IT Help again
Slight update with a picture, still got same issue found nothing yet, but working around by typing slower!! Had a look in device manager again and checked the USB listing under the serial bus one port is showing as mass storage device however the word storage is spelt wrong ( see picture) cannot see that can be right, I disabled it and there seem to be a change, the key touch bleeps are less..... however after a reboot back to the same noise which I have now worked out is only when using a space between words, without spacing you can write as much as you want, also its possible the beep is warning of a hard ware issue ( Google ) is this likely? ATF or PAS oil cooler?

Jeff TT- ATF or PAS oil cooler?
Yes Richard that`s the cooler for the pas, another more of that undeniable over engineering by Nissan and fitted to UK zeds not imports, linking out is the quickest and less costly way to sort the issue never heard of anyone having overheat issues with their pas .... Jeff TT- Engine problem - not starting
Bottom pulley missing its key is bad but would not effect the cambelt timing, as jim said check cams are moving by looking through the oil cap. If you have been unlucky enough to have a snapped belt the chance of damage is unlikely, a slipped belt though is a different thing. Jeff TT- clutch ajustment ?
The splines on the rod are a red herring, they do not engage into anything, the rod is free to turn and it not directly connected to anything and is just a push fit into the clutch booster its is fitted in. Turn the 14 mm nut until it get to the spline section, from there when you turn the 14 mm nut it will turn the rod and this will make the road longer between the clutch pedal and the booster. Once happy with the setting the 14 mm nut needs to return to the lock position however its likely it has tightened on the rod now, so what you do is half depress the pedal with your hand, push hard\sideways on the pedal so locking the rod, and then with spanner move the nut and it will release, you should be able to spin it in to position and tighten. Jeff TT- AT gearbox question
The 3 lights POWER, OFF and HOLD refer to: 1) Power light = when hard acceleration ( kick down) operated for longer than 5 seconds and then gives 10 seconds of sports mode (6k revs change pattern) Note: This is also the light to watch when doing the built in diagnostic. 2) O/D off = simply means the overdrive button is in the off position this means you have only 1, 2 and 3 rd gear, no over drive or torque lock up ( feels like 5th gear) 3) Hold = this is when the hold button is active and no first gear is used, this helps in ice or snow conditions pulling away in 2nd gear to help prevent wheel spin. Note: Hold can also be used as an economy mode, up change is sooner into the higher gears and the gear holds longer before changing down. Jeff TT- clutch ajustment ?
No cable through the rod, the clutch is hydraulic, the rod acts upon the booster and master cylinder mechanically which in turn hydraulically moves the slave cylinder which acts mechanically upon the clutch fork arm and this finally mechanically acts on the release bearing and clutch cover, the yellow and green highlights relate to if the switch stops need adjusting, sometimes these are adjusted to give more pedal throw when particular clutches are fitted, this is when the hight will not match the brake pedal. Jeff TT- clutch ajustment ?
The adjustment method is quite simple, once the 14 mm nut is loose, spin it down to the un-threaded part of the rod, then you can use the 14 mm spanner to turn the nut and the rod at the same time. Check each full turn to be sure that there is some play left because if not you will end up with the clutch pedal holding down the clutch a little which is not good. Note: changing the rod adjustment will not effect the pedal height compared to the brake pedal, only if the switch stops are moved will it change. Jeff TT- 99 Spec 300zx

Think some peeps would consider that tidy! "teenagers" Jeff TT- Sh***y viscous fan!
