though, his pension would probably be worth even more had he & his like not completely cocked up with the resultant drop in the value of shares & annuities!!

is your licence still valid
If you change address just before expiry of your licence can you supply a new photo at that time & so avoid the £17.50 fee, as it is definitely free to notify change of address!!
