To change or not to change.....?
Dilema over........ .....for now ;) http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=92152 Hopefully it went to a good home and the new owner will turn up on here. Richard

Z Club owner of this car..?..
After a bit more research on Autotrader, I wonder if that dealer actually had it to sell. I say that because they also have a red J reg UK spec auto for £3995. It is quite distincive, with a high spoiler, chrome alloys and the front indicator panel colour coded. The very same car is advertised privately, some 60 miles away for £2500-ish...... Coincidence? Richard ;)

Z Club owner of this car..?..
And I didn't buy it either mate....... I guess that solves what ever dilema I had about changing cars (for now....) ;) Still it's good to see decent ZXs selling for good money though. Richard

To change or not to change.....?
Thanks for that Gio..... .....although I have driven both when I was originally looking to buy a ZX. At the time I wasn't really fussed which one I ended up with as I like both versions, I just chose the best car on sale back then ;) TBH I'm not desparate for a manual that I would actually bother to get the conversion done. However seeing a low mileage late model UK spec at £5k only 6 miles away from home does get me thinking............ :slap: Thanks for the input chaps Richard

Zed Prices - rock bottom
Neither would I...... However I would think that once all the ebay rubbish has rotted away, or died, or been written off by inexperienced drivers; then the prices of said good examples will remain good. The Supra, RX7 etc are dropping all the time, as someone has said. But the prices of very good Porsche 928s are still holding their own. If I'd bought that 1989 55k mile 928s4 for £10k some years back instead of spending £5k on my 300zx, the Porsche would probably still fetch almost £10k today....... Still I don't care. The driving pleasure gained from the zx is worth whatever it loses in value. I didn't buy it as an investment - no car should be - I bought it to use. Richard :)

To change or not to change.....?
Do you really think it would add up to £1k to a vehicle's value? I hadn't thought of that, given the current low prices some ZXs are going for. Also at the time I bought mine there was no noticable difference in prices; in fact the Glasses Guide (almost 5 years ago) had the auto valued a little higher. I'd guess the manual fetches a premium now because of demand; they are more rare, plus the younger generation of potential ZX drivers do not want an auto........ ....oh and all J-spec autos will go bang if they haven't already  Richard :p

To change or not to change.....?
I've been toying with the idea of buying a manual ZX recently, not for any other reason but my SLK is an auto so having a manual ZX would be different. Anyway, I've seen a 1994 "L" reg UK spec fully loaded manual advertised in a car dealers near me. It's had very few owners (the last, a Z-club member, for the last 8 years) and it has only covered 70k miles with full detailed history. It's going for £5k. Now I'm very attached to my current ZX - it's a 1991 UK spec with only 88k miles and has never let me down at all. A manual conversion is not an option as I consider it a waste of money; I think it more sensible to replace the car rather than do that. I'm not desparate to change, especially given the reliability record of my current ZX, so what would you do? Richard :) PS anyone want a nice UK spec auto with history..............? ;)

Blue Smoke?
In that case I'd say piston rings or valve guide oil seals. If it's the former and your engine is consuming enough oil to require regular topping up, then it's new engine time...... Richard

If it is in good shape then somewhere between 160 and 170mph. Richard :)

99 Spec Rear spoiler
No, it's just you  The GT/GTO is not an ugly car but has not aged as well nor does it have the clean lines of a 300zx. Still way better looking than a Mk4 Supra though :slap: Richard :p

Happy Birthday FunkySi
Glad you have had a good one so far....... .........enjoy the rest of your day mate! Richard

Your opnion on a spoiler
I like the smooth look - like Funky Si's was when he bought it. Then he fitted a 99-spec and IMHO it looks much better now than when it was smooth. So there you are; 99-spec is my choice  Richard :)

Which tyres have rim protectors?
Dunlop SP Sport 9000 and Goodyear GSD3 both have rim protectors. They are both very good tyres too - but the Dunlops will last longer...... ......I have the latter (after having Goodyears) and they've lasted very well so far; plus I've not had any wayward rear end moments yet either :x: Richard :)

Annoying TV Adverts.
There are too many commercial breaks nowadays  A few years back if you were watching an hour long programme, there used to be 2 breaks at 20 minute intervals (IE the programme was in 3 "parts"), excluding the adverts before the start and after the end credits. Now in a show like The Bill (I know  ) there are 4 breaks, the first one 5 minutes after the programme starts :headvswal Fekking annoying  Richard

That's 2 words

some people have all the luck
Exactly! Bentleys were exclusive motoring a few years ago but the world and his dog (well Jordan has one  ) are driving them nowadays....... Aston Martin all the way for me; it's a bit like my Omega Seamaster watch - James Bond still has one but the [wealthy] chavs and footballers go for the Rolex. Money cannot buy taste :nono: Richard :smw:

My thoughts summed up in one line....... Richard :p

i'm gutted
Until a couple of years ago I used mine as a daily driver and when I changed jobs, I was driving it over 50 miles each day for some time. The only big cost was petrol........but it was worth it ;) However having that rare car (a UK-spec low mileage) I decided to keep it that way. I bought a daily driver and moved house so I was closer to work! I don't find the ZX costs that much to run really....... :nelson: Servicing and repair-wise it costs less than my other 2 cars (Merc SLK and Rav-4); in fact when I go on hols I trust the ZX more than the others :D If you buy wisely and look after it, it will look after you too. So I don't really think your job and salary matter that much unless you are unlucky (IE if you buy a dodgy ebay £2k ZX then make sure you have some cash in reserve!). I'm a (supposedly sensible) accountant BTW :slap: Richard :smw:
