Had a blow-out today! Was kinda lucky!
Same happened to me in my Z - rear near side at 80mph. And my car also remained stable, once the initial shock had passed I safely steered off the carriageway unscathed. Unfortunately I dented the rim as I caught a cats-eye on the way.... I'm glad you're OK Si.....and very pleased it wasn't in your Z;) Richard:)

zed to make you say wow
I can see the "wow" factor..... ....in the price!! Sure, it's a very nice car - almost new - and it's good that he's expecting a decent price. Also for that money why not import a geniune '99 spec.... Still, I hope he gets what he's asking. It's not every day you find an original unmarked example. Plus if that auction were here and for a UK spec manual with leather etc etc etc that had virtually come out of the factory; I may think differently:D Richard;)

Turtle Wax "Ice"
I've heard that's excellent stuff - where do you get it from? Richard:)

Turtle Wax "Ice"
Anyone tried this yet? I bought some today; the car shampoo and polish in paste form. I have to say, on black paint I'm very impressed so far:bow: I normally use Autoglym SRP; which never fails to get my cars looking good AND gives decent lasting protection. I tried Meguiars Gold Class on the SLK last month and, despite all the hype and recommendations, I was a tad disappointed. Sure it made the black paintwork shine - for about 5 minutes. The next day it looked like I'd wasted my efforts:( However this Turtle Wax Ice looks like it does the business -the shampoo is one of the best I've used. It cleans the car nicely and runs off well, reducing the need for leathering. Then the polish is easy to use (even in direct sunlight) and leaves no haze or residue - in fact it doesn't matter if you get it on rubber or plastic trim, it just buffs off!! The whole car now has that "wet look" shine and the paintwork feels as smooth as glass; plus if it's anything like previous Turtle Wax products, the protection should last and keep beading water for ages. Long term protection is something that many other polishes (including the "great" Meguairs) fall behind with (according to Auto Express testing);) It's not cheap - the paste was £19.99; but with Halfords 3 for 2 on Turtle Wax products I bought that plus the shampoo and a spray for "in between waxes" cleaning for £27. I reckon it was worth it and I'll give the Z a once over with it tomorrow!! Richard:D

It still gets loads of looks!

It still gets loads of looks!
You're so right Si:bow: I took mine out for a blast this morning; dropped Julia at work then took the targas off to enjoy the late winter sunshine:hyper: It's such a feel-good car; the looks, the sound, the performance and the attention:hyper: I don't get half of that in the SLK;) I enjoyed it so much that I think I'll take it to London tomorrow; as I'm off to see my folks...... Richard:cool:

Z width?
I do believe it - the Zx is a pretty wide car compared to most things on the road. I think it's about 81 inches mirror to mirror - i had to measure one before buying to ensure it would go through my garage door!! Legrath is spot on about the 180cm excluding mirrors;) Richard:cool:

Asda quality????
It's the principle, isn't it mate? I'd do the same. You buy something and you expect a certain standard for what you pay for. I personally do not like Asda or Tesco (least of all Tesco - it's really crap) so I only shop in Sainsburys or M&S. But if I had issues with a product I'd complain too - it's the only way to get the supermarkets to keep their standards up. More people should write in with product quality issues to ensure we don't get shafted! Richard:)

3 years disgusting
I don't know all the facts but I think the operative word here is "accident." With the volume of traffic on the roads nowadays the risk if an accident is greater than ever. If you're driving a long distance within the speed limit - but not recklessly - and you have an RTA that is eventually deemed your fault and results in someone's death then you are not automatically a killer. Careless driving is quite an easy offence to be found guilty of following an RTA and it could just as well happen to any one of us. Does that mean that any driver responsible for an RTA must be jailed if it results in a death? In general I do not think so. Accidents happen - of course reckless/dangerous/drink driving is a different matter - and I don't think someone should be jailed for what is effectively a momentary lapse of concentration. That's just my broard opinion in general, given my lack of in depth knowledge of all the facts of the case in question. Richard
