  3. Ok so this afternoon we have been on bash duty setting up the workshop and rest area`s for you guys, lets hope the weather is good to us so we can have loads of photo`s for those in convoy will try and capture you arrving on video or at least normal pics ( loads of good parking), any one know how to post up phone video? MP4is that right? not my area of expertise!! So back home now and the kitchen is in full swing with Lynda at the helm as it were, loads of sausages in onion gravy in the oven and minted lamb in the slow cookers all on super low to cook over night and then transport to the workshop early doors. Now if you was not at the last bash you will not of sampled Lynda`s sausages in gravy on a bab or cob or what ever they are called, simply wicked! Tea, coffee, soft drinks, buscuits, cakes , chocolate donuts, choclate chip muffins, etc. etc. and enough cups and plates to go round hopefully. All have a safe journey and look forward to seeing you tomorrow!! Jeff and the Zedworld Team. (Jamie Lynda and Danielle ) PS Don`t forget you £1 coins for the raffle ALL proceeds to Great Ormond Street Hospital
  4. As Leo said that is exactly right, there was originally a gap pressed into the lower wing lip and the inner sill to let the water out but 20 years later there is often many ways out for the water!! The random electrical problems could well be caused by moisture in the fusebox and / or wet electrical connections, the route the water is supposed to take is down the tube and out behind the front wing, the water comes out between the gap between the wing and sill area...not the best but seems to work. Unfortunately even if the pipe is off like in the original thread some of the water still comes out by the wing so it can look like all is good when its not! removal of the fusebox is the only way to be sure Jeff TT
  5. In stock on the shelf £35 + vat fully tested, 30 mins down the M6 from you in Coleshill. Jeff TT
  6. Soooo.. much easier on that side, still an upside down,, neck twisting arm wrenching, ear squashing, finger breaking job though...other that not bad. Jeff
  7. Mmm... if only we know what Nissan was thinking eh? can mail you the full pics if you want them. Cheers Jeff
  8. The servo and the clutch both have their own one way check valve, these can sometimes fail, easy to check by just removing and make sure you can only blow one way. Another thought is was it an auto that was converted to manual? and wrongly only one valve was used, seen this a few times, means the brake and clutch boosters interfere with each other, and finally the clutch boosters themselves can fail and leak. Jeff TT
  9. Targa drain issues have been covered here many times, I did a tech on the passenger side one some time back, but as a good example of a drivers side one came up today I took some pics along the way. So targa drain issue in general is due to disconnected pipes and the result is wet carpets on both sides but in addition on the drivers side damage can be caused to the fuse box and / or the connections. So as per the Nissan style getting to the problem is the biggest part of the battle, removing the seat, knee pad, heater ducting and fuse box access panel is just the start. So the targa pipe was tested by dripping water down the targa channel and it quickly showed itself in the foot well inner section and across the fuse box. So the fuse box needs to be removed but before that you need to remove the accelerator pedal 2 x 10mm bolts (long) and tie it out of the way, now undo the bonnet release handle 2x 10mm bolts (short) The fuse box is held in with three 10mm bolts but often there is only two actually fitted, before you do this however there are several connectors that need unplugging, now as the fuse box is undone and turned around there are two further connectors on the rear, now it should be able to be pulled free With the fuse box removed the targa drain is visible, and clearly disconnected from the exit bung, this of course means any water that runs down the targa drain pipe ends up in the fuse box and the foot well carpet. Here we can now see how the moisture has started to effect essential electrical connectors, leaving this any longer will mean odd electrical issues and maybe even breakdown. Back to the fuse box and in need of a hairdryer session, the unit was drenched. So now with the insulation pealed back we can see the drain bung and the pipe and how they not as they should be!! Now with a few moves all is well again, the drain pipe was pulled down a few inches to ensure it stays connected. So with the fuse box dryed out the connection cleaned and the box section dryed and sprayed with WD40 all was reassembled and tested. The odd thing with these drain pipes is they are glued into the drain bung and its seems odd why they come off, I think the pipes are shrinking back and pulling then off, sadly not really easy to check on a whim. 10. The owners of these vehicles are mainly British expatriates, who have left in a hurry because they faced "crippling debts" as a result of Dubai's financial meltdown and their own profligate behaviour. Many of them, says Hollingsworth, have defaulted on loans; rather than risk arrest and jail, they drove at top speed to the airport where they jumped on the first flight to London. Those expats lucky enough to escape the country -- and debtors prison -- abandoned some of the finest automobiles ever manufactured.
