V8 - should I or should I not........??
This has the later M175 NA engine - but still good for 420bhp and 0-62 in 4.6 That and the AMG running cost premium over the "normal" 350 Gaz....:sweatdrop: Although the fuel consumption is not so bad for a big v8; apparently half the cylinders shut down when pootling around in eco mode (he says, trying to justify it.... ) World's most efficient v8, allegedly - but that's like being the cleverest person in the asylum!! http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/mercedes/slk-class/18731/mercedes-slk55-amg Still the purchase price looks like a potential bargain. Whilst mine was in MB for a service today, I was looking at the brand new AMG55 they had in - and with pretty much the same options as the one I posted above, it weighed in at over £60k!!! So £37k for 18 months and under 6000 miles under its belt doesn't look bad......

What air filters?
When taken in isolation - negligible, I reckon..... Claims of (noticeable) power increases upon swapping air filters should be taken with a pinch of salt - improved airflow is just a small part of tuning and really only show benefits when upgraded along with other performance enhancing measures. I'm no expert though - I'd wait to see what Noz has to say:cool:

V8 - should I or should I not........??
.....I'm more than happy with my daily driver; the 350 v6 is more than quick enough for most situations. But I do still get that hankering for a v8 sometimes - and this seems a good buy at 18 months old, considering the new cost. I'm not keen on having another black car though, but it sure is tempting..... I should really stop myself from looking, I reckon....... slk55.1.pdf

Quick scratch repair
The surface rust doesn't look to be a problem - it's just where the bare metal has gotten wet after the scratch. Just make sure you sand it all away before painting....

Should I or shouldn't?

Should I or shouldn't?
Nooooo! Fog lights aside, the square J-style number plate looks pants in comparison to the "normal" UK/EU type..... IMO of course...

What did you do to your zed today?
Long story mate - but short version is, after some body repair work, Mercedes' so-called "cleaners" left my (then) new-ish SLK covered in so many swirl marks, it looked like a small animal had ice-skated all over it:mad: Since then, I insist the garages never clean my cars when they are in for a service - and never take them to any other cleaning facility either!

Classic Car Sunday

What did you do to your zed today?
Yup - sounds fine mate...... ....And be careful about letting anyone else clean your car - after an "incident" at my local MB dealers a few years ago, no-one cleans my cars but me nowadays:wink:
