  1. So true - I reckon if the same test was performed from 100mph then the ZX would fare much better.....assuming that the brakes are in good working order;) Richard:cool:
  2. My ZX is about 3mph out compared to the sat nav from around 70mph; it's almost bang on up to about 50 though..... The SLK is seldom more than 1mph out at any speed but the Rav-4 is almost 10mph out at 90:smash: Richard;)
  3. I also rate the stock 300zx (leather of course) seats highly - I just wish mine were heated:p Richard:cool:
  4. I'm not shocked mate - I don't have a huge brake upgrade - just 3G grooved discs and Mintex pads. I've had the calipers cleaned and new fluid every 2 years and my ZX stops just fine. My daily driver is a 2006 Merc SLK350 yet I'd happily say my ZX can hold its own against it in the braking department. You're right about the initial bite thing though; the SLK does feel sharper the instant I press the pedal but in stopping from a high speed there's very little in it! I can agree also - and I'd say it's the same for any 15+ year old car, not just a ZX. It's so important on a heavy fast car like a ZX to ensure that the brakes are kept in the best working order possible! Richard:cool:
  5. Looks very nice mate........ Richard:)
  6. UK and J-spec window would be interchangable, apart from the tint colour, however I would guess that the SWB will be different. If the OEM one is prohibitively expensive, it's possible that you could have shut the boot too hard with something protruding out which broke the glass. It would then only cost you your insurance excess to replace the back window.......;) Not that I'd condone that of course...... Richard:o
  7. I find the station car park is best - it's usually half empty and costs only £4 all day on a Sunday;) PM sent too.... Richard:cool:
  8. Aye, this Sunday. We plan to be down around 10-ish then (Julia will) spend a couple of hours browsing the stalls and shops before having lunch in The Pump Room at Midday...... Richard:cool:
  9. Sounds like you have mistakenly purchased the "chav special edition" Si.... Richard:rofl:
  10. It sure did; although it was extremely dirty when I got home:slap: I loved driving it so much that it's coming on the next two planned trips, which are incidentally down your way! We're going to the Christmas Market in Bath on Sunday then we're back in Cornwall on the 30th for 5 days....... Richard:)
  11. My thoughts too...... Richard:)
  12. Hey all, I've just returned from taking my ZX (and Julia of course) on a short break to Suffolk. Did I miss anything good? And where were all the East Anglian 300zxs - I didn't see another out and about at all;) Richard:smw:
  13. I agree - nice work Nick:cool: Richard
  14. Gio sure was there - his was the silver Z32 tt that won! (The very car now owned by Zairs). There are some old threads here about it - apparently Gio's car had a bit of a boost leak on the day but still managed to stuff JC in the 350z:bow: Richard;)
  15. Couldn't have said it better myself:cry: Richard:mac1:
  16. I had mine done in the summer - it came to a bit over £1200 with a replecement torque convertor. I have to say, the chap who did it did an absolutely top notch job. He is well known and respected in the auto box business and really knows his stuff! Although I reckon Aylesbury is a bit too far for you, mate. I hope you can get it sorted; it'd be a real shame for an otherwise decent UK spec to bite the dust..... Richard:)
  17. That's about right for the earlier cars; even the SL500 before 2004/5-ish only had 300bhp. That's one reason I bought a 2006 SLK350 as opposed to a 2003 SL500 - they were almost the same money but the SLK is much quicker and newer! The CL500 is a nice car though - it's a lot of metal for the money; however Meht's S320cdi looks better value;) Richard:cool:
  18. NO! I've always been a Jag fan (and a lover of the XK8) so I thought about buying one as a daily driver a few years ago........ ......until I test drove one or two! The (old shape) XK8 is a barge; similar power to a Z32 TT yes, but it weighs loads and can no way match the Z's performance. IIRC 0-100 comes in at over 16 seconds. The supercharged XKR is a different beast; but after being disappointed with the "normal" one I didn't bother with that and bought my first Merc instead. As Craig David says; the CL500 is nice and cheap as chips now as they were never as desirable as the SL/SLK/CLK. I also agree with Si - the 8 series BMW is a bruiser and still looks good today.... Richard;)
  19. That's Leonard Di Caprio in 30 years............;) Richard:p
  20. Ahhh Minidisc...... .......seemed like a good idea until recordable CDs came out shortly afterwards! Richard;)
  21. That's what I like about this club. You're a top man mate. My thoughts go out to Diane - that's a horrid thing to happen; especially so near Christmas. I hope they catch the scum who did it:( Richard
  22. I have to agree............:p Richard;)
  23. "...........The move could save the average family as much as £10 a week..........." I doubt it! For most things we purchase (with the exception of food in supermarkets) like clothing and petrol already have VAT included in the price. I mean a pair of Levis is around £50 and a litre of unleaded is £0.94 including VAT - without VAT the actual prices are reduced by 7/47; the jeans become £42.55 and the petrol £0.80. If VAT does come down to 15% do you really think that the retailers will pass that reduction on to the consumer? I reckon not - we will still pay £50 for our Levis and £0.94 for a litre of fuel. However you only need deduct 3/23 from the "gross" price to see what the retailer gets after paying the vat; the jeans become £43.48 and the petrol £0.82. In short for VAT inclusive items, the retailer will simply pay less VAT to the government whilst keeping their prices the same; and so make more profit. Although not good for the consumer, I guess it is a help to struggling businesses. But, Mr Darling, don't lie about families being better off! The only time a consumer will benefit is where you pay for a service £x "plus VAT" - like a plumber's or solicitor's bill for instance. In that case the dreaded "plus VAT" is of course 2.5% lower. You can tell I'm an accountant............ Richard:headvswal
