Cambelt advice
A little belt timing guidance on the link below, without an air gun the method Terry has mentioned is a tried and tested way, of course by the time you come to remove the bottom pulley bolt the cas unit and other parts removed or unplugged will prevent the engine starting when flicking the key so it is safe. its been a long time since my last visit
Hi Andy, the ignition live is a slight red herring, it means at least the fuel pump fuse and relay is working, but the pump speed / operation is controlled by a seperate ecu on the earth side. Now this means you can read the 12v but without the earth from the ecu the pump will not run, during normal operation the fuel pump ecu ramps the speed up and down by changing the earth potential not the live which stays at a steady voltage. So you could have a faulty ecu, the pump it self can be earthed to run at full speed to test the pump and see if the engine will then start. The other thing to remember the pump only runs if it sees a cas signal so a loose or bad connection on the cas can cause the same issue, will dig the pump connections in the morning so you can try earthing it on the correct cable. Lost keyway..
Nissan do sell them quite cheaply, chances are it dropped out as without a key the pulley would spin even with a tight bottom bolt, check in the under the car in the pulley its self to see if its jammed in the key-way, as usually water has been dropped out when doing the job did you have a a bowl or similar underneath it? it maybe in there. Alarm/immobiliser issue (won't start)
Is it an auto? if so turn the key to start position and shake the auto lever at the same time just in case the micro switch for the autobox P position is playing up, or try it in Neutral. Jeff

( same age I am now ) madness Jeff

Hicas
Here is a good general link shows how it all fits up, http://www.driftworks.com/forum/technical/79044-fitting-driftworks-total-hicas-eliminator-kit.html but removing the hub to get the bush out is way to much work: there is a method I and others have used many, many times. helps to get the car up high as possible, get to the point that the bush is free of the arm etc. http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?92607-Replacing-Outer-Hicas-Ball-Joints You will need to warm up the outer hub around the bush, be aware a black hot goo will come out, when you think its hot enough wack it through, you may need a couple of tries warming and wacking. Luckily the DW kit bushes fit by hand in two parts, allow the hub to cool down before fitting. Jeff

Hicas
No modifying as such, but the outer hub bush needs removing completely from the lower arm as the Driftworks system has its own push in bushes. (See Pic) Jeff
-
Hicas
Play will be caused by either wear in the steering arm inner bush or lower arm out bush where it attaches, no fluid will not cause and issue, prob best fitting a lockout kit from Driftworks. Jeff

How much is the charge? life is short do you need the hassle? don`t get caught up wanting to be a maverick knight righting the councils wrong doings, concentrate on better things like family, if you do contest though I always suggest paying under protest ( make that clear ) and then make your case for a refund, this stops it escalating to a higher charge and actually in my opinion gives you the higher ground morally, as other said get better pics showing poor condition at night and check the measurements / parking penalty is even legal Jeff

Petrol below £1 !
Hey that`s good news for you UK guys, still makes no sense to me why fuel tax is so expensive in the UK, here in Portugal supermarket Petrol is 84 pence a litre and Diesel 72 pence a litre !! and if you buy using a debit card from the same bank as the fuel station ( shown on the sign outside ) you get a further 2 % discount!! I can fill the wife`s diesel Audi Q5 for 68€ that works out to £49 !!! then less 2 % card discount!! If you was filling your Z up here with a few litres left in the tank it would be around £66 ! UK fuel tax is bad Jeff

New motorway speed camera danger ..
That`s it though, something else to be looking out for and something else taking your attention, long gone those days of doing the "old ton" up the motorway unless you have radar, laser, gps camera alert, anti flash number plates, smoke screen and front mounted machine guns ! when all you needed once was local knowledge..... then again 100mph did actually seem fast then ha, ha. IT spam question
We all get spam mail and sometimes I just delete and move on and some times I check the source and then move on, but the one below I received today bugged me, clearly trying to get you to click a link to goodness knows where, despite the spelling mistake on the word “inconvenience “ I guess some would be fooled. But five minutes checking and the source came back to a newly registered domain name GOOGLEACCOUNTSUPPORT.COM and via a UK Registrar company WEBFUSION LTD. A known spam mail as reported here: http://myonlinesecurity.co.uk/google-id-profile-inaccurate-phishing/ How is it these companies allow anyone to set up domain names that are clearly fake and will be used for the purpose of spamming ?? is there no regulations or regulatory body that over see this? or if so anyone have a link?
