quick quite urgent question
Depends on the condition of your engine.... If it isn't too worn, then 0w40 will be fine, although Mobil-1 is a thin oil that drains back into the sump too quickly. Castrol 0w40 RS is a better oil IMO. I use Shell Helix Ultra 5w40 fully synth and have no probs..... Thicker oils like 10w60 better if engine has a lot of wear or is of a high state of tune, generating more heat than stock. Handbook says the "40" part of the grade is more than adequate in the UK. Slippy in the wet
I had a similar problem when I got my ZX. It had new-ish Avons all round. I now have Goodyear Eagle F1s all round and there is no slip/slide in the wet at all  Richard :smw:

'99 spec rear spoiler - anyone?
Good choice, Nigel  I think the 99 spec is the nicest choice too. I was thinking about it to replace my waterlogged stock item......until I saw the cost  I've ordered a fibreglass stock replica from Mike Feeny instead :p Richard

number of z,s
Spot on there, Steve. The buyers guide in Jap Performance (Nov 2002, IIRC) quoted that there are more imports registered at DVLA than original UK registered cars. Richard :)

number plate logos
Don't know about that.... I got a fixed penalty a few months ago for a dirty numberplate......... :xxx: Wasn't so bad, though, as the unmarked plod-car did clock me at around 80mph in a 60mph limit, but let me off. He said "......I was otherwise driving with care in clear dry conditions in a car more than capable of handling the speed in question....." Richard

Does it get better for you too ???
Hi all I took my zed out this afternoon for a blast up a rather empty A41 (sorry, private test track ;) ). On a nice clear straight, not a car in site for miles, I took it up to the limiter :x: . Car felt fine, so I let it run at 145-150 for the next few (rather blurred) miles. Since then it seem to be running even better. I drove home via the country lanes and burnt some more Optimax, it felt smoother and more responsive and the autobox seems to be more in tune with my right foot. It changes more seamlessly now too. Anyone else noticed this? :D Richard :smw:

NZR- what daily drive?
I thought this when I had my Supra a couple of years ago..... I bought a new Corsa sport to use every day. My wife had a Micra 1.0 16V at the time, but I enjoyed driving the Supra (and now the ZX) too much to drive the Corsa so I sold the Micra (as it was 5 years old) and Julia now uses the Corsa....... So my ZX is still the daily driver. Sod the costs, if I wanted economy I'd have swapped it for a diesel VW...... Richard ;)

Breaking the law
I did try to get out of the numberplate thing by cleaning it but the copper said "too late, I've got you on video........." Easier to pay £30 than get a bigger fine for speeding and 3points..... :mac1: I referred to "sensible" as being what he said about driving a car more than capable...... But you're right about the "petty filth  " Xbiker ;) Richard :D

Cats
Probably..... .....Isn't that what is known as gutting the cats? Watch the reduced back pressure afterwards, it can cause aging turbos to smoke. See threads regarding removal of cats.... Richard :)

for you guys that have removed the aircon...

Towing an Auto
I think it's OK if you place a "light board" over the front, showing a rear numberplate (of the towing vehicle, LOL :p ) and working red rear/stop lights, indicators etc..... Richard ;)
