PC help please
Hi guys, thanks for your help. I have run the Blaster Virus checker from Symantic and said all was clear but I will run it again though. And I did let it run correctly because it took over an hour to check all drives. My PC at the moment it set connected to a hub and the other network card is plugged into the cable modem. I share the internet connection with who ever is on the hub, which most of the time it is just my computer and my dads, but he does connect his laptop and my girlfriend connects hers every now and then to get updates, but its nothing to do with that I dont think. I showed to picture of the MotherBoard Monitor to show you my volts as that can cause problems. Im not too up on the Volts part but I presume that the volts being very slighty under the stated level is OK. Gio: Yeah I have Adaware installed and its a great program. I reinstall windows about every 6 months because of all the stuff that accumilates and this installation of Windows is only 2 months old at the most and was done on a new HDD.

PC help please
The voltages are all within the required ranges. MotherBoard Monitor shows you the voltages and they all seem to going well I think I will run a scan disc and see if that turns up anything. I will also try to install all the drivers again and see if that helps. When the blue screen comes up it tells you a file name at the end which I never manage to take notice of what it is. It may well be a driver file. Attached is a image of Mother Board Monitor showing my voltages and temperatures. My first Motherboard used to problems with the +12V and would often go over 13V. I changed the motherboard and it worked fine after that. Stuart

What do you dislike about the 300ZX?
Headlights go without saying. Rust :( (Especially mine :() Terrible sound system and terrible stock places for the speakers. Foam rear spoiler. The really tight shiny leather seats. I had to think really hard about that and even then I wasn't that bothered by most problems, only the lights which I now think of a challenge to use them. ;) What rubber seals on show? All I can think if are the window seals which can be seen anyway regardless of whether the T-Tops are on or off. Stuart

Help, speedo probs
Ok God. There are places which can calibrate your dash again. I think Z centre do, as they sell dial faces and offer a fitting service. Give them a call http://www.zcentre.co.uk You will probably have to send it off to them or drive down there. I suspect that the revs, water and fuel gauges are not correct then. You can try to get a 2nd hand dash, but there are not many NAs and I am not too sure whether a NA dial is mechanically different to a TT dial. I would ask ZCentre first see if they can fix the problem first. Stuart

PC help please
I am actually thinking something is over heating to be truthful. I have MotherBoard Monitor 5 which tells you your CPU Outer and Core Temperatures, Hard Drive temperatures and Case temperature, and all though things are a little hot, they are within working parameters. However could my graphics have fried and cause the errors? My dads graphics card packed in about a week ago and I am wondering whether mine is on its way out too as we bought the same card probably from the same batch. Other ideas I have is the power supply is a little weak. I am running a 350W supply on a Barton AMD 2800, 3 Hard Drives, CD Re-Writer DVD Re-Writer DVD Player, Floppy, Zip Drive, and then 2 Network Cards and a Graphics Card. Could the power supply be struggling? I have disconnected the the 2 CD drives but my computer still locked up. Suggestions any one? Clarkey: Yeah I run update every few days so I am always upto date with Windows stuff, firewall and virus definitions. Plus it tells me when there is an update when I boot my computer up. Stuart

PC help please
Does any one know of a virus that is going round which causes your computer to lock out when accessing the internet? Quite a few times now I have had my computer freeze for no apparent reason. I think I have narrowed it down to the internet, as if I turn the modem off my computer seems to last all day with out any problems. However about 30 mins into using the internet my computer is likely to freeze. A few times I have had a blue screen error saying something like Windows has shut down my computer because something tried to wrtie to a read only sector and shutting down would prevent damage. Could this be a virus? Does any one know of one which is going round at the moment which can cause this? I have a fire wall and I often update my virus definitions and do a full system scan at least once a week. I have ran it lately and all is clean and I am safe gaurded against the Blaster virus or what ever its called. On another note, could it be my network card failing causing it errors when getting information from the modem? Any help apretiated, Stuart

oil pressure / rear turbo seals
Your oil pressure should be OK if you have the right amount in. The oil pressure will change as the temperature goes up. I think the manual says between 60 and 71PSI at 3000 rpm when fully warm. There is a pressure release system in the engine which will not allow the pressure to go over 90psi I believe. But too high pressure tends to to break oil seals and rings in the engine. Stuart

turbo inspection
I think the only way is to look at your turbos and see if they are damp with oil at all.

Front number plate on 99 spec
The law is now, that IMPORT cars can have the same size plate as the country it came from. I think this is due to the air flow blocked by a larger plate. However UK ones must have a full sized ones regardless the fact whether there is no difference between most Jap and UK spec cars. If you get pulled and you drive a Jap import they can not make you change the size of the plate IF you have a Japanese sized number plate on. If you have any other sized one, bar UK size, make you change the size and issue a fine. Stuart

Engine struggling at top end.
I think it is the same. I have noticed it a few times even if I put my foot down a long way but not all the way I still feel sluggish. I am thinking AMF like Stuart said but I am also thinking turbo leak as I can hear them an awful lot. Stuart

Engine struggling at top end.
Some one on 300zxclub said that cylinder 6 could not be working as cylinder 6 is only used when you floor it? Am I missing something or he is talking rubbish? Stuart

Engine struggling at top end.
I have had it decatted. I actually think it is since I have had the proper exhaust Gaskets put on. Since then my car is silent. Its very smooth up to 3000 rpm then you notice it struggling. I was thinking air flow too. It could be injectors but I would have thought that woudl cause detonation. Stuart

Engine struggling at top end.
I noticed a week ago, they my car is struggling at top end. I floored it in 3rd and the revs struggled to get over 5000rpm. At the rate it was going up, I think it would have ran out of power before 6000rpm. Any ideas what it could be? Stuart

Odd markings on exhaust
Do you mean scratches on the inside of the tail pipes? I have them, I think its just where the metal has been rolled. You dont notice them at first because they are clean, but then the engine soot gets stuck in the scratches you can see them. If you look closely you can see slightly darker lines on the inside of the pipe. These are little scores, which you cant really see when they are very clean but stand out when dirt gets stuck in it. Is this what you mean? Stuart

Which new Z?
All UK 300ZX are 2+2 Twin Turbo and T-Top. If you have a year or so you are prepaired to wait. If you are looking for a UK Z with that amount of miles you will have to wait. There are some out there but not many and you may have to wait a while to get it. J Reg Z's I think are still the series 1 Z and L reg will be Series 2. There are a few very minor differences. The main one is the air con controls. The series 1 controls are all automatic but allows you to manually set the fan power high or low. It also shows you the outside temperature. Series 2 air con controls doesnt show the outside temp, but gives you more control where the air blows and has more fan settings. The L reg may have pre-cats, I know the M reg does. This means very little just it will take a very small amount of power away. Stuart

If you could change the colour of your Z what colour would you do?
That little black thing on the front of the bumper? Its a parking arieal. A button is pressed and it pops up so you can see where the end of the car is. Stuart

Cats?
They are at the end of the downpipe. Look under your car and where the exhausts come very close there are heat shields around the exhaust which looks like a metal plate with holes in. They are side the downpipe where the heat shields are. Stuart
