  1. Black ones are UK type. They're dummy indicators. The true indicators for UK type are inner with sidelight and indicator side by side on the front side of bumper. The black doesn't fade, at least on my 92.
  2. Need to keep it running for at least 20 minutes to get the oil back into the lifters. If it has sat for months unused they can drain right down. Miine does this. Sorned a few years now but starts Instantly even after a few months sitting.
  3. My zed has been parked up a while. The central locking is working, at least I hear it, but the drivers door won't unlock. I've tried to unlock manually from the inside but that isn't releasing the door lock either. Anyone with an idea how I'm going to sort this? Already sprayed in wd40 to no avail.
  4. Nice to revisit. It's been a while. My z is parked outside. It's been off the road for a few years but would start instantly and drive off right now. I've had it 20 years. I have a 350z convertible also which is on the road but also unused a few weeks now. Sensible car is a jag. aren't family commitments a pia when you'd just like to drive but never get the time.
  5. I have BBS RSIIs. I think the fears are 10.5 too and no fouling or arch issues. In fact they look like they always belonged to the car.

Hi, Anyone going to http://www.bvac.org.uk/thirlestane/ ? 3rd and 4th June? I wondered if there might be a 300ZX or 350Z stand?
  7. Mines been running lovely but now thinking to sorn it end August and stick it in the garage to hibernate if I can clear it out enough. Really should do a cambelt change one of these days. Problem is I have the 350z as well and cant drive both as often as I would like.
  8. A bit left of field and not as powerful is the MG ZT 260. This has Mustang 4.6 V8 with a very nice noise. Chassis is sorted by Prodrive. Eibach and Bilstein all round. Tremec box, hydratrak lsd diff. Firm but smooth quiet suspension. Less than 900 made. MG probably lost £30k on each one made. Clarkson demonstrated its ability for drifting, probably still on youtube. I had mine since 6k miles and 2006. It is a great character car if a bit thirsty. I also have a 300tt the last 12 years and a 350z roadster. A forced company car and no space means the most sensible one must reluctantly go. On Pistonheads.now.
  9. Mine is in the best condition its been in for years after a full respray last year. Isnt there something in east Lothian soon?
  10. Blew the cobwebs off it today. Trip to Stirling then a bit of a blast along the Peat moss road home. Going lovely too.
  11. This is on here from a few years back. She is shinier now and the sills are all new. I have one new photo as of the paint job on my phone but am heading on hols shortly and cant figure out how to add it here.
  12. Mines just had a respray! Stock bright red with BBS RS11 wheels.
  13. Hi, I'm still here in Falkirk too. My 300 is stunningly beautiful again having had a full respray. I have been using my 350z convertible a lot lately and my MG ZT V8 might / will need to go because I will have an ecoblue company car shortly too.
  14. Its a good aircon system. You should just get it recharged.
  15. Note that UK TT type rears are different from import version. They have an electronic actuator that switches a valve inside to change the setting from soft to hard. You can replace with the stock cheaper import versions and leave the actuators disconnected.
  16. Also check around the rear drivers side engine bay bulkhead and listen for hissing. The small vacuum pipes to sensors and even the boost guage can split and leak causing rough idle. Often shows as boost guage not going right over to the minus side when idling. Another area to check is the connector below the TPS. When mine had an issue there a wiggle of the connector would suddenly have the idling go smooth again. And as Groover says an injector connector can act up but then you should have 5/6th power and possibly a hot cat light coming on due to unburnt fuel.
  17. With modern tyres and wheels one of the best compromises is 18" X 8.5 front with 235/40 18"s and on the rear 18" X 10.5 with 265/35 18"s. It looks so right with these. The rims dont look out of place and the ride and handling are still very good whereas 19" or 20" can look just too big and ruin the ride. They also have very short tyre life due to the suspension geometry not being designed for such low profile tyres. The inside edges tend to get killed early. You will get many other opinions though.
  18. It's a 4 speed auto plus lock up clutch. 4th is overdriven just as 5th is on a manual box and when the lock up clutch engages it feels like a 5th gear just engaged ever so smoothly. This is because the torue converter slip just got stopped. The original auto box on mine expired around 135k. This is not bad for such a car as this one. The box is the same whether import or UK spec but the software is different apparently with the hold mode which on the UK type just stops it using 4th and makes it seem very responsive. I think it is in fact using the same ratio as a manual in 4th at this point. On kickdown the engine seems to rev to 7000 before changing up.
  19. I've run mine dry after running around a few days with the light on. Silly me. Filled from a can and started and run fine with no issues. Off to the garage and put in about 70 litres to fill it. That was sore.
  20. Just parked my 19 year old red zed at a certain fast food outlet at the weekend and walked in the door to overhear a little lad tell his dad "that man just got out of the fastest, bestest, most fabulous car on the planet!" Nothing like a little exaggeration to make you smile!
  21. If the autobox is overfilled you can also get the autobox dipstick popping up and maybe some fluid getting past the tailshaft seal where the prop will spin it onto the exhausts.
  22. Its normal that when you select air to screen that it also switches on the AC compressor as the system assumes you want demisting asap which the aircon compressor running provides. You can cut it out again by selecting econ again. For the blower fan speeds you cycle the button to select the various settings and this overrides the auto again. Tapping auto at any time sets it back to auto with the compressor running again and fans controlled depending on temperature setting and how different that is from current temperature. Again hitting econ shuts the compressor back off.
  23. pretty straightforward and that low speed cold vibration gone.
  24. Might need the switch cracking open and the contacts all cleaning up. Mine had a similar problem in that the driver side back rest woud angle back but then would not rise back up again. It is more likely that than gears. If the motor runs in one direction it usually works in the other one too. You better know electrics and be brave to crack the joystick switch open as contacts and springs and ball bearings all pop out when you open it. Contact burn was the problem with mine. All fine now but a fiddly couple of hours work.
