  2. Thanks Topless. We already have over 30 cars attending and have filled two venues (sorry) but still have spaces at these locations. The article is being covered by Total Nissan magazine :) Dyno aside it would be great to meet up with some of you guys and perhaps plan some socail meets for 2008. Hope to see you at one of the venues :)
  3. CLUB DELICA are organising a Strongman Truck Pulling competition for this years JAE and its all in aid of charity. The idea is that contestants make a small donation to the charity to take part and pull a Mitsubishi Delica & Driver over a 25M distance, fastest time wins! Plus there will be a trophy for the winner and all money raised will go to the chosen charity (Claire has supplied a few words below). As some of you will be aware Claires daughter Hannah has had a pretty rough time of it this year, so we thought it would be nice to do something to help a little. I’m sure all of you will help support as you are all aware of the great work Claire does and this could not have been easy to deal with as well as dealing with the amount of organisation JAE needs too. So would you please promote this event on your club sites, nominate some club strongmen and make sure you come and take part at this years show. A few words from Claire: A heart warming thanks to the boy/gals of the Club Delica for organising a charity truck pull at this years JAE to raise money for The Children's Unit of The Royal Marsden Hospital, Surrey. Let me explain in brief if I can...as to why. At the end of January, my 15 year old daughter Hannah was feeling poorly. It started, with what appeared to be an eye infection. You know what it's like having a 15 year old going on 25 year old young woman in the house. All the nagging of removing eye makeup just wasn't cutting the mustard with her...hehe. Anyway, the eye started to swell and got to a point where she looked like she had just come out of a boxing ring with Mike Tyson. A trip to the Dr and prescribed antibiotics later, still hadn't reduced the swelling. After a week of not seeing a sign of normality, I took H (as we affectionately call her) to the hospital. From there it was like a speeded up movie with bad dubbing. In February, H was admitted for two weeks into hospital, numerous tests were done. An MRI scan was ordered and the results showed a tumour behind the eye. More test proved nothing wrong with the eye, but the Dr grew more concerned about the tumour...as did we! On the day of H's discharge from hospital we were given an appointment at The Royal Marsden, Surrey. Some of you may not recognise this hospital, but it's a cancer hospital and one that both my parents were treated at. My heart sank, but H didn't know the impact of this, until I told her. We had tears.......lots of them, anger.......lots of it.........but out of it all we had a united positive front. Whatever happened we were...ARE going to overcome this. After more visits to numerous hospitals to see many consultants, MRI and CT Scans we were called to Moorfields Eye Hospital in London. Where we met the leading consultant, who chatted and laughed with Hannah and arranged a biopsy of her eye, beginning of March. My ex husband and I sat nervously waiting for our little H to come out of surgery. I must say at this point that H was very light hearted going into surgery with her pre-med....she sounded very drunk and afterwards coming round...well lets just say I recorded her for future prosperity....hehehe. The operation was successful as the Dr managed to remove all traces of the tumour and H's sight was not affected. A very neat scar on the crease of her lid...you would never know that she had an operation. We then had to wait one week for the results....not a good time! Results showed that H has a rare condition. The tumour was diagnosed as Eosinophillic granuloma. Not a great deal is known about this condition and she has characteristics from the below link. http://www.cancerbackup.org.uk/Cancertype/...llhistiocytocis This is a disease that has no cure, she will need regular check ups throughout her life starting with an MRI scan every three months until further notice. I always said she was one in a million, now I know she is exactly four in a million with this condition. It's heart breaking to know that at anytime my H could develop another tumour and instead of having an operation, be treated with chemo or radiotherapy. We all want our children to be happy, healthy and be successful. This has brought all this home to me, especially after our trips to the Children's Unit of The Royal Marsden. I remember sitting there whilst H was having bloods taken. There were children sitting round us pale, almost jaundice looking, bald hooked up to IV's.........but smiling and playing. I sat there and fought real hard not to cry, but failed. One of the little lads looked at me and asked if I was alright?? I couldn't speak, for fear of making a complete arse of myself and frightening him with my outburst of tears. H put her hand on my arm and said, "mum, what will be, will be" from that moment it has given me strength, hope and acceptance. My Hannah has remained very calm, strong and taken it all in her stride. I wish I were more like her.........I've been a nervous wreck since. One thing to remember though............if you think you're having a bad day, go visit the children in the unit and then say again how bad your day was. My thoughts for any raised monies would be to the children's unit at The Royal Marsden. The building looks sad, tired and warn out. The wards and waiting rooms could do with a lick of paint. The children's play area could do with some brand new toys. It's sad enough to see a poor little one go through all that and then have to play with broken toys. It broke my heart and I didn't want there little spirits to be broken. Love and hugs Claire X
  4. To all you BIG KIDS. Bring along your remote control cars and some plastic tyres. :) Unfortunately Ken Nomura wont be there to present the prizes but there will certainly be plenty to watch and also have a go. If you want to know more please visit the D1RC.co.uk website. On the weekend they will be located just next to the East of England Offices - right where JTuner were last year (if you can remeber that far back!)
