  1. It is nearly as sad when my friend taped Indecent Proposal (Spelling) with Sharon Stone. The part when she uncrossed her legs me and my mates paused it. However he had a naff video recorder which didnt have frame by frame pictures and the pause would take a second or two before doing it. We had to get the timing right. When she says "Have you ever f**ked on cocaine Nick?" You can hear a clock in the back ground. We had to press pause on the second tick of the clock after she said that. :D :D :D ;) I had an excuse. I was 14 at the time ;) Stuart
  2. Most oil senders are the same, but the big problem is probably trying to wire it up to the Nissan harness. Rich, Aftermarket are easy to do. If you get an electrical one, swap the old sender for the one you get with the dial, then get a long peice of wire, attatch one end of the wire to the oil sender, and then the other side to the back of the dail to the "S" or "Signal" terminal. Then all you need is a 12V feed (I got one from the cig lighter) and an earth (There are hundreds in the car) and the dial is working. The light bulb you splice into any light wire. Stuart

I would agree with the thermostat when failing staying open, but this is exactly what happened to mine. My engine was getting rather hot and I thought it was the thermostat, but was told that they fail by staying open. Weeks later the engine never got to temperature even with over an hour of driving. A few more weeks later I changed the thermostat which was stuck open slightly, but in theory because my over heating had nothing to do with the thermostat, after I replaced it, it should start over heating again. It never has and actually only just gets to operating temperature. When thermostats start to fail, they also react very slow and probably at the wrong temperature? Did any one see the video I made testing the new thermostat and the old one? The new one took 2 seconds to go from fully open to fully closed when dropped in cold water, the old one took over 2 mins. Same when placed in hot water. The new one opened fully in 2 secs the old one was slighly faster than before and opened in over a min. But in this min the water is getting hotter and hotter and the thermostat needs to open more but becuse it is slow it always behind. Stuart.

Its on the chassis plate where the VIN number is at the front of the engine. It is on a UK anyway. Stuart

The engine will never reach full operating temperature then. Which means always on choke and safty boost. Wont be good for MPG and considering he is going for a custom chip it will need to be working properly. Also the oil will be cool and may never reach the temp where it works the best which means more engine wear. Stuart

Good luck. But if you want to change it tomorrow before you go, give me a shout if you need help. Stuart
  8. I was looking at their site and they do exchanges on turbos from cars which have Garrett as standard. What was the cost of your turbos on your car? And what type are they if you dont mind me asking? Stuart

What you are discribing is what happened to mine. First of all the car started to over heat. It was fine one day and then over heating the next. It then just as quick started to not even warm up at all. However I wasnt losing any water. But you could be losing some through the rad cap because its got so hot. Stuart

I thought the thermostat when stuck closed, would cause the water temp to over heat but the heater will still work. Adam, if you want I can try nip down to yours and help you fit a new one if you want? Either now. or early tomorrow. See if Halfords have one in. Stuart
  11. Any one use these turbos from these? Are they any good?
  12. I was going to get a 99 spec bumper but every one has them now. Well not every one ;) But you get what I mean. :p

Stock for stock. Auto is heavier, Auto is less powerful at the flywheel, Auto has lower lifting cams, Auto has more transmission loss, Auto has smaller turbos. ;)

Can I just point out that you are talking about 2nd had engines here. Can you gaurentee the 2 engines where in top condition? That both engines where running perfectly at the time? You cant compare 2 engines when you dont know what they have been through.

Still be fast? Still? I think it has just been prooven that the Auto is heavier, loses more power through transmission, doesnt have as close gear ratio, has smaller turbos. I dont know 1 person who has done a auto-manual conversion and said it was slower. Quite the oposite as I recall. Stuart
  20. This happened to me on the train a few times  Just told to get off in the middle of nowhere.

There are loads of places which can do a simalar system. Its called an "auto to manual conversion" Not only will you be able to change gear when you want, you will also get an extra gear too ;)
  22. Is the estate rear wheel drive? If so the Z would be better as estate's rears are very light and dont grip well.
  23. Check at the back of the car. Most people froget about there when checking for powersteering leaks.
  24. My first year with 2 cars. Past years I have driven the Z and had to stop at the bottom of the street sometimes because they car cant get up the hill when its snowed.
