  1. See if the bracket thickness is the same as the stock lug thickness, thats really how thick they should be.... i tried z1 discs, they cracked, i tried ebc discs, they cracked, now im using 328mm dba5000 two piece disks 600quids worth........ and performance friction pads which imo are the best pads ive ever bought...... been on track with this setup and didnt suffer at all with brake fade and thats thrashing it for ages bedford autodrome is a very harsh on the brakes il tell ya. oh the 911 calipers help alot too :D
  2. hmmmm brackets might be too weak and when they get hot they flex? best to have a better caliper and very good disc.
  3. I believe your talking about Meht? Yes nice guy and ive had alot of help from him also.
  4. or maybe its coz stock brakes are shite? what discs you buying?
  5. hmmm id have to look for them....
  6. na i havent, i know what ya talking bout tho, hmmmmmm anyone got some spare? Ive seen the tein ones which are actually alot bigger and probbaly more effective.... Tbh would be easy to make, maybe 2 jubilee clips with a stainless steel sheet of metal welded to them?
  7. I still want a shot at car of the year, its only fair to finish the year off with all the winners of last years cotm, aint it....
  8. Ok here we go. heres where the ducting is directed, right into the centre cavity just behind the caliper, luckily there is enough room behind my 911 calipers to fit the 2.5 inch pipework i did have to make it oval though. you can see ive had to cut some stainless pipe and shape it to direct the air, it also has a bracket welded to it and bolted to the back of the caliper relocation bracket with the extra thread that sticks out from using a oversized bolt.... Heres where the hose tucks close to the inside arch and then through to the front bumper under the smics. Heres where the cold air feed starts :D heres my old 2 inch hose with home made ducts which tbh is overkill with 2.5inch hose... plenty of air gets throgh.
  9. yeah its not fun when that happens, happen to me twice :( expensive stuff...... even my dba 2 peice disks ahve got tiny hairline cracks, not to worry tho as they are starting to fade now... im hoping the ducting will prevent this.....
  10. ok ive taken some pics, god its cold lol.... gimme a min...
  11. Thats a good idea, the only prob with the zed is there is F all space to fit ducting so ive had to direct the airflow just behind the caliper facing the centre cavity of the disk which will direct air through the vents to cool it from the inside like you have mentioned, so the problem is the air is directed from the front of the disc where the caliper is mounted meaning it will cool from the bottom of the disc first which means less is directed to the top of the caliper where the pads are, im hoping this doesnt affect cooling too much though. I have driven a car with the 2 inch neoprene air hose out the window to test just how much cold air pushes through, i directed the other end to my face and i can say its a lot lol, now im using 2.5inch neoprene hose and its alot better, i did have to squish some of the hose to fit around the intercoolers and wheels etc hopefully shouldnt effect it much, fingers crossed.
  12. thats when you get screwed..... no way out of that one....... anyone know what porsche that was?
  13. You dont need to remove them when you can just bend them back a bit, i kept mine on as it helps with keeping the cold air feed inside the cavity and through the disc vents.
  14. I just finished making my brake ducts, 2.5inch cold air feed from front of bumper to the disc centre cavity, il take some pics 2mow if ya like, was tricky getting it all the waay to the caliper as there is no room for anything so i had to replace both window wiper canister and overflow canister :)
  15. u can get hid lights now for £30 :D
  16. i live palmers green, not far from u ;) dont drive mine much though.
  17. nice zee and welcome....
  18. Shocking isnt it......... thats why im so gobsmacked at costco's price.
  19. ah not to forget the VAT :( well its still around £45-50 in halfords so a good saving.
  20. is this the maf your talking about john? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ford-Racing-Lightning-90mm-90-mm-Mass-Air-Meter-MAF_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem5633afda6bQQitemZ370234350187QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories i would still need a reducer and 80mm pipe... same with the q45 maf, the q45 maf is available for about £80 and i think the air filter im using now can still be fitted to it with out the need for an adapter... What you think John? One thing im worried about is the filter sticking to far down sucking in water not to mention the turbulence it will produce. any thoughts on this John?
  21. Hi meht, maybe we can take a tour up there one day, i believe there is one in chingford? Il speak to you soon.