  5. You should be careful about oversize pistons in an RB26. Firstly they are prone to developing leaks under the exhaust manifold so make sure it's not a standard block if they have done this to it. Ideally you should stroke and RB26 not widen the bore. If it has been bored out ask if it is an N1 block or (preferably) a RRR block.
  6. Very very sad news, my thoughts are with you and your wife at this very sad time.
  7. Gets my vote :) It's only the driver that makes these kind of (stupid) decisions. Got a number plate and I might know who it is ;)
  8. If you're looking for local accomodation there is a list on this page: http://www.the-organisation.org/links.html
  9. Yep :) .... must meet up for a beer V.Soon ;)
  10. and according to the Z-Club you guys are in prime position :) http://www.zclub.net/forum/showthread.php?p=80020#post80020
  11. Blimey, there are so many experts on here who actually KNOW what speed it should be. Guess they've arranged and run more than me? Now, sarcasm dropped............... Luffield 1 and 2 - the top D1 cars turn in at about 105mph. There is no way any street car would make it round that bend at anything approaching that speed. The whole parade will be behind a pace car and a camera car and will be at speeds to keep it safe and also make it a great spectacle. The pace car driver is one I have worked with before and is an MSA approaved marshal. He knows what he is doing. The MAX speed is the headromm, it IS NOT a desired speed and it most certainly will not be the whole parade speeed. IF we reach that speed it will be in one section of one of the long straights, nothing more. This is not mandatory, you do not have to take part, you can come to JTS and wtach if that is your preference. I hope that puts into perspective this discussion Thank you
  12. We are working with Competition Car Insurance for a special deal for the day.
  13. There is nothing off topic and nothing I have said is a personal attack, if you believe that then I apologise. I have merely stated what I believe is your limited experience in such matters. By all means correct me if I am wrong and again I apologise if I am.
  14. Couldn't have put it better myself, thank you. I think Dave has read "maximum" as a mandatory speed all the way round. It is not that and I have never even come close to stating that. Heck I see there were cars doing well over 100mph in the recent tunnel run! On the Parade Lap no overtaking is allowed and it is a very wide track (anyone who has ever driven there will testify to that) and it is strictly in order controlled by acredited marshals. Dave I have no idea why you persist in this ongoing pursuit. Unless I am mistaken you clearly have never driven in a parade lap nor driven at high speeds at Silverstone, let alone organised anything like this at this or any other venue. We have - on all counts! My only concern now is that you may decide to take matters into your own hands on the day and intentionally drive slowly thus forcing one lane to move at a higher speed whilst the rest back up behind you. Those behind you will be forced to overtake (against the rules) or will stay in line and may well (after three laps) be caught by the approacing front cars. Neither of which are desirable. I have ansered your questions on several occasions and on every occasion you have disagreed with my answer. That is your right. It is not compulsory to join in. Silverstone is a 13m wide track (minimum requirements for all modern F1 tracks). The standard motorway lane width in the UK is 3.65m which means Silverstone is almost like a four lane motorway in terms of width and will have only two lanes of traffic. I have read (again) your concerns and believe that you will not be satisfied with anything other than it being run completely on your terms, regardlessof the opinions of the majority of other members, professionals and qualified members of the organising team.
