  1. You need to somehow measure the offset too. Its like trying to guess who dropped the floater at drum and bass nation.
  2. youl melt everything in ya engine bay if ya do that lol
  3. I got loads of hammerite paint i will probably use, Il just paint them black , Hammerite does the job well
  4. Yyyeeeeehaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
  5. you cant bloody see the things anyhow, any colour will do lol ps i was joking about the having ceramic brakes :D i wish
  6. I got a set of ceramic porsche discs im also trying to adapt, were lying around the workshop taking up space. Hmmm i might paint them with some high temp piant, il see what i can come up with :D ooo i think i got some somewhere too
  7. Right ive spoken to a few engineering shops, One called J G engineers in enfield is close and they seem to be keen for the job, Im dropping off my spare hub 330mm disc and caliper with pad to have it measured up see what they come up with. I mentioned mild steel which he said is fine but will rust, what can be used to keep it from rusting?
  8. Hmmmm so i got the hub but i need some spare discs to drive around on till them 13ich ones are measured up lol, any takers :D
  9. lol got one already But thanks, would of been a shorter distance too never mind :D and thanks mjp :D
  10. Please :D want to have brackets made up for my calipers, car is my daily drive so a spare hub i can borrow would be perfect to take to the engineering shop........
  11. Hi danny hmmmm The porsche discs are 318mm. So 330 is enough? i think, I did kinda gather the calipers were creating too much heat for the disc. Anyway i test fitted the calipers just in place to check for any clearance issues. Looks ok to me. The brackets will be a job and a half. Will have to have a 90 bend as the caliper mounting holes face to the rear of the car. As someone mentioned earlier i think i should borrow a front hub and send the disc caliper and hub to an engineering shop to be made up. Anyone have one they could lend me?
  12. yes thats very helpful, im not too far from stansted, Wonder where krsmayo has been lately.
  13. woohooo perfect, I found EBC 330mm grooved and dimpled discs on ebay (not drilled) that bolt straight onto the zed, they are mustang cobra discs and just require a spigot ring to centralise them, obviously they need the adapter brackets which z1 can supply probably for a good price which will then enable you to use stock calipers. At least these wont crack like mine did which are actually mustang discs also. So if ya need new discs then these are available on ebay for £199 and are a big step up from the smaller stock discs, you just have to buy the brackets from z1 or have them made. These i recon will work well with the brembo calipers as the surface area is also larger, from looking at my cracked discs the insides of the disc surface is wasted so the larger pad should hopefully fill this up. Will see anyway. Il be looking into a two piece disc sooner or later.
  14. sooo anyone know of any engineering shops near london who can make me some brackets? those aston martin calipers look very similar to the porsche ones. How mjuch did those brackets set you back apache?
  15. yeah road legal but wear too quixkly for road use and need heat in them, so would be easier to just switch wheels when arriving to track.
  16. i want some other wheels with r888's so i can just use for track
  17. yah thats the one, just the one set so far :D Im wondering if i can use the 330mm discs i have st the mo BECAUSE they are ford mustang cobra discs which are so bloody cheap to buy, i could buy just slotted ones or even plain. Another bonus is my friend can bring home loads of half worn pads for me, he changes them every day some with hardly any wear, my god thats perfect for me. free pads forever :D
  18. much bigger which dissipates heat, problem with stock calipers are they are so tiny they get soaked in heat very quickly. The pistons on these are bigger too. so il have more clamping force and get to use more of the disc surface with the bigger pads. p.s i got these for £100
  19. Well after my epic fail of a track session at castle combe im now on a mission to improve my stopping power. this is what happened to my discs whoopsy.... these are the puppies..... :D Now....where the hell do i start? do i fit some discs that i like then make the messurements to fit the calipers? I was thinking to fit them on my discs i have at the mo then once i have them fitted buy the same discs but without the drilled holes and just slotted. But i have no idea what discs they are, il give z1 a call soon, maybe they can help. The only prob i had with them discs was the cracking, other than that the brakes always felt responsive and never had any fad even on the track. obviosuly im going to have to clear the wheel spokes. Anyone know of a good enginering shop who can messure and make brackets to fit these? they are brembos at the end of the day.
  20. I know what im getting next some proper brakes ffs.
  21. No worries, ive managed to source one now, thanks for the help guys.
  22. z1 13" inch rotors, done about 2k maybe more. I noticed slight cracks before the track though...
  23. heres whats happened to my discs. the cracks are right the way through not just on the surface, scary hey. i sorted my steering out today. wehay
