  1. That's great news dude!! Really pleased for you... ;)
  2. Give me a shout when your down bud and we'll meet up for a pint...
  3. We left the car just over 2 hours after the laquer went on and it was still looking fine... We then unmasked hence the last 2 photos with it looking good and then I drove home... Came to it the next morning and the horror had happened!!! I guess we should have just left it in the dry garage overnight... I was too quick off the mark and impatient to get home! That'll teach me! :slap:
  4. There actually Jaguar XKR Vents which I got from Luke at the Z center... The only difference is we blended them in cause most people just stick em on top and done with it...
  5. Yeah we put a big polethene sheet covering up the engine completely... This is what they did look like mate until the cool night air set in a recked it all... :( I want it to look like this again and stay like it this time!!! :)
  6. Nice one dude, so is the general consensus gonna be spray with the AG2 Red, leave it till the following day to see how it looks then if it's still not shiney enough go over it with laquer or just leave it with the original AG2 and polish after a few days??
  7. How the hell did you manage to aquire bugatti veyron brake callipers???!!!
  8. Christ mate, don't say that!! It's my turn to hit 30 next month!!! Is it really that bad??? Happy birthday anyway fella!! And to geeky hawkes!! :duffer: :duffer: :duffer: :duffer:
  9. Everyones being really helpfull on this, can't thank you all enough! Lots of different ideas...
  10. Hi dude, welcome to the club... I know must of us have fitted 6 x 9's into the front doors of our zed's which fit mint but don't know the orignal sizes as my car came with 6 x 9's already fitted.. I think the rears are something stupid like 6 x 4's or something.
  11. Thanks very much dude, and sorry to piss everyone one off here asking so many repeating questions but seeing as we're spraying in a garage and reliant on the ambient air temp, do we leave the red basecoat 20-30 mins to dry before applying the laquer or about an hour?? How many coats of laquer too or is it just a case of spray it on over covering the whole lot??
  12. We're only spraying in a garage though dude so we're reliant on the garage air temp and a warm day.. No ovens for us unfortunatly... :( Just one last question, what do I ask for when I buy the hardner to go with the laquer??
  13. Cheers mantav8, your an absolute ledgend!!! owe you a few beers at a meet one day... :duffer: I'll post the pics when it eventually goes right!!! Thanks for everyone else's advice too...
  14. You've gotta get em off dude!!! Really easy to do, did mine myself... The pipes are wasy to bung up too.. I just got 4 brass bung stops from B&Q, shoved them in the holes, siliconed them up to ensure there would be no leaks and tightend them up with jubilee clips...
  15. Cool, ok so i'm a bit thick on this as my mate does the spraying, so when he's sprayed the base coat of red in 2 pack, do we leave that about 30Mins like Scotty said before applying the laquer... Also, whats the hardener that everyones talking about??? Is that something that mixes in with the laquer or is something that is sprayed on afterwards???
  16. I don't really know but it was looking pretty shiney even before the laquer went on, no hardner of any type was used... It was a case of: Spray the bonett, flush out the old paint and thinners from the compress gun container then fill that up with the laquer and spray.. Guess the red paint would have still been quiet wet..
  17. Ok as you guys know my best mate and myself have been fabricating vents and spraying my bonnett and the end result was looking gorgeous, but I came to my Z the following day and overnight the paint has lost it's glass look and has gone all speckely, textured and feels very rough too touch in fact if you touch it, it leaves your fingure mark embedded in the laquer as i found out when i put my hand on the bonnett earlier... :slap: We don't quiet understand what went wrong because it's all happened over night in the cool night air... Should we have left in the Z in a dry garage over night??? Ok we've obviosuly gotta do it again this week and understand I now gotta sand it all down with 1200 grit but need to know and help in the times needed between spraying the car and applying the laquer afterwards... Originally we sprayed the car in 2 pac paint and then put the laquer on pretty much straight afterwards but think he only put a thin coating of laquer on... I can't remember which type of laquer we used I understand you can get 2pac laquer now as well. Would this have caused the orange peel effect because the laquer sprayed wasn't thick enough or we used the wrong type of laquer with 2 pac paint or should we have left the paint to dry for a certain time before applying the laquer afterwards... It's really weird as the car was fine driving home and the laquer was touch dry, it all happend overnight in the outside air... Please help, ideally we would like to know: 1: How long we should leave the paint to set before applying the laquer coat afterwards. 2: How many coats of laquer we should apply after spraying the red paint. 3: Standing times between the finished end result with paint and laquer before I can use the Z again. Thank you most gratefully to anyone who can help as I'm feeling really down and gutted at the moment because it was looking great and now it's all turned to shit... Here are the pics... Close up of the orange peeled textured laquer... The overall specled effect...
