Exhaust advice
Hi all, Sorry for the thread hijack; but how loud is that Japspeed exhaust? It looks quite a decent quality and very reasonably priced at under £300 new. I had a Blue Flame (Mongoose copy) on my old Z and that sounded good and deep, but not at all intrusive at motorway speeds. I'm thinking of the Japspeed one for my new Z but I don't want anything too loud - a nice V6 burble will be OK but I don't want a constant drone..... Cheers guys, Richard:)

What tyres are you running
I hear the Falken 452s are pretty good..... .......but I decided against them last Friday and fitted a set of the new Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymetrics. For a premium brand they weren't too expensive for 265/35/18 rear and 225/40/18 front. £577 all in; fitted balanced and new valves, mobile fitting service at my office from Event Mobile Tyres. They get a very good rating as well.... http://www.reifendirekt.de/review/110/Goodyear_EAGLEF1Asymmetric_Reifentestcom.html Plus they were voted top tyre in Evo and Auto Express magazines..... smoked or clear indicators?
I know what you mean buddy - I don't know if "clearing" the JDM lenses is any easier. But it can't be any more tricky, surely....:o I reckon I'll leave mine as they are - I reckon I prefer the UK spec look with the cleared lenses... Richard:)

smoked or clear indicators?
:) Hi Phil, Pretty much as you did mate! My first attempt I decided to try the lazy option but I didn't realize just how tough the orange bit was. I tried to break it using a hammer and screwdriver; but ended up smashing the orange bit (unbroken) through the front of the lense!!:headvswal One new lens later (thanks JeffTT:)) and I used a red hot screwdriver to effectively cut through the orange bit; breaking it into small pieces and pulling it out with long nosed pliers. That an a little patience....:x: Richard:)

smoked or clear indicators?
I agree with that - it looks good now Phil; I have done the same thing as you and I quite like the "revised" UK spec set-up as it is...... Richard:cool:

people views on 350z's
Hi Allan I have driven a couple of 350zs and I think they're a pretty decent car. They are pretty fast in stock format; although not quite as fast as a Z32 TT in a straight line. They corner very well for a powerful RWD and they have grown on me over the years. I hate the convertible though - it feels poorly made and very flimsy. I don't think the Z33 has the same road presence as the Z32 and, whilst much more modern, the "quality feel" is less than that of the Z32. But then a 350z was around £28k new back in 2003 compared to the 300zx costing £34k+ back in 1991........ I do think the shape is an acquired taste though - colour really makes a difference so you have to get it right. Black, gun-metal or, at a pinch, silver. If you want a striking look then it has to be that burnt orange/gold - but that's a little too loud for my taste..... Richard:)

smoked or clear indicators?
Sure is mate...... No - see above! and the plastic edges are very fragile so you cannot prise them off otherwise you'll just snap the outer edges off:nono: I know this after my botched first attempt to clear mine. I then "experimented" with the broken lense and discovered that you can't remove the front without breaking it......;) Richard:cool:

cornwall meet-sept 09
I am on hols in Cornwall that week......... .......I arrive in Boscastle on 5th. Hopefully I will have my Z back; as I originally planned to take it! Depending on that; and where; and of course (more importantly:slap:) Julia consenting to us spending a few hours of our break to attend a car meet, I could be up for that.... Richard:)

What you doing to your zed at the moment?
I've just dropped mine in at Z-World to have the cambelt done; a new a/c condensor and re-gas; oil & filter change and new plugs if needed..... Otherwise nothing - it's just fine! Although I reckon it will be a tad better once Jeff has "worked his magic" on it......;) Richard:cool:
-
Zed-World tomorrow, anyone....?
Nice to meet you as well mate! Thanks for the Z compliment; I like your Z as well - it's in superb condition and it goes well too......;) And thanks for the lift to the station buddy! Richard:)
-
Zed-World tomorrow, anyone....?
....About 10-11am depending on the M42, mate............ Hey Pete, I'm having the cam belt changed, new plugs and a/c condensor replaced plus a /regas..... ....and you're right about that avatar:tongue: ....................I would, buddy, but I get a nose-bleed if I go further north than Scotch Corner:tongue: ....well if you're still there a couple of hours later, I may see you........! Richard:cool:

Is this a high milage (non zed)
As above - if it's motorway miles I would not worry about it on a diesel. I sold my surveyor's Volvo S40 2.0tdi earlier this year - an ex-employee bought it for his wife. The car was just over 2 years old but had covered almost 130k miles - it had also just had the original brakes and second set of tyres replaced. At almost 130k miles!! It will also depend on how it's been driven - and with the high mileage it will also be a real bargain! Richard:)
