Road Navigation
When you're tearing along a country A or B road you have to get your wife to read it for you, that's what !!! If a voice is going to be giving directions whilst I drive, I want them to be right :D Actually I don't use sat-nav either, I've taught Julia to read a map (but she still has to turn it upside down sometimes :D ) it's much cheaper. Though that portable unit Stuart mentions sounds good........ Richard :smw:

Gear/Diff Oil
Mark's right.... MAny gear oils say "NOT suitable for limited slip differentials" on the lables. Make sure you get one that is suitable for LSDs or you could be in for a big repair bill later :slap: Richard :)

Targas off today.....
OK..... It was a nice afternoon so who had their targas off for the drive home  Me!! I made the mistake of doing this a while back on a sunny morning, but the outside temp was only 2 degrees. All was fine until I hit 70 on the A40, my body and legs were warm with the heater but my hands were frozen  Still, no worries today, though  Richard

Good saving?
Nice one :D Let me know how well they fit the brackets (aside from the drilling ;) ) as I want to replace my fronts next. I want to keep the same sizes as I can't be asked to cut the surrounds. Looking at previous posts, it seemed 16cms were supposed to be stock, but these are expensive compared to 15 or 17cms in most brands.... Richard :)

Good saving?
Hi Dave I bought the JBL 6X4 direct replacements for my rears and they are damn good. Much clearer than stock and loud enough, saved me the effort of fitting bigger ones. You may have to modify the surrounds to fit your new ones, IIRC the front stock ones are 16 or 16.5cm. Richard :)

Garage or outside?
I always put mine in the garage  It's a tighter fit than a 16 year old girl's pantie hamster, though :slap: Richard ;)

Best wahs and polish product?
I like the Autoglym products too. (Especially as my mate who owns the local garage has a deal with them and doesn't charge me for the odd bottle  ) TurtleWax extreme is good stuff too, although for just washing the car good old fashioned (and cheap :D ) TurtleWax ZipWax wash came top in AutoExpress product tests - ahead of Autoglym and Zymol washes. I do like the Zymol wax though and I bought some Carnuba wax at a show a couple of years ago which really brought up the shine on my black Supra. Oh, don't use Mer on a black or other dark colour - it always leaves too much of a haze :nono: Richard :hyper:

Stalling
Hi Alex This symptom will be the oil pressure sender unit, not the guage. Although it's reckoned the stock guage is not always accurate. I had the same problem and replaced the sender (fekking expensive - £80+vat from Nissan for the unit) now my oil pressure is exactly per the handbook :D Richard :)

Maximum tyre width?
Steve, sounds like you need to replace those tyres mate...... I run 255 rears and 235 fronts, all Goodyear GDS3 F1s, and the grip is amazingly good in everthing but snow (Hence the ZX stays in the garage during snow :nono: ) I've not once felt the car slip or slide in wet weather since I had them fitted  Richard :smw:

As a red ZX driver I like red as a standard colour....... .......But I do like that Lambo Orange. A lot   Richard :)

The Need For Speed!
That's quite an error margin, but one which would be expected as the cars age and the speedo components deteriorate. They were supposedly quite accurate when these cars were new, unlike most normal cars (fords & vauxhalls over-read by as much as 8mph at true 70). I did a check on mine last year too, speedo showed only just over 70 (about 71-ish) at true 70mph. Although the margin of error would be higher as speed increases, I would think. Richard ;)

The Need For Speed!
Just a thought, but perhaps the moderators should move this thread to the members section..... :x: .......all this talk of driving at 150mph+....... :nelson: Someone reading might think we are doing this sort of thing on public roads  Richard :smw:

give me a clue!
Buy a set of J-spec ones (and the switch  ). Contact AndyZ, he usually has a few in stock. Shouldn't be too hard to wire them up.... Richard :)

The Need For Speed!
I was having a game with a pork 928s4 on a private track (not racing on a public road, not me, no way officer..... ).... I got to 150 first and getting a bit further in front.....almost to 160 and the ZX was still pulling like a train......and......fekking speed limiter (UK car) Porker passed a few seconds later, those things aren't limited and can top 170  The car felt tight and rock steady  so I kept a steady 150 for the next few miles (which didn't take long to clock up  ) I have been tempted to have the limiter removed (I reckon I'd had had the porker, then :xxx: ) but my conscience (read "Wife" ) says no for the sake of my licence. I know I'd just have to see what it could do :x: Richard

3k Worth Buying a Z??
I bought a warranty from Private Car Warranties for £350 (valid 15 months) when I bought my ZX. So far they have paid for a new PTU, water pump, oil pressure sender unit and temp sensor. Total claims value including labour and VAT somewhere around £800....... They paid up without question and even covered the cost of replacing antifreeze with the 'pump.... I'd recommend them to any ZX owner Richard ;)

Skyline or Primera?
It's horrible  Different, though. A good idea but the end result is too OTT and ,makes it look like the cheapo plastic cars found in Lax Power :xxx: If he had stuck to the lights and front airdam WITHOUT extra splitters and that fekking awful rear wing it would have looked much better. Oh, and lose those graphics....... Richard ;)

Black Zed in Aylesbury today....
Hi all Saw a black ZX with blacked out side windows in Aylesbury today, last letters of reg plate .....JLE (IIRC ;) ) Is was coming out of the road near Camden Motors Nissan/Renault around 13.30 - 14.00 this afternoon. Anyone? I left my Zed at home this morning.....too much snow around my village 1st thing :nono: Richard

Vehicle Transporting through the AA
Hi Fas If you have relay cover they take you anywhere you want to go :) . However, I think that is only if the car can't be driven after a breakdown and they can't fix it at the roadside :( . If the car starts and drives they won't even come out unless it stops..... Now if a part became disconnected ;) and the car wouldn't start, you would call the AA. The patrolman might not be able to locate the part that became disconnected (as these Zeds are complex beasts  ), then he would have to call a relay truck to take you wherever......... :p Not that I'm suggesting you try anything dishonest....... ;) Richard :)

Ho hum - that scam again?
Now that is one BIG scam......  :xxx:  Don't get me started.........

Help buying a ZX
I use mine almost every day. 9 mile trip to work each way, half dual carriageway, half town driving. One way engine cold on dual c'way, home engine cold for urban part. I average around 18-19 mpg. I have had almost 25 on a 200+ mile trip to Yorkshire at a steady 90-95 on the M1..... (UK TT auto, stock apart from induction kit) Richard :)