  15. Firstly there was/is no sarcasm in my response. I merely tried to give examples of why that TOP speed was reeched. My comments are for everyone's consiideration and if there is a general attitude that this is too high then we will lower it. However from experience we believe this is the maximum speed allowed. In addition there will be no overtaking or passing and a strict formation will be required. Leaving the final decision for the day is not unprofessional at all. Far from it. It gives everyone the opportunity to comment and agree on the day, rather than a ping-pong forum debate.
  16. Hi Dave, Your "simple question" has been answered on numerous occasions. It's just that your questions have not got the response you wanted. It has not been ignored. However I will attempt to address it again for you. 100mph is the top speed we used for the Subarus. I mention this because this is what was done for their parade lap and caused no harm or concern whatsoever and not one complaint was received before nor afterwards 140mph is the sort of speeds I typically reach along this section of track. I mention this to give you an indication that your cars will be travelling well within what is easily achievable and that there is still plenty of braking room at 40% above the speeds we are looking at for you. At a recent Parade lap for Skylines we were restricted on speed because of noise limits. I mention this because the result was a series of complaints from people that it was not quick enough and seemed a lot of effort on their part for minimal reward. To clarify one point. Racing is not allowed on track days but driving at high speed is. We do have track time and plenty of Z-Club and other Zed owners have booked time and will be doing considerably higher speeds than the proposed TOP SPEED for the parade lap. They have booked Track Time and not Racing. As I have always stated, we will take a view on the day as to the top speed. For example inclement weather may play a part as might any prior incident on track. So far we have had a significant number of people add their name to the list and a large proportion of them have sent in payment. Your coment "I AM SURE YOU WILL LOSE MANY PARTICIPANTS" is unfounded as you are the only one to have issue with this and have raised this repetedly despite us having answered it on several occasions. However we do recognise that if there is a clamour of disagreement we will address the issue. Until then one person out of 170+ does not suggest that your view is in the majority. If this changes and there is disagreement with the views of the organisers we are more than happy to change the event. At the end of the day we want to arrange a great event for all of you to celebrate the Z-Club's 30th anniversary. We are here only to serve you and provide the best and most enjoyable experience we can. If we are doing something wrong we are more than happy to address this and will do so. However, feedback so far would suggest the proposal we have presented to everyone is almost universally accepted. Thank you
  17. The top speed is down the main pit straight which is over half a mile long. There will be plenty of braking distance before you get to the turn. I for one tend to do 140mph along that straight so it's hardly excessive. The Subarus when we did the same thing did over 100mph on that section. However, if you wish we can easily lower the speed for you and make sure the control car drives a lot slower :)
  18. More than happy to part with my £108 if it goes to a good cause :) Don't forget to order your tickets through the 300ZX Club as its a lot cheaper than paying on the day :)
  19. Hi guys n gals........ Just a bit more detail: Entry is per person at £12.50, children are £5 and under 5s go free. All cars will be parked on the Z Club stand, The parade lap will be at 1:30pm but all drivers and all passengers (including children) are required to attend a briefing at midday. All drivers will be required to sign a form. There is no minimum age limit for passengers and 4 or 5 seater vehicles can have a full compliment of passengers subject to seat belts being worn. Crash helmets are not required. If you want to organise your parade in marque order then you will need to park in the same order. Similarly this applies for colours. The responsibility for parking in this fashion, if you decide, will be the responsibility of the Z Club, although we will mark out the rows for you. At 1pm all vehicles must be ready to move off and will be escorted to a holding area in order prior to the parade lap. Once in the holding area no cars may leave and no additional passengers will be allowed (though passengers can leave). Cameras are allowed if fixed or if hand held provided they are not used by the driver! No stereos (ICE!) etc is to be played during the parade lap and all vehicles must have main beam on for the lap. Non road legal vehicles will be allowed subject to an inspection for safety. There is a staic noise limit for the day and, as the parade lap is at a medium pace there is every chance that we wont noise test any of the parade lap cars. If you get more than 108 cars (National Skyline meet) on track for the parade lap, The Organisation will donate £108 to your preferred charity
  20. I take it that's for the girlies then :D :D
