Bloody pot holes.....
Very true Chris - same with most things really! Luckily I'm a calm and rational person......... most of the time!! I know buddy; sometimes I feel like all my fillings are going to fall from my teeth when clattering over our poor and broken roads. Thing is, I know money is tight for the authorities at the mo; but I remember many a cold and snowy winter from my childhood right through my teens. But I don't remember the roads failing like they do now. Sure there always have been pot holes but it seems that the "make do and mend" attitude of the councils is not solving the problem - more like putting off the inevitable:confused1::confused1: Richard:hammer:

Damn flat battery.....
Me too - that's a great idea!! Hopefully I could hang the panel outside the garage with enough flex to reach into the car...... Thanks for the link mate! Richard:chef:

Got my car back on the road
Excellent news mate - another ZX lives on!!! And congrats on acomplishing the repairs yourself - hats off to you mate!! Richard:yes:

Damn flat battery.....
Cheers Chris - the car was running really well to mate! I just love driving the Z when it's on top form; luckily it normally is - I just have to get in and drive it more often:oops: Had a nice blast through the Cotswolds, a hearty lunch and, as a bonus, the sun even came out a bit this afternoon!! Bloody pot holes.....
I had thought of that - but it could be any pot hole (or number of pot holes) round here at the mo. I could probably claim for the new tyre though; as I have a pretty good idea where it happened. But as for the tracking, I'll certainly write to the local b@stards, sorry council, but it's really a culmination of clattering over the poor roads in general; so I reckon they'll just fob me off with some daft excuse. Richard:oops:

Bloody pot holes.....
Cheers Rich! It's my second ZX now; I bought it from PhilP in August 2009. Phil certainly looked after it - and it's one of those rare "rust free uk spec cars" with a genuine low mileage..... Richard:cool2:

Damn flat battery.....
Yay! All back to normal now.....:smartass: .....jump started it from Julia's car this morning; then took the ZX for a nice little 150 mile round trip and all is well once more!! It was good to drive the ZX again - 5 weeks had almost made me forget how good these cars are.... Richard:cool3:

Lucky escape!

Bloody pot holes.....
How bad are our roads at the moment - my local council still has outstanding repairs to do following last winter's cold spell so now they're worse than ever. I'm so pissed off clattering over poor road surfaces that I'm having to take a longer route home from work every evening just to avoid fooking up my car. I've only had my new SLK 3 months and already it's needed a trip back to MB because the steering wheel suddenly found itself off centre. Seems the shitty roads have affected the wheel allignment - which cost me almost £200 to have adjusted. Warranty won't cover that either as technically nothing is damaged, broken or worn; it's something that would sometimes need adjusting over the course of everyday use...... And they pointed out that there was a chunk missing from one of the rear tyres - luckily the wheel is not damaged. So that's almost another £200 for a new tyre now. I reckon we should be allowed to legally withhold council tax or road fund licence until the authorities do something to fix the problem:asshole: Richard:excl:

quick word of thanks to zedworld
That's a shame mate - hopefully you can change shifts as it would be good to see you again! I didn't get to hang around at JAE much after you arrived; as I had to shoot off and pack for my hols the next day..... Richard:sorcerer:

Damn flat battery.....
Hope so Chris - all the lights came on OK and it almost turned over but not quite enough to start. I'll tell all in the morning; but I'm sure it will be fine:balloon: Do you leave your battery disconnected if the car is off the road? I guess they last a bit longer on the shelves of motor factors than they would wired in to the car........ Richard:thumbup1:

are sketchers a skank brand?
I guess if your wife's friend (who's the intended recipient) likes them, then it doesn't matter whether they are skanky or not! They will be happy with the gift anyway..... Richard:thumbup1:

Damn flat battery.....
I haven't used my ZX for about 5 weeks now; although I did start it last Saturday so I could move it forward a metre in the garage in order to fit a new rear wiper blade..... ......so I decided to take it out this morning only to find the battery was flat. Not totally dead; but not enough juice to turn it over:no: I couldn't get the Merc close enough to jump start it either - long bonnets and short jump leads;:tongue_smilie: And Julia was at work so no Rav.... .....I'll have to give it a go in the morning and take it for a nice long drive to blow the cobwebs from the engine..... Richard:thumbup1:

quick word of thanks to zedworld
Another happy Zedworld customer thanks to Jeff, Jamie and Lynda!! Always worth the trip IMO.... .....BTW who's going to Jeff's on the 5th; I look forward to seeing you there!! Richard:rockon:

Thinking of taking the Z to France
Yup - I agree as well..... .......go for it mate; I know I'd take my ZX on a trip like that. If it's been well looked after then you have noting to worry about - forget the horror stories about unreliability. It's a Nissan after all and I would not expect anything less than a great road trip! Richard:rockon:

are sketchers a skank brand?
Aren't they those wierd items of footware that tree-hugging bearded lefties and veggies wear.......? Richard:blush:

Looks like he'll be storing it then lol
Very true Jimmer....... .....And so is what Dave says! Nowadays a lot of people will buy a 300zx as a future classic or weekend toy, so just like the E-type et al, fuel consumption will not matter. BTW mate, the E-type was a 3.8 litre straight 6; and the not so good "built for the USA market" 1970s versions were 5.3 v12:balloon: Richard:thumbup1:

I also wish them both all the best for a speedy recovery. Richard

insurance agreed value
One answer is that a lot of people looking at TPFT are doing it either to cut costs; or because they do not care about damage to their own car. People who purchase FC insurance are more likely to care a bit more about their own car; hence will logically drive more carefully...... ......I guess....!! ....A bit of a generalization - but that's exactly how insurers think!! There are mate - but I'm not really into saloon cars (as good as some of them - eg the AMGs may be). That leaves the SL and the SLK; I like the SL but with the air suspension and its over-all GT car bulk, it does not do it for me enough to justify the price premium over a similar aged SLK. Plus for Gt appeal I have the 300zx.....:smartass: ......But the SLK feels more of a sports car/upmarket roadster. It's not such a driver's car as the Boxster but it's better looking and I can fit 2 suit cases in the boot (try that in a Boxster!!). Plus it has a metal foldy-roof as opposed to canvas - and to drive it, it feels like a bigger sturdier car... Each to their own though, I guess:whistling: Richard:cool3:

So? - I'll have one in a different colour scheme then.........:clown: Richard:lol::rockon:
