changing front disk pads & caliper removal
Vijay, Whats the trick to getting the piston out, do you remove the pad on the offending side, and apply the brake pedal to force it out, or can you get a grip on the pistons once the pads are out ? John

changing front disk pads & caliper removal
This weekend I will be changing the front brake pads, and possibly removing the calipers, as I suspect the inside ones maybe seized (based upon less wear on the inside pads) If I have to remove them, do you have any tips for caliper removal and pad replacement, or is it straight forward? Thanks John

Question on spare tyre
Even though the M.O.T. does not check for a spare tyre, or even if there is one it can be bald and flat, is it correct that if you get stopped by the cops you can get done for not having a spare or for having a spare with not enough tread or underinflated? Thanks John

Milage! Help
I doubt if its a loose connector mate, I think your going to have to pull it apart, the conversion from km to miles is usually by wiring in a little black box. Do you have a speedometer that goes up to 190, and with a nice neat sticker that says mph (its over the km) ? John

Milage! Help
Tom, Its perfectly ok to change an odometer from 37000 km to 23000 miles, its the same thing. My odometer and the trip odometer stopped working a couple of months ago, I took it apart, and found that the plastic gears were not meshing. I unloosened the screws, moved them into mesh, tightened the screws up and its been fine ever since. Taking your time, its about a 2 hour job. theres a link on this forum that give you step by step instructions with photos. John

Refinishing standard rims
Alex, I did not take the tyres off, just sprayed visible area. Definately a good short term fix, may even last quite a while, £20 well spent. John

front brake pads

Refinishing standard rims
I was fed up of looking at the pitted, orange peel look of my rims. Its only about 90 mins per rim, and they look better in reality than the picture shows, and only £20 worth of materials I have a couple of blemishes in the nut holes, which I will fix. John

Refinishing standard rims
I spent most of yesterday refurbishing my Nissan rims. Rubbed them down with 800 wet'n'dry emery cloth Primed them with grey Plasti Cote primer Sprayed them with Halfords Wheel Paint Silver Sprayed them with Halfords Clear Lacquer I am well pleased, looks like brand new, if they get me through the summer I will be well happy.

Buying parts in the USA. Anyone got any recommendations?
I dont think any legitimate dealer will risk marking the package as "gift" or under-declaring its value. John

front brake pads
Thanks Ryan, I dont push my zed too hard, so I probably dont need the pads with the ultimate stopping power when heated up, just a good all round pad for street use that will last reasonably well. John

front brake pads
Has anyone else found that the black EBC kevlar pads wear out in no time? Cheers John

front brake pads
Why would brake pads last longer in a non turbo  Depends how you drive. John

front brake pads
Steve, When you say "standard ones" do you mean Nissan ones ? Surely standard pads for the street should last a bit. John

front brake pads
Ok, how much are nissan ones? or what other make should I go for? Do I really need the caliper kit if a couple of pistons are seized? I could just dismantle, clean and re-assemble couldnt I ? Cheers John

front brake pads
I was just checking Courtesy's site for price comparisons, they only list 2 caliper repair kits, one up till 1992 and the other 1993 onwards. I thought turbos had different front brakes, are the calipers same for turbos as n/a ? John
