Vaccumme Pipes????
I'm a bit confused!!!! As most of you know I've installed new dump valves last week and have compleatly taken off the recirc ones and bunged up the original rubber pipe using 28mm adn 32 mm bungs on the pipes where the recircs came off. My question is the vaccume pipe that was attached to the top of the recirc valves, is it connected to any kind of inlet pipe down there causing a possible air leak as my Z'ed as she feels slightly down on power after putting the dump valves in... It looks like the original vac pipe just connects to a small metal pipe that runs along side the big air intake pipe then as you look at the top of the engine inlets comes from a small metal pipe off them i.e there are 2 small rubber hoses connecting the original up. I have also disconnect the vac pipe from the top of the engine near the balance bar as It looks like it was feeding the front recircs and connected the new vac pipe into there (The red vac piping) for the new dump valves so the old pipe in theroy is now doing nothing.. See pic.. Did a test and took the original vac pipe off and blew down it and could feel fresh air comming out of the other end where the recircs are connected, just need to know if I need to shove a small screw in the original vac pipe or would I just be pissing in the wind as it doesn't look like it goes any where else, just thought the small metal pipe might be linked actually into the big intake pipes or does it just run along side it??? !!!... Thanks for any help guys!!!

alloys - will they fit
No mate not yet!! Just gone for a bit of a performance upgrade after going out in Royal's car that day!!! Now running at 1.1Bar boost, and just added a Kenlowe electric fan to get rid of the Viscous one and added some blow off valves too boot!! Respray comming soon though when my mate gets his arse in gear!!! :D

99 ron petrol has (finally) arrived nr Cambridge...
It's more conbustable and ignites better, a lot of people need it when running higher boost as detination will occur.. Don't have a Z running 1Bar boost and use normall 95Octane fuel.. It WILL detonate and go bang on you!!!! ;)

ECU Chipping
Hi dude, I know it's a 60mile trek but give Richard Brothers a call in Redruth Cornwall who do all the work on my 300ZX and have just recently chipped it was all done within the hour!!! Very reasonable money and they got all the kit + a nice rolling road!!! (01209)212234 Ask for David or Paul and they will be able to do it for you!! ;) Cheers, Jon

Again, like you say it's only a simulated test but you can set the Kenlowe fan to cut in at what ever temp you like as it comes with it's own ajustable thermostat. ;) Just an interesting note on the way home from work this evening I have the interior fans on in the car set to 30Degress so I was nice and warm, then after a quick blast up the duel carrage way the car got hot so the Kenlowe kicked in and did it's thing, it is that efficent at removing hot air that the interior fans actually started to blow out cold air until the Kenlowe switched itself off!!! Need to set the adjustable thermostat to come on a bit later up the tempreature band I think??!!! Also the car never onces entered safty mode once as it was showing a constat 14.4 Bar boost on the rolling road computer and internall aftermarket gagues were also showing 1Bar of boost and don't forget the Z only detects detination below 3000RPM!!! :D Jon- Great day spent grazing knuckles!
No, forgot to mention sort off took that into consideration by sticking 2 little 9" Pifco fans just in front of the intercoolers just to give them a bit of air flow!!! ;) Your right though the IC's still arn't gonna be getting max airflow through them, next time we meet around christmas hopefully you can see the install for yourself!! Definatly I worth wile mod in IMO... :D- Great day spent grazing knuckles!
Basically we got my car to up running temp and then dynoed it on the rolling road with the rolling road fans switched on for max cooling then took the first reading...Then on the second run to ensure full viscous engagement and the easiest way to do this was to have the rolling road fan switched off so there was no air flow going to the car so it was well hot when doing a dyno run then we took the second reading which was down 18.3 on the first. After fitting the Kenlow fan and warming the car up to temp again we dynoed it for a second time.. Sure enough when you nail it in 4Th gear and running 1Bar off boost everything gets bloody hot and then the Kenlow kicked in.. The result on the dyno computer was only a loss of 0.48BHP when the Kenlow kicked in compared to the viscouse which lost me 18.3BHP! Quiet a major difference in my opion!!! The car was making max BHP at 6466RPM and torque figures we're also up!!- Great day spent grazing knuckles!
Have taken some pictures of it in place today but Don't know how to post them on here or is it cause i'm not subscribed yet??!!! (It's says I may not post attachments!) Can e-mail them to you if ya like for all to see.- Great day spent grazing knuckles!
Good one Smithy, it definetly makes a big difference and like I said cause theres no viscous fan drag your accelleration will be much better!!! 80 degress sounds about right to me just keep the bugger cool all the time!! I've got some bonnet vents to go in sometime soon so that should help things even further!!! Hope you get your oil leaks sorted out soon dude!! ;)- Great day spent grazing knuckles!
No mate sorry, had to use my decent T28 360 roller baring jobbies on my new engine!! To good not to use them!!- Happy B'day Autobeast!
Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday to you!!! :duffer: :duffer: :duffer:- sorry, can't help posting this, i'm too proud!
Good work mate!!!- Great day spent grazing knuckles!
Basically it's my old engine which was mint until one of my water cooled turbo pipes failed and caused the engine to dump all it's water.. Stoped the Z as soon as I could but it was too late, cause i'd been kaning it before hand the heat soak caused a small crack in the head which can be repaired but it was cheeper to get a second hand engine from a crashed Z at the time as nissan wanted £900 or something stupid just for a new head! My heas was pressure tested and marked where the crack is cause it's so tiny and not really visable from the naked eye. It's all in bits valves, cams etc and the wiring loom has been chopped into as i needed plugs and stuff for my new engine but apart from that the rest is all there!- Great day spent grazing knuckles!
I'll take some today as I've got the day off again and stick them on here later on if I can!! ;) - Oh Dear:(
