Engine out - what to upgrade/replace?
Most ZX-owners stick to JWT, HKS or Garrett. I decided to go for Turbonetic T04B/46 - BB-5 KKK10. These fit perfect and gives 530 BHP each.(in theory) I have spent £ 200 extra on them to port the exhaust part. This gave a much better airflow, and today this works perfect. I use 2,0 bar at daily use. They have been challenged above that too; at 2,3 bar the OEM crank bearings broke. So the turbos are very good and reliable and I don`t understand why som few use these. :2guns:

Engine out - what to upgrade/replace?
I can confirm what Mikael writes regarding mounts, the OEMs are very good and can take extreme performance. I recommend dual intake but also a big front intercooler if you don`t have them already. Go for a really big one that can provide air for > 800 BHP. One day you will probably decide that you want to go so far....... OEM heads has a limitation around 700 FWHP.

crankshaft bearings??question?
Hi again; I did some research both on the forum but also elsewhere, and most signs pointed at ACL as a bullet proof bearing. Their business is high performance parts, so there are many reasons to trust them. There are different features for the softer OEM bearing compared to OEM, one of them is that it can stand dirt in the oil much better. For you and your high performance engine, I guess you will probably be more concerned with good and clean oil than an average ZX-owner. ACL has 2 metals (OEM has 3) and is harder. The oil is to prevent contact between metals crank-bearings-rods but it is more likely that high performance engines get into situations where metal hits metal, and hard metal will then have an advantage - I believe and hope.

Who has the most powerful ZX in the UK?
Very nice. Although it is built in the UK, it should not be on the list we are listing cars with UK as their homeland. Anyway, we would love to see a dyno with 800 BHP, that is a good inspiration for all of us. Perfect if you can post the dyno result......:gunsmilie:

crankshaft bearings??question?
The OEM bearings are very good. But this is a question depending om what you mean by "performance". Use the OEM up to 600 BHP, perhaps even more. The point is the tuning of your engine. If it is perfect tuned, you can trust the bearings on even higher performance. So everything is about precession in tuning. I use ACL after breakdown of the OEMs > 800 BHP. The mistake was poor tuning, so it is not for sure that the OEMs woukd break down if I did my homework better. Search for the bearings on the forum, then you will understand better what is the best for you. There are many very professional threads about this.

Who has the most powerful ZX in the UK?
I was a bit too fast, new try: .....Increasing from 1,4 BAR ut to 1,8 bar will privide > 100 BHP extra = close to 600 RWHP.

Who has the most powerful ZX in the UK?
Hi again, Mikael; Increasing from 1,4 to 1,5 bar will give you more than 25 BHP more, I guess. Will you take the chance and try? (I have seen your internals, and you should not be afraid of increasing up to 1,8 BAR = > 150 BHP increase from current 1,2 bar and 483 BHP) This will lead you to the top !!:clap::clap:

Who has the most powerful ZX in the UK?
Great, Mikael. Perhaps we see your improved numbers soon, you need joust 17 BHP to be a member of the 500 BHP-division. Macca has promised to return with performance = 700 BHP which will qualify him into a new division. We can hardly wait any longer.......... This thread is based on facts = DYNOS. No bullshit, hopes, dreams are qualifying for the top-power-list.

Who has the most powerful ZX in the UK?
Since none have been on this ball for a couple of weeks, it is to be assumed that this list is the correct list until new power-projects pop up. Please inform if the list needs to be changed. All 300ZX enthusiasts should be proud of this !

Mikael; You`re on the power engine list now.......nice dyno. If you manage to increase by 25 BHP, you are on the top. By increasing pressure to 1,5 bar, that should make the difference. :2guns: Jorgen

Who has the most powerful ZX in the UK?
This company in Norway did the job for me. http://www.turboservice.no/FlowPrep.html I know that the expert in the company is designing turbos for Volvo. I paid less than £100 each turbo for the porting job. They name it "Flow prep". I can guarantee that is has a very good effect. The text is in Norwegian so you will probably not understand it. Use their mailadress or call them, they speak english. I will send you pictures of the turbo on you mailadress, before and after the flow prep so you can see what they did. I experienced back-pressure from 1,5 bar. After prep, I took the engine to 2,4 bar.

Madmax; I must congratulate you for a very professional presentation on your homepage. This is the best I have ever seen. You also have a spec which is very impressive. This must have cost a fortune ? Your engine with the spec you have, is capable for more power than you have indicated in this thread. I have very much the same engine spec as you have except from the turbos, I have chosen Turbonetic T04B/46 - BB-5 KKK10 with theoretical max airflow to support 530 BHP each turbo. My internals are very similar to yours, heads included, and I took it to 2.4 bar which was too much for the original bearings. Now I run it "safely" at 2,0 bar with ACL, the same bearings as yours. So you can without big worries increase to this pressure level. From 1,2 bar to 2,0 bar you will be astonished,- it is a wild ride all the way. Be aware if you get backpressure, you can eliminate this by porting the exhaust house which will make a big difference. This is a very special job which very few can do. If you`d like, I can give you my contact data for this. So again I congratulate you with an impressive project and presentation !!:yes::yes::yes::yes::yes:

Jaffa: Excellent and right to the point!! No more crap, facts only. The above list is the official, PROVEN most powerful 300ZX in the UK. The list will be changed based only by DYNO results. Macca will show his when time is right for him. If someone is missing on this official list, please respond and include dyno sheet.:clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::

Who has the most powerful ZX in the UK?
This is really great news for us Nissan enthusiasts !! We then have the following known high performance cars and projects soon to be completed: - Bobgenie 504 + NOS RWHP - Dan Turner (something really big under way, soon finished) - Madmax 600 ++ RWHP - Macca 700 RWHP - according to himself (see his project under Rides) Some names and cars forgotten?

Can you show your spec?

engine knocking
Just to comment: I did this on my engine, and could not find that one of the bearings were broken, although it was broken. It it worthwhile to try this, if you feel a slight movement, you can be sure, but if you don`t feel it, you can not be sure that is not broken. Anyway, this is a very good advice, try it!!

Who has the most powerful ZX in the UK?
Cut all crap guys, show ut the DYNOs. You have proven engine on 504 RWHP, and have added NOS after that. It is fair to expect that you will increase power. The question is if you can beat Macca`s engine on 586 RWHP. The question of this thread is who has the most powerful engine in the UK. When can you show us an updated NOS-dyno to prove if you can beat Macca?

engine knocking
Yeah, the setup is finally good. But I can guarantee that it has taken years with trial and errors - tons of patience and a lot of money. Yes, I have video and dyno as well. I will show this soon, the 826 FWHP was at 1,67 bar (around 24 PSI) and I have increased pressure to 2,0 bar after that. (the OEM bearings broke at 2,1 bar and I have now ACL bearings) At 1,67 bar the torque was 840 Nm. So the numbers are higher now. I`ll get back with these evidences. It is amazing what this engine can do.
