  1. Nothing wrong with either 17s or 18s TBH mate...... ......it all depends on the style of the wheels IMO. I had 17s on my red ZX (although it was a LWB); but the Azev A rims really suited the car and filled the arches nicely. I now have 18s on my blue ZX (also a LWB) which look equally as good - and Gaz's SWB looks the business with the 18s he has fitted. Looking at your pics, I reckon the 17s you have really suit the car too - so I'd keep them if it was me!! Richard:sorcerer:
  2. Welcome to the club Nick!! Richard:cool3:
  3. A belated happy birthday matey - hope you had a great day!! Richard:sorcerer:
  4. Oh dear - why indeed mate!! Richard:scared:
  5. Such a waste.....:scared:
  6. Many happy returns Jon - have a great day mate! Richard:sorcerer:
  7. I bought my first one as a daily driver back in 2003, but when I changed jobs and started driving 250 miles per week I bought another car and kept the ZX as a toy; not for economic reasons, but in order not to kill my 300zx. When the time came to sell it in 2009 I replaced it with another, newer, better lower mileage 300zx - which is still a weekend and holiday toy; in which I cover 5000 miles per year. I have since owned faster (although it is close) and much newer daily drivers, but I still love the 300zx. If I don't drive it for a couple of weeks, maybe I don't miss it - until I get back into the ZX that is. Then I realise just how good these cars are and how much I trully love the way driving it makes me feel. Brian is right - the 300zx is automotive heroin - it is so adictive! True, there has been a drop in 300zxs on the road in the last 5 years - and naturally a corresponding drop in members - and as the cars get more rare then only the good, cherished examples will survive and the appeal will still remain. As long as people can continue to afford running one - be it as a toy or daily drive - that is! But with dedicated clubs like this (and the continuing presence of specialists like Zedworld) then ownership costs and troubles can be kept down; and we can carry on enjoying the cars. I don't know of many modern classic cars that would have the same appeal for me, or give me the same thrill of ownership. The 300zx is still a good looking car that hides its age well; it's fast, comfortable and (yes, really) reliable! Not to mention great value for money, considering what you get for your £££s. If I didn't have my 300zx, then the only other modern classic that would do it for me would be a Porsche 928 GT or GTS... I also wouldn't mind an old Merc SL (the pre-1989 cars that began life in the 1970s) or an XJ-S V12 either; but they are older and (with the jag) potentially troublesome. So considering the options I think I'll stick with the 300zx, thanks! Richard:sorcerer:
  8. Declare all modifications mate - if the worst happens you don't want them refusing to pay out. And I'm not referring to your own loss, rather a 3rd party claim against you if you are at fault!! You have a pretty good price there anyway so I'd probably not ring around many places, unless declaring your new mods hikes up the premium of course... Richard:cool3:
  9. Hi Rich, I think I know what you are referring to but I have no idea who makes them or where to find a set.... All I'd suggest is hunting on Ebay mate! Richard:cool3:
  10. Agreed - and check out the condition of the calipers too. Most 300zxs will have partially seized or tired calipers by now; 20 years of hauling a 1.5 tonne high performance car will have taken their toll... The stock brakes are very good when working properly - I bought a set of fully refurbed OEM calipers in the spring and the difference is amazing! If your car is just used on the road then a big expensive brake upgrade is not the best value for money..... Richard:cool3:
  11. Hi Adam, welcome to the club mate - and good luck in your search for a 300zx! Richard:cool3:
  12. Me too..... ....welcome back....:winkiss:
  13. I believe it's less than 2 hours to London by train though..... ....And I agree on the road link to the M11 - although the A11 has definitely improved in recent years!! However I also think that it is the lack of more direct and fast transport links that contribute to Norfolk's "niceness" because if it were closer to anywhere else, then I think it would become more quickly spoilt!! Hope you well BTW Scott - let me know next time you're down in Beaconsfield if you want to meet for a coffee....! Richard:sorcerer:
  14. Enjoy matey - have a great trip!! Richard:cool3:
  15. Seconded mate..... .....and I love the red 300zx with the 99-spec front! Richard:sorcerer:
  16. Sorry Bri - that's beyond me mate!! But no doubt someone will soon be on to tell you how..... ....Jeff, Vods; maybe...? Richard:winkiss:
  17. Happy birthday Ian - I hope you're well my friend and I also hope you have a great day matey!! Speak soon buddy, ATB Richard:sorcerer:
  18. Happy birthday mate! Richard:cool3:
  19. Many happy returns mate! Richard:cool3:
  20. Good call on the spigot rings..... ....when I bought my new wheels, the tyre fitters put on new tyres, balanced them up etc; but said that the bolts would hold the wheels in place so I was wasting my time using the rings supplied..... ....But then the car developed a slight steering wheel judder after a week or so, so I went to another fitter (for convenience) for a re-balance. Immediately the chap said it was because of the missing spigot rings - he told me not to waste money with a re-balance and put the rings on first; just to see if that cured the problem. I did just that when I got home - and he was dead right; no more vibes!! Amazing what a little plastic ring can do!! Richard:winkiss:
  21. Give MJP a call about the parts mate - his website is not always up to date with regards to what's in stock or not; and most of the time Mike will sort the parts in a few days if he hasn't got them to hand. He's always your best bet for new OEM parts IMO.... Richard:cool3:
  22. You have a lovely Z Joel - you just need to use it a little bit more matey!! Richard:winkiss:
  23. Good luck Pete - as Gaz said, it's good to see a 300zx doing well as a track car here in the UK!! Richard:cool3:
  24. 99-spec all the way I reckon mate....... .....and that's just what I'd have done if I hadn't gone for the Stillen lip on my 90-spec front!! Yewcheck's car, with the Carmad lip added, looks just awesome - go for it!! Richard:cool3:
