  2. I have to agree with that, having looked at the performance figures for the S8 even a standard zed woud have no difficulties taking one on.
  3. I was overtaking a Audi S8 (340bhp version) on a duel carrage way when he decided to put his foot down, so I wasn't having any of that and put my foot down as well, I gained on him very easily with up to about 10-15 car lengths and then he gave up lol. Mind you I have an extra 50bhp on him and the zed weighs considerably less.
  4. I never get asked what it is, I got the Nissan stamped in the front central pannel, and 300zx writen on the rear center pannel lol.
  5. If your going to put a 1.3 rad cap on then it would be a good idea to replace all the rubber water hoses as any weekness may show up if you increase the pressure (its a good idea to replace them anyway if you havnt already done so) Also get an alloy lower radiator pipe as "During sustained high speed driving, the long and soft stock Lower Radiator Hose has a tendency to collapse and cause cooling problems." Water wetter can bring down your water temperature as well.
  6. lol, I stoped doing the homebrew now, but yeah I used to make it, beer, wine, and my favorite, Apricot brandy. I brewed the Apricot brandy to about 22% alcohol, which is as high as you can get it without distilling. I toyed with the idea of distilling and making some rocked fuel, but its a very tricky and dangerous proccess if you get it wrong. :duffer: :duffer:
  7. I don't know how to do that, and not sure if I trust a garage to do it either just in case they mess it up and i'm not able to stop!
  8. Thanks for that m8, looks like I must have big feet then lol.
  9. Just wondered if somone could compare this picture with their zed. I think the brake pedel is a bit close the the accelerator and keep catching it with my foot when I brake, or maybe I just have big feet lol. Thanks.
  10. And the Saab 95 Aero with the high flow turbo is 250bhp it also has over boost which takes it to 270bhp when you really floor it. I went out in my mates and I tell thee I was very suprised how well it pulled, torque was amazing.
  11. Yeah I had a cheapo PSU blow out on me, very scary. It took out my mobo but everything else survived. I always buy a decent one now I have learned my lesson lol.
  12. Its not just the cats that can cause the seal to go. I have been decated for 3 years and NO problem with smoke on idle, rinning 15.5 psi as well. But 3 months ago I decided to repace the mid section and exits to mongoose stainless steel, and THEN it started to smoke on idle as soon as I started the car. I think there may be some restrictors in the standard mid section, looking at it when I removed it, the pipes narrowed in places.
  13. WOW drag slicks, baybe T/C aswell?
  14. Here is the link http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=6898545938552136921&q=300zx
  15. He red lines it and pulls away with little wheel spin and gets 10.8 1/4 mile, how does he get such good traction? If I did that in my zed I would be wheel spinning all over the place and he's got more power than me!
  16. I have been told the inserts are flame retards what ever that means.
  17. I was thinking of maybe changing the brake fluid to dot 4 race spec as I have heard dot 5.1 which I use can cause spongy and unresponsive braking. Yes I know what you mean Legreth about loosing the "feel" by gaining responsiveness as I think the brakes on the Focus are way too responsive and less predictable, but thats ok for a family car. I would of liked the zed to be a bit more responsive though, who knows what it would of been like when it was a new car.
  18. Yeah one thing I noticed when testing the Focus was just how sharp the brakes was, you only have to press lightly and it brakes hard, were as with the zed you really have to press very hard to get the same results.
  19. Ok standard 60-0 braking distance is 125ft. I have near stock setup: New disks all round standard size, front are grooved, rear standard, brake pads are mintex, brake fluid is dot 5.1, and finally I have braded brake lines. Results: 60-0 braking distance is 113ft. So thats 12ft knocked off the distance, I suppose it all helps. To put it in perspective I tested the brakes on my dads 2 year old Ford Focus and got 111ft 60-0. So my zed has virtuall the same 60-0 stopping distance as a modern family car, which I suppose is not bad. But yes I agree with many on here the brakes on the zed should of been manufactued with much more powerfull brakes as it is a car capabe of extreemly high top speeds.
  20. Some how I just can't see a vx turbo do 170mph+ lol. My mate's zed in safety boost did 170mph. Oh yeah the vx turbo will easily out handle any zed, but on todays busy roads you'll wont get a chance.
  21. I was told by a tuner it is 20% loss for a rear wheel drive car, and 15% loss for a front wheel drive car.
  22. Nice write up. It take me back a couple of month when I did my rear bushes, man what a time consumeing job that was! And don't forget to replace your brake pipes while your at it.
  23.   Very good.
  24. If its not raining I'll be off to Rotorstock on Monday.
