  1. As indicated in the link, the main cause of leaks seems to be the seal between the striaght rubber piece and the targa top. Putting new seals (from Zedcentre £34) in, they never seam to be pushing against the targa hard enough, no matter how you try. I have tried elongating the holes in the rails to push the closer. In the end, the "seek and seal" stuff work the best. Problem is with that stuff is that it never sets up, and you will get some washed down your windows abit in heavy downpours, re-apply some more once it has had chance to dry out. Clean excess stuff off the window with engine degreaser spray stuff. I have been able to get it down to an occasional drip in heavy downpours. You can press some sponge foam in the inside gap between the targa and body, which will absorb small drips, then dry out before the next storm. I have tried silicone instead of "seek and seal" but its too thick, and causes unevenness, which allows water in. Ideally what we need is a very thin paint-on type of sealant, anyone know of one ? John
  2. Last time I did an oil change I used Mobil 15/50, but it was expensive, about £35 for 4 litres. Whats the forums opinion on Mobil 15/50 ? John
  3. A bit on the thin side ? How heavy do you need ? The 10 part is the low temperature viscosity isn't it? I thought the second number (60 in this case) was more important. Cheers John
  4. I could not see paying well over £100 just for brake pads for street use, but I was looking for something maybe a bit better than the Nissan pads, which seam to kick out a lot dust. I went for semi-metallic pads from Mike @ MJP (see traders section) about £70 with vat & postage. I also got a Nissan caliper repair kit £42, as it seamed the inside pistons were extremely tight, the inside pads were not as worn as the outside. Good luck John
  5. Thanks Andy, I should be able to make up some sort of a bracket. Cheers John
  6. Thanks Andy, great photos. Looking down where the cooler could go, I see only 2 mounting bolts, 17" apart. I think most of the 9 row coolers I was looking at are about 12" wide. Do you think the engine cooler shown in your photo is mount to one (or both) of the 2 bolts shown in my pictures? I dont suppose you have that engine cooler bracket do you Andy ? Cheers John
  7. Does any one have a photo of the mounting of the engine oil cooler ? I'm looking for some ideas on where the thing is bolted to the chassis, to give me some idea where I could bolt a new cooler that I am going to get for the autobox (I dont have an engine oil cooler - Import) Thanks John
  8. Apparently they have a gas that is compatible with the old seals. John
  9. The Zcentre, in the traders section, they have all the bushes, and lots of other goodies. John
  10. Is something wrong with your compressor ? Mine does not seem noisy. John
  11. Autosol.............makes aluminium look like chrome.......no competition John
  12. Oops, I was checking the voltage of the light circuit, the fan circuit is only registering 5 volts. is this right? John
  13. I just checked the wires coming in to the fan with a voltmeter, 12 ok, must be the fan gone. John
  14. I dropped the fan down from the roof panel. It looks like the previous owner stuffed some foam in the vanes, possibly to stop it from screeching ? But it spins very freely, spin it with your finger and it spins for a long time. I guess its burnt out, its not protected by its own fuse in the fuse box is it? Thanks John
  15. Thanks for that, I will go out now and listen carefully. John
  16. I have just been doing a search on aircon, etc. Found loads of good tips, but I did not know about a fan in the roof. I have not heard mine at all, if it has seized up, what are the consequences? Does the car really need it? Thanks John
  17. Thanks Paul, I will check the temps with a gauge tomorrow. John
  18. What should the air temperature be at the grills ? John
  19. Thanks Paul, It may be illegal to regas with R12, but no one would ever find out. My car is a 1992 model, so I guess it has R12 in it, unless its been recharged here in England in the last few years. Are there any give-away signs its been regassed with the legal stuff ? Which refridgerant do I need that will be super cold and wont harm my system ? Thanks John
  20. My aircon works fine, not icy cold, but eventually cools the car. I was wondering if anyone knows someone who can put the original R12 freon in, I know its banned, but someone may have some left. From what Im told, the new stuff just isnt as good. Its the same problem with fridge freezers too. John
  21. Someone surely must have installed an autobox cooler for a Jap non-turbo ? I think I can figure out the parts I need, its just the mounting of it I am not sure about, being as the n/a has no engine oil cooler or brackets up front. Thanks John

Try Foreign Car Spares Ltd. in Birmingham. They are a salvage co. 0121-327 8214 John
  23. Well, let me re-phrase that, it is not designed for Jap N/A that does not have an engine oil cooler, according to Luke. John
  24. The Zcentre kit will only work on a UK one, that already has the engine cooler. John
  25. How long do these heater cores last ? Is it inevitable that they will go sooner or later? John
