Nice Motor Home
Now I may sound a bit snobbish here but WTF..... .......I always stay in pretty good hotels with restaraunts that have won awards (rosettes, silver stars etc), when taking a trip - my theory is why go on holiday and still do similar chores to those you do at home? If you can afford one of those RVs, then why bother - just pack a suitcase into the boot of your car and stay at the finest hotels along the way....? Horses for courses I guess...... :smash: Richard :)

Zed on a postcard
No mate, that's just Essex for you - it's always been that way...... .......besides reg number BD 224 is no longer registered at DVLA according to http://www.rac.co.uk/web/vehiclechecks/?&lid=leftNav&lpos=vehicle-check Richard :(

Zed on a postcard
Sure did Si - I was always a Vauxhall/Opel fan before getting bitten by the Jap bug. I still look back on that car with a great fondness........ My 1st car was a Mk1 Cav 1.6 RWD (way back in 1987). I had 2 of them, then I got the sports hatch 1.9 version. After a few months I had the Manta, before geting through 2 Mk2 Cav SRis. I then got a 6 month old Astra GTE when I was 19 (back in 1989) but alas it came off worst in an argument with a tree..... I had a couple of Mk3 Cav SRi/CDis until 1993, when I bought a Carina-E GTi (173bhp) and (with the exception of my SLK) have stayed loyal to Japanese cars ever since  Richard :)

Just to add....... ......Southend, those were the days........ Many a mis-spent youth there when I lived in East London.........Friday and Saturday nights at TOTS; races back down the A127 in my Manta...... .....How I loved the late 1980s  Richard

Zed on a postcard
Looking at the other cars in the pic, I'd say this was taken some time ago - maybe back when the 300zx was still in production in the UK? Still, it's a great find though  Richard :)

tensioner
As said - try MJP Autos in trader's section. Or SWZ for that matter. in 2 weeks, you could buy one from Courtsey Nissan in Texas and have it shipped with days to spare - thus saving you a fortune compared to Nissan GB prices. Richard :)

1996 300zx price?
Have to agree fully there. Despite so called "market values" and Flea-bay prices for shite that none of us would bother setting fire to, £5k for a decent, straight and unmolested ZX (either UK or J-spec) is a steal IMO...... Richard :)

cleaning headlights
Could well be mate - I'm just too out of touch to know :wack: Richard

how much paint to cover a bonnet?
I Don't know either, Si - slip of the keyboard perhaps........ 968 = pants (and before the Porker fans slate me, read "WhatCar mag, 10/1993" they said ......"968 is agricultural compared to it's Japanese rivals [300zx, 3000gt and Supra]....) 928 = old school Porsche cool - especially GTS version. I would consider swapping my 300zx for a late model, very low mileage 928gts in black  Richard :)

Fitting a Diesel Engine in a Zed
Not at all...... ......made me laugh! Cheers Si  And whilst I do understand the seriousness of the original question, I would not do it. Just go down the LPG conversion road if you want to save £££'s on fuel whilst driving your advert-car around. Much easier - plus you will still have the fast (petrol) option available at the flick of a switch. (And if it is an "approved" conversion you can be congestion exempt too  ) Richard :)

how much paint to cover a bonnet?
That looks like a top job there - awesome IMO! .......But is it not a 928...... ? Richard

I think I'd rather try the j-cloth and long stick (or wire coat hanger) technique....... Richard :)

Thinking of a colour change.....
Off topic I know....... ......but I spotted a (rare) FunkySi spelling mistake...... Sorry mate, Richard :)

Classic Car Wkly - Craig David's car
WhatCar and AutoCar mags both achieved 5.6 with a stock UK manual car back in 1991. Richard ;)

Mike Feeney - MJP Autos in the traders section mate. Not sure of the cost though.... Richard

uk/jap headlights
That is down to the connectors in the car's wiring loom, is it not? H3 and H3C bulbs have the same shape metal base, therefore both types fit in the socket built into the lamp housing. The difference is the connecting plugs between the car and the light itself IIRC. Richard

So true... .....I had the usual spot on the off side rear wheel arch done 4 years ago. It was just a small bubble but it has just come back now... Richard ;)

Grey TT Leyton east london
Not me as mine's red..... ......plus I haven't lived there for 10 years ;) My folks still do though - Manor Road if you know it. I occasionally visit but not if I can help it.......... Richard :D

Need a good accountant.
Pete Shrimp is an accountant mate! I was but left the profession over 3 years ago to pursue a career in commerce. I still have a couple of mates in the business. My best mate started his own practice over a year ago and I can definately recommend him.... .....But he is based in my village - probably 100 miles from you. Let me know though..... Richard :smw:
-
Unfair petrol prices.....
Now I'm very cynical as you know...... ......but I think Gio has a point there ;)