  11. Luxury cars worth hundreds of thousands of dirhams can be found gathering dust on roadsides across Dubai, the remnants of the city-state’s economic boom that was brought to an abrupt halt by the global financial crisis. A few miles down the road in another residential district called Al-Barsha, a Porsche Boxster is parked with keys in the ignition. On the passenger seat are documents for a 144,000-dirham ($39,200) loan taken out at a Dubai bank There is a "regular astonishing sight" at Dubai's international airport, says Mark Hollingsworth in ES Magazine: dozens of luxury cars – Mercedes, Porsches, BMWs, etc – abandoned with their keys still in the ignition. In some cases, notes of apology are taped to the windscreens.
  12. Oh yes! Sure did make for a cool job, the frustrating thing is the cost! all the parts including the shocks and springs came in under $500 from the states, as the guys has US army connection he got it delivered free of charge!!! we do so pay through the nose for this kind of stuff here! Jeff
  13. Sure its the same wheel as yours, just a different option on the finish. As far as the belts, its possible to get in and out of the car without unclipping the belt it could be suggested its to prevent people not clunk clicking however I think it also would be an advantage for the fuller figure.... Jeff
  14. The shocks are leaking so they are been sent back for refurb and he will have them refitted when he returns to the US. Jeff
  15. The belts have two inertia reels, the normal lower one but also one higher up too, the spare is nice silver met alloy that is fully laquered, when flicked over there was Nissan sticker still in place....nice. Jeff
  16. You cannot fail to be impressed by the sheer enthusiasm of zed owners, a case in point this week, the brief was to replace the coil over shocks and springs with some new non coil over shocks and springs all supplied by the owner, ok pretty straight forward , but what a nice surprise to find he had supplied everything by that I mean everything, every nut, washer, bush, suspension top mount, body gaskets, etc. Made for a nice build up, some of the parts were required as his coilovers lacked the standard top mounts but even the new bolts and washers made it a nice job. Jeff TT Suspension
  17. The US version of the zed has some funky looking differences to our UK and Import models and I have to say there is something so much nicer about their swb space saver wheel, I have shown pictures before of the rather large seat belts too but could not help taking a couple of more pics today with the belt extended fully....classic and this particular nice zed will be at the Bash on Saturday so you can see it in the flesh as it were. 18. As most of us know the original Nissan rear spoiler suffers from water ingress and subsequently the paint surface becomes damaged and the spoiler shape changes to a wobbly top and later breaks away at the low part were it meets the tailgate above the lights. Quite why it does this is to many a mystery so we have cut off the end of a damaged spoiler to show why the spoiler is badly effected by water ingress, basically the spoiler was formed around a metal skeleton that over a period of time rusts away, slowly collapsing and distorting, this is why there is no point in repainting a spoiler that has started to deteriorate as the nastiness inside is still there and will just come back very quickly, the only upshot is if caught reasonable quickly the tailgate should be ok. Jeff TT
  19. Heater optional vent I mentioned some time ago about an optional knee vent that was fitted to later zeds that can be retrofitted real easily. Had the opportunity to get some pics form an M reg and as you can see the vent is fitted in to the drivers side knee pad where you will have a knock out blank plate, the heater duct underneath has the corresponding cut out are and with the addition of a little foam the seal is made when the knee pad is refitted, the vent has direction fins to direct the area to your legs or to your other area that maybe cold!! will add the part number for the vent tomorrow, from memory they are around £15 from Nissan. Jeff
  20. The mesh removal will not be the cause of the problem, sometimes the easiest way to track these oddball issues down is to borrow or beg suspect parts for known good ones and do a few swaps. Have seen air flow meters do some really odd things in certain rev range, doing a road test with ConZult conected would help track down if the afm is suddenly going rich,, try disconnecting both 02 sensors incase one of those is suddenly changing state. (ie corrupted data input) You could also try a test run with the induction kit removed as part of a general process of elimination. Also not unknown for engine ecu to go bad and cause many odd symptoms, not seen one do the exact same rich running you have but again possible. The black smoke is clearly overfulling or restricted air intake, boost leaks do the same as not all of the air is drawn though the afm, how have you done your boost leaks test and at what pressure. Another random fault we have come across is incorrect egr valve operation so disable this by oulling the vacuum pipe off and blocking. Any more info you can think about will help to give some more suggestions. Jeff
  21. BOLT!!!!!! NOT A NUT. Well done anyway. Jeff TT
  22. Could be the air flow meter as you mention, but also could be caused buy a restricted intake, you don`t have a fleebay induction kit on by anychance? try running with out it as a test. Jeff TT
