  1. That does look good  Much better than de-handling altogether - I've never liked the "no handle" doors as IMO they just do not look right........ Richard :smw:
  2. Rome, Brugge or Stockholm....... :smw:
  3. Looking at the third picture, George Michael has let himself go....... ......shrunk a bit as well :D Richard :smw:
  4. http://www.tplpyro.co.uk I used to do the accounts for these guys some years ago. The owner is a top (if not a little eccentric) chap who, although getting on a bit, loves his cars. He had a fine DB7 V12 a while ago. He did like my ZX....... :D They also do the special effects for the Bond movies as well........ Richard :smw:
  5. It's not just you mate...... .....FunkySi posted a similar thing about VBH some time ago and I have to agree, Rick and Vick were separated at birth  Richard :D
  6. IIRC - and our resident MOT tester Paul C will confirm - any car registered after 1986 must have indicators visible from the side of the car; ie side repeaters. Hence all cars from C reg onward have some form of side repeater in factory spec..... Richard
  7. As title really...... It's wet and horrible outside. We went to Makro this morning to stock up on toilet paper, washing powder etc as there was nothing else to do. Anyway, Julia spotted a bargain - a triple DVD collection of the A-Team for a tenner (once VAT added). Not so bad then........ Just as we were driving out, I thought the car felt a bit strange so I pulled over only to find a front tyre was completely flat. Not the ZX BTW, but the Rav-4. As it was pissing down, my first thought was to call the RAC; especially as the poncy OEM jack would be hard work lifting a 4X4 off the ground. However I didn't fancy waiting around in Acton (it's not too great an area and we wanted to get back to the safety of Bucks ASAP ;) ) so I changed it myself. In the rain. Very wet and not happy and I hate having dirty hands....... :mac1: Anyway we stopped off at one of our favourite Italian restaurants for lunch on the way home. After a quick clean up in their toilets and a nice plate of veal, saute potatos etc, followed by a chocolate tartufo I was feeling better. Until we got home.........I opened the (sealed) A-team DVD only to find they had filled it with Knightrider DVDs :slap: B@stards!!! Now I do like Knightrider more, BUT I ALREADY HAVE THE FEKKING DVDs THAT ARE IN THE BOX!!! And it's not worth the 75 mile round trip just to return it either :nono: Richard
  8. I find this true as well!! I always found Mobil-1 0w40 made the engine in my old Mk3 Supra seem more "rattle prone" it also ran with lower oil pressure when hot, depite still being a "40" rated oil. Castrol RS 0w40 - exactly the same grade - did not have that effect. ;) After that experience, I decided never to put Mobil-1 in my ZX....... Richard :D
  9. If the NIP was sent to the registered keeper within 14 days then it is valid. So in the case of a company car, providing the police send it to the company within 14 days, then once the company identifies he driver it doesn't matter if the police take more than another 14 days to re-issue it to the driver. Similarly if the police take longer than 14 days to notify the company who own the vehicle, then the company can have the ticket cancelled without the need for another NIP being issued to the driver. I know this because my company runs 26 cars and my drivers are always getting tickets....... .......In the last year we have received 4 NIPs in respect of fleet cars sufficiently later than 14 days after the offence. In fact one even had an issue date of 3 weeks after the offence! Each time I have written to the police authority informing them of the 14 day rule and each ticket has been cancelled on the spot. Richard ;)
  10. It may be newer looking but I don't think it has the timeless appeal of the ZX. I think the Supra looks like it belongs firmly in the early 1990s whereas the ZX can fit in anywhere. However the Supra is a very colour dependent car - anything but silver or gun metal and it looks more dated IMO. Don't get me wrong, I do like the Supra and I was considering buying one before I bought my ZX. I'm glad I chose the latter, obviously...... Richard :D
  11. Yup, nice and subtle there mate! 99-spec is the only visual mod I have (apart from the wheels ;) ) and it does bring the car a little more up to date without going over the top. Richard :D
  12. So do I actually......... ;) I have thought about going smooth or 99 spec, and I have to admit 99 spec is probably the best looking, but I still think the stock spoiler suits the lines of the car so decided to leave it alone :D Richard
  13. Amen to that Si  You only have to look how badly the Mk4 Supra and (sometimes) the 3000GT have aged to see what a great design the 300zx is. It is a true testament to its design that a car conceived 18 years ago has still got "it" in the 21st century. On the one hand you have the slight late 80s/early 90s brash supercar styling, yet on the other a clean classic wedge shape that emits a certain timeless appeal. Richard :hyper:
  14. IIRC it was somewhere between 6k and 9k miles; sorry I can't be more specific. I have mine changed annually - around 5-6000 miles. Even one year on, the oil is still nice, clean and a relatively clear-golden brown....... (I usually use Shell HElix Ultra 5w40 BTW ;) ) Richard :D
  15. That really pisses me off too. Our taxes should just pay for the one lethal injection needed to rid us of workshy pikey scum like that....... Richard :mac1:
  16. I wouldn't give a shit - I dream about shagging 2 of the girls I work with...... ...........Us blokes must dream of shagging different women all the time so why should I get pissed off at Julia dreaming about a celebrity she is never going to meet? Dreaming about it and doing it are two entirely different things ;) Richard
  17. Fantastic cars :hyper: A chap in my road has a gun metal grey one and it looks truly awesome in that colour..... Richard
  18. Not seen those either - mine are the normal "flat" cushions....... ......plus they are still in near perfect (original) condition ;) Richard :D
  19. Gotta be worth a bid just for the spares alone........... Richard
  20. Actually that's true....... .....until you look at the gauge :p I bought mine from a garage in Tamworth (not Jeff BTW ;) ). I filled the tank to the brim before driving home and after a "sprited" drive down a somewhat empty M40 there wasn't much left when I arrived :nono: Definately worth it though :hyper: Richard :D
  21. That's true........ ........70-120 on a m-way (sorry, private test track) and the Scooby is history :p
  22. What he said..... ......Focus ST is no competition.....although in the corners it may be different. I'd still try though - I prefer RWD handling.... Richard
  23. So did I  Old joke - just that chimp told it better ;) Richard :D
  24. The perfect answer! :D Welcome to the club mate. Like you would expect me to say, these are great cars. Providing you buy a good one! Steer clear of Ebay £2k examples just in case....... You may hear a few members damning the reliability of a 300zx but I do not agree. Buy a good one and it will be fine - it is a Nissan afterall! I have had my UK spec for over 4 years (and 25k miles) now and it has not missed a beat. It is a 1991 auto, now on almost 89k miles yet I still trust it more than my other cars that have a lot less miles under their belts (a 2002 Rav-4 and 1999 SLK). However, if you plan to increase the power significantly then beware......... If you are used to 22mpg then don't worry. I still average 18mpg with a healthy mixture of driving, including some silly moments (although I did see 11mpg once but that was all silly overtaking and hard b-road thrashing etc :D ) There are now some insurers that don't penalise imports - do a search here. And finally the best advice, once you buy one subscrbe to the club - it is the best £20 you will ever spend on your 300zx ;) Good hunting mate! Richard
  25. Mine too. It finishes off the stock look perfectly....... .......no more "overbite" in profile view! ;) Richard