The fan makes an initial whoosh sound followed quite quickly ( 10 seconds or so) by a reduction in sound and speed, when running at normal running temp its should be quiet, if still whooshing loudly the viscous is no good, surprisingly common issue. Jeff TT- fast blinking indicators issue
Do they flash normally when using 4 way flashers ( hazard) do you have led bulbs fitted in front or rear? Jeff TT- Renault Megane tech help
Yes Tony that is most likely, however the question is if the valves and pistons have had a fall out with each other. jeff tt- Renault Megane tech help
Oh dear all bad, no compression on two cylinders and less the 50 psi on the other two, anyone know if this is an interference engine? will start stripping anyhow. Jeff TT- Renault Megane tech help
Checking cambelt / compression tomorrow hopefully will prove that ok, no running issue or noise before problem, dephaser pulley ( vvt pulley) quiet as a mouse, was checked when car was purchased lat year, Jeff TT- Renault Megane tech help
Renault Megane 1.6i 16v petrol 2004 non starter Not often I ask for tech help here but this has me pulling the remaining hair I have out, if any Renault techs or Megane owners with similar issues here have any ideas please suggest away Ok hope someone can help my daughter broke down last week and we towed the car home, today we spent 5 hours freezing our backsides off on her drive trying to get some where with the non starter and despite "proving" what is not the problem we still have a non starter. So to start with it is a 2004 megane 1.6i 16 valve. The daughter was was driving home quite normally at 30mph or so when it lost power and she coasted to a stop, she said the display in front of here said "injection check" (generic fault code I believe) or something similar, she tried a restart but no go. Several attempts and still towed it back to base. So what we have tried so far: 1)Checked spark on all 4 plugs = very good and strong 2) Checked injector pulse with noid light= very good signal 3) Checked fuel pump= running fine good flow 4) Checked fuel delivery to fuel rail = fine good flow 5) Checked imobilser light= working correctly 6) Checked for fuel in tank= added 2 cans Used a universal code checker that worked fine could see the chassis code and plenty of other parameters and interacted no issue. We did pull one code: cam sensor, however do not know how old the code is appears to have a new one fitted so we cleared the code and tried a restart again and came back code free. Removed and replaced battery, removed fuse box ( lower unit) and inspected with a magnifying glass to check circuit board and looked all good, all fuses also checked. I ran out of time to do any more, when it cranks over it sound like no attempt to fire, the exhaust note at the tailpipe sounds like a good compression pulse. When removing the plugs there seems little evidence of fuel well maybe a little, of all the amount of times we have cranked the engine over there is no sign of attempt to fire or any noise down the exhaust to suggest a cambelt slip and firing with the valves open, will try a compression test tomorrow to confirm the belt timing, if the belt is ok which I think it will be I am just out of ideas next so HELP as my daughter has this theory that Dad can fix anything and I don`t want to let her down..(its a dad thing) Any suggestions would be appreciated. Beat me to it!! just looking through our data base see if we have an email for him, if I do have I will mail him to ask if I can pass it on to you Rob. Jeff TT- Auto Gearbox problems
Ok just to clear up the misunderstanding here, there are a many varients of the zed dash warning light layout, below is a series 1 & 2 import layout for the autobox only. It would appear from your pictures you have a UK twin turbo bezel hence why the problem with the lights, the position remains the same so a mental re-label will be fine for now. Oh twin turbo auto box and non turbo auto box are not really a direct swap, different shift patterns and a different ecu for controlling it, tried it once 10 years ago and it did not work well for us, although others say it has, jury is still out on it in my view. Jeff TT- Trial by media !!
In the light of yet another celebrity ( Dave lee Travis ) found not guilty on alleged historic indecent assault case does anyone else feel troubled by the media and police frenzy on this. Can you imagine 18 months of waiting around and having your life taken apart, your reputation, the very core of your family smashed, and as said on the news the last celeb DLT has had to sell his house to defend himself, all of its seems wrong when taking into the details of many of these cases quite what the CPS were thinking I do not know. With more cases still to be heard in court yet I can see the same happening, in the case of Coronation Street star one of the alleged victims when cross examined was asked to give her memory of the event.............her reply I don`t remember it happening??? when asked how do you know it did then? she replied well I think it did???? how on earth did the CPS find this acceptable evidence??? Now do not get me wrong I would never condone any form of assault sexual or other on young girls but these cases have become farcical and will do damage to any future genuine cases, the phrase the "law is an ass" could not be more fitting at the moment! Jeff TT- Batten down the hatches
The wind and rain in the Midlands has been simply crazy, with yesterday a freak ice storm today constant high gusts and now its freaky gusting the noise is scary, can not image how the North West are going to cope , saying on the news 110mph of the South Cost earlier and 100mph for the North tonight. Red alert for the whole country which means risk to life!!!! Stay safe guys and fingers crossed for us all. Jeff TT - ATF or PAS oil cooler?
