  1. We also try to observe it every year...... ....but I just cannot get over just how much the bloody phone rings during our efforts:angry: What's wrong with people??? Richard:cursing:
  2. I have always liked the look of them but I've also heard the same thing Brian says...... ........nothing like the "small X5" you think it's going to be. I'd go for the new generation Freelander instead! Richard
  3. The legality of HID conversion kits is and always has been questionable..... ......but as the Z32 has projector beams for the dipped lights, the beam pattern of an HID lamp is extremely unlikely to be affected when installed in place of a halogen bulb. Stick to a 4500 - 5000k light, and perform the earth wiring mod to keep dipped lights on with mains, and it's unlikely a tester will ever notice enough to fail your car. The DoT link posted above dates from 2006 and in that time I've gotten my ZX through 4 MOT tests with no problems! Oh and you need the H3 kit....... Richard:thumbup1:
  4. I believe the general consensus of opinion is to stick with the stock NGK platinum plugs mate....:flowers: Richard:thumbup1:
  5. I agree Bri..... And what makes me more angry is that if a group of white British youths decided to burn a copy of the Koran in that same way, they'd be arrested on the spot for inciting racial hatred:mad2: Richard
  6. Not my thing either.... ....but that sure does look good so I voted cool!! Richard:cowboy:
  7. Hey Isaac, Happy birthday mate - I hope you have a great day!! Richard:gunsmilie:
  8. Exactly - so adding something like that to an MOT test is pretty pointless anyway.... ......Plus since the ZX has a projector beam I doubt many testing stations will notice. And the UK spec car does at least have headlamp washers.....:tt2: Richard:scared:
  9. Despite who I selected in our fantasy F1 game, I'd like to see Lewis hamilton take the title. Just to keep it in the UK...... Richard:batman:
  10. Thanks for the warning - also be vigilant for anyone suddenly selling loads of ZX parts on Fleabay. Could be the thieves selling their ill gotten gains:no: Nice offer Craig; I'm not going to edit this just yet. However if you are serious (and start getting a few enquiries) please can you run your suggestion by Brian (Znut)? As the club's TLO it's his call on how to proceed! Incidentally my new car happens to have a tracker already fitted. I'll drop you a line re going about activating the subscription if you don't mind mate......:flowers: Cheers, Richard:cool2:
  11. .......Exactly! And what shape is it; as IIRC the 230 kompressor engine was briefly carried over into the 2nd generation. Could be wrong there though..... Also the manual 'box is a big minus in the value of a Merc; autos are normally worth a lot more! Richard:cool2:
  12. Many happy returns buddy - I hope you have a great day!! Richard:happybday:
  13. There's a thought - although I may not be taking the Z though...... Richard:oops:
  14. Yeah - cut it out if it is anyone here! Joke's over now.......:2guns: We're staying just outside York so still a bit south of 'Boro. Although I do hope to get up to Whitby whilst we are there. I love the road across the North York Moors from Pickering to Goathland.... .....so you never know!! Richard:cool3:
  15. Yup - I always loved the old Scirocco as well. Ditto the Opel Manta; very dated now but I used to own a 1979 Manta as a teenager and I loved it at the time!! The Quattro was just awesome and seeing Gene Hunt drive one in "Ashes to Ashes" brought it all back..... Richard
  16. I've never been to 'Boro but I have visited much of North Yorkshire and some of Northumberland - and I do like that part of the country. I have to agree - fantastic countryside and superb roads; nice people and good food also..... I try to visit North Yorkshire a couple of times a year; in fact we're spending a few days up there at the end of this month!! Richard:cool3:
  17. Cool!! I know Wanstead very well too - I did jury service at Snaresbrook and I still have a few friends in that area. My folks still live in Leyton (heaven knows why) so I do visit from time to time..... And I'm not surprised you still get told you talk posh if you live in 'Boro.....:laugh: Richard:thumbup1:
  18. LOL; Yes, it is quite nice here - so you've been to Great Missenden then? It's famous for being the home of Roald Dahl; we have a museum dedicated to him in the village..... ......but truth be told, I am originally from the East End of London!! Leyton to be precise; although I was born in Hackney. I do not (some would say fortunately) have the accent though.....:tt2: And I can also confirm that I'm not a bodybuilder-type from Durham...... Richard:innocent:
  19. Oh - I see...... ......I'm actually called Tarquin Algernon Farquarson III but I thought that sounded a bit too posh for a car forum so I used a clever psuedonym when I signed up...:smartass: Back on topic though - it does ring a bell, but it's not me and, whilst the name sounds familiar, I'm sorry I cannot remember who he is:sad: Richard:sweatdrop:
  20. Nice one mate!! Always try the simplest solution first - it can save you £££££s in unnecessary repairs. Sound advice from WillieO I reckon.... Richard:cowboy:
  21. Eh.....?? Richard:sailor:
  22. Nice one Paul - I'm glad you had a great time mate!! Those pics look just awesome!! Richard:thumbup1:
  23. I do like those and have thought about getting a set for some time now...... .....but I have just never gotten round to doing it!! Richard:biggrin:
