Experts needed please!
All IMO and from experience of selling performance parts for years.;) Mike Smith Manifolds Z32 (TT) DOOLZ (Dual Intake) TT DOOLZ v.2 Dual-Intake extensions for FMIC GT675RS Turbo Kit 740cc fuel injector kit & 300 degree rails All those are fine, however you would need the likes of John dixon to custom chip it unless you went the likes of AEM. Filter wise i would use Apexi's on the doolz. HKS plugs, i wouldn't but if your happy then that's all that matters. "Either Labree 5 bolt split downpipes or Labree ultimate split downpipes" Hold off a wee while, the Ultimates would be the best bet however am aware of no one yet with a right hand drive who has fitted them without any issues and go with the 3inch version. If your engine spec is not built yet, i would get the 1.2mm cometics and flog yours. expect possibly lumpy driving when fine tuning things if using the cams and i would ditch the clutch. Finally with the finished spec and even with the doolz, I think your looking at some serious power and beyond the capabilitie's of the MAF. smithy

help need on clutch size...!
If you've got an N/A clutch with your kit, it's simply not worth the grief getting it to fit. Assuming your zed is standard it won't last very long in a TT and if your a wee bit modified with higher BHP, it will not last much more than weeks! Send it back................ smithy

Z1 Motorsport
As Legrath says be very careful on de valuing goods too low, it's more a case of damaged goods and you can be stuffed if that happens. Oldzed is also pretty much correct, for items like turbo's and clutches, if something goes wrong, which it can. The first responce you'll probably get is "incorrect fitting" and you'll have to prove otherwise which isn't always easy! cos the hassle and cost of shipping back simply ain't worth it. I've just tried to fit a Z1 1 piece prop and can't get it to fit, it's too long. Cost of shipping back and why etc i just know is gonna prove a big pain in the arse! smithy

Urgent Help wont start
Just to confirm mate, it's not the fuel pump ECU am talking about, it's the actual ECU unit itself. There is a part of it's workings which loops the power feed to all other fuel pump components. smithy

With SWZ not being far from you, sure they will lend you one just to see if it works and if does, buy it of them ? smithy

Urgent Help wont start
When i had to do the above, fitting new relays made no difference what so ever, i had to bridge the pins on the relay with a short piece of wire and re insert the relay. Only when i fitted another ECU 6 months later, did it work again without the wire inserted. It all works like electrical sockets in a house ( a ring main) there's a feed from the ECU to that relay and inside the ECU is 1 small part that powers that feed. You can blow this feed and you won't get any error codes. It's worth trying another ECU from Jap/UK or Auto/Manual just to see if it starts. You got nowt to loose! smithy

Average Price For A Set Of Plugs ??
Paul jfyi, the NGK's on smithys-place are especially imported into the UK, only a couple of companies do this. NGK were commissioned by Nissan to design a plug for the Zed which was a C grade, but the other numbers and letters remain the same. Standard plug is a 5, so 1st off a 6 is colder and certainly in a platinum plug if it was available, a 7 would be too cold. The B series as you mentioned from the site are not only being a grade colder but a very minor slight increase in shroud length further helps avoid det as well. Absolutely 100's of sets of these have been sold and used by Zed specialist's for a number of years. In short yeah they are 60 bucks delivered, but your getting what nissan intended, last around 60k miles and are a colder plug for higher boost applications. Ok replacing the spark plugs ain't rocket science, the back 2 can be a slight pain and take longer, so once they are wapped in, you wanna forget em ;) OR pay a 3rd of the price for the coppers and change them more than 3 times during a platinum's life time. cheers smithy

Suspension Q:How would the Z handle being fitted with Air-Assisted struts ?
Hi mate, yep the very same as in your pic and from the same company. Sorry no pics of the car with showing slammend or up high, sozz Mine lost pressure quite quickly but then i did have a few minor leaks in the system. Quick flick of teh switch and she was back to normal again though so that was no problem really. Deffo do the job, i could lower it to about 1.5in of the floor then higher it to about 14in of the floor, thats' taken from the bottom of my front bumper. You deffo wouldn't drive around with it raised though no :D If you ever come across any copies of the top secret kit, let me know ;) cheers smithy

Brakes
Sorry mate, when ever i refer to aftermarket i never have ell cheapo EBC's in that way of thinking, so never gave them a thought, soz The offset between the 350 and Skyliner are indeed different, but 100% the same in ALL other dimensions, just a general more availablity for the liner should you want better discs in the future. Dean, Danny at DTA was selling the DS2500 pads for a mega well cheap price compared to normal retail, chaepest i've seen anywhere, drop him a line and see if he can still do the same deal ;) smithy

Suspension Q:How would the Z handle being fitted with Air-Assisted struts ?
Hi mate i have this exact set up on mine. I got it to get on and of the ferry to the mainland. I didn't fit the rears because i was concerned about handling in taht respect, however with the fronts only on, it became a bit wavy at around 120mph approaching bends. It's easy to fit but has a downside in that there must always be a certain amount of pressure in the struts to maintain a comfy ride, once pressure drops ( which it does) the ride firms up a lot. You can of corse just flick the switch and more pressure goes back in again. Only person i know with it on all 4 corners is Paul from Knightsbridge in Nottingham, though his car is really just a show car now. If your feeling flush you can use Top secret's kit, you need to use coilovers on the corners your doing and an air cup fits on the top of it and pushes the struts up and down when you want it to, in teh same fashion as the kit above, difference being the ride is always as per the settings on your coilovers you have and the air is only used when you need it and this is very very similar to what some very expensive sports cars have ;) cheers smithy

Brakes
Hi mate, now that you've got more of an idea on what disc size your using, can i suggest the Skyline GTR disc over the 350Z one's, yes both are the same size BUT, because the 350z comes from a newer model car, the discs no matter the aftermarket brand, can be much more expensive than the GTR ones and usually greater choice too, if it was me, thats what i'd go with ;) smithy

replacing trim after respray..
Yep replaced every single one even including new wiper arms, yikes! Whole lot ain't cheap as said but really does finish off nicely after a respray. Luke however does not do the outer window trim for rear glass, you have to get taht from the US and it will come with the front window trim as well. Greddy FMIC vs Copy FMIC
It wasn't mate, i was just pointing out to someone who was clearly getting frustrated at no responce from here, simply googling for the answer does the job. As for the selling 30 sets, it was mearly to point out that having seen so many sets in front of me over the years, i still didn't know myself so just googled it, which brings me back to point 1. Not to worry, i can take it ;) smithy

what do people reckon on these smic !!!
Due to the size of them, i would see that as an impossibility though fella. Having made my own custom ducts to accommadate my coolers and bumper, theres no way you could get ducts angled that far up, the cooler listed above has around half of it that sits behind the indicator housing! smithy

bigger discs
After reading this i can't help thinking you guys are going 6 steps forward then 6 steps back. You got the decent Brembo calipers, good start. Don't really see the point in then searching ell cheapo standard fitment for Non Nissan EBC discs then make up brackets etc. There are numerous companies who manufacture BIG brake upgrades for the Zed and GTR family, they wil happily sell you just the discs both 1 piece and 2 piece. Okay not cheap, but they are standard fitemnt on your hub and they are a performace disc as well. You never know there is also the possibility that one of their bracket set ups will work with your combo, am sure if your buying their discs, they will happily oblige in supplying a draft type drawing or model of bracket. For the sizes your looking at, try AP and KAD as i think they are the most helpful. I just think if your gonna go big and use decent calipers, don't skimp boys ;) cheers smithy

what do people reckon on these smic !!!
Man i just know am gonna shot down on this, but here goes :D Having seen the likes of HKS and Stillen coolers fitted on Zeds with and without the bumper fitted, you can see that the entire top section of the cooler does not even get any cold air directed at it, you rely on cold air coming in on the face that is ducted and then travelling up the cooler and suposedly back down to the outlet, which is not at the top of the cooler. Now with these, they are possibly the tallest i've ever seen, 1 3rd of the cooler gets cold air, 2 3rd's doesn't, the outlet pipe to take the now suposedly cooled air is half way, just how much air gets to the top of the cooler before it's gone on it's merry way through the outlet pipe, so IMO, totally wasted. Look at the likes of greddy, a small bit taller which still accommdates any duct completly but is twice as thick. ARC who are renowned for producing the most efficient SMIC anywhere around the world, also use thicker core but better angled outlets which increases flow. So personally with this particular set, the motto "it's bigger so it must be better" IMO does not apply. I just feel the seller is trying use the size as a selling point when in reality you can actually have it too big. In fact as any decent honest chick will confirm, sometimes too big, is just wasted and of no use! :D smithy

Greddy FMIC vs Copy FMIC
Perhaps no one responded cos they don't know. Despite having sold around 30 sets of Greddy coolers myself, i still had to google it and in 30 secs found YES Greddy coolers are stamped with Greddy on the top. smithy I know side mounts, but you get the jist. http://us.st11.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.com/I/yhst-15342291949654_1995_11716593

Fuel pump upgrade
Hve to agree with topless on this one mate. Crack on with yer build, run your engine and do your dyno work when you wanna know how much she's kicking out. The dyno tuner guy will identify any problems including fuelling-If any at all. If fuelling shows that it's holding you back then fair enough, a little more work and not big expense will sort it out for you. But on this particular area i would move away from the norm, only if you have too. smithy

Big brake will they fit under my wheels????
Speak/PM danny mate and he'll sort yer out. The full kit price includes the front pads, so knock that price of the full kit price and hey presto a pretty close idea price for what you want. That is for using the DBA discs, you can of course use any brand and danny will quote accordingly ;) smithy

Big brake will they fit under my wheels????
I think Dan has these in stock and yes to work with 324mm Skyline GTR discs ONLY! The bracket is made to suit a particular offsett of disc, so you can't just use any old discs with any old bracket ;) smithy
