I think they should too. Some counties do that and to me they are genuine places for cameras, as they are clearly signed and remind you of what speed you should be doing. Many times I have been following some one approaching a camera and they brake hard just incase the limit is 30 and not 40. Its dangerous.
  2. What? That is very good! Who did that?
  3. I found there was a difference when I used Optimax. The car was more responsive, smoother and did slighly more to the gallon. If you are going to use it, fill the tank up with it when you are nearly on empty, this way you wont get a mixed batch of normal and optimax where you really wont feel the difference.
  4. I thought you would have got something more known and established as a Japanese car Managment system. I mean the DTA door sticker will look out of place next to your Greddy, BlitZ and Pentroof ones. ;)
  5. UK ones are meant to run on Unleaded. Jap imports are OK too. Its only when you modify the engine the need for super unleaded important
  6. Its not vital but advantagous. Get it if you can but dont drive 30 miles for it. Try using BP Ultimate. Stuart
  7. Typical LOL ;)
  8. Read MAC's post. Its what he feels. I am just pointing out possible problems with his views. People have suggested 100mph speed limit. Has any one been in an accident on the motor way? I have and at 60mph the car was totaled and the boot of the car was pushed through the back seats. At 100mph we all would have been dead. I just wanted to point that out because there seems to be a lot of BS going on. People just think because they have a fast car they have the right, and what seems to be the most disturbing thing, think they have the skill to drive over the speed limit. I have lost count of the number of people who have lost the back end and thrown the car into a tree, bush or kurb. I bet those people would have said they where not bad drivers, and virtually all have confessed to having a little fun or flooring it when it happend. I think we are very lucky that we haven't lost a forum member because of this.

There was one of these in Southport. I came off an National Limit road onto a normal road. I thought it was a 40mph road and was doing just under 40. A sign lit up saying, "Speed limit 30 Your speed 37" I immediatly slowed down as I didnt know the limit but now did. If there was just a speed camera there I would have carried on at around 40 thinking its a 40 limit. What would be better? Me getting a ticket for speeding down a road which I didnt know the limit and will never go down that road again, or notifying my of the speed limit so I can continue at the correct speed?
  10. 1. But its not just at school gates where children will be at begining and end of school. So just imposing speed limits near school gates is not enough. 2. I think that is a little excessive, but I think they should take their test when they are older and have to take it every few years. 3. Again it is excessive. I agree that something has to be done because you can pass your test in a Corsa and jump in a Ferrari. Something has to be done but 1 litre until you are 25 is excessive. 4. 70mph is still one of the fastest speed limits in the world on a highway/motor way. The problem is, increase the limit to 80 and people will do 90, increase it to 100 and people will do 110, 120. Don't say they wont because they will and you know they will. From what you say you dont drive at 70 so that rest the case. Also having a 24 year old driver trying to accelerate on to a motorway in his 1 litre small car with their wife/husband and 2 small children and have some one hit them from behind at 100mph will kill the people in the small car. A 1 litre car with that much wieght would struggle to reach 70. 5. It is illegal to ride side by side unfortunatly there are no cameras which will catch them.
  11. That happened to my dads car a few years ago. We thought it was stolen because we couldnt find his blue car
  12. I agree that speed people are jumping on the band wagon, but I noticed you want to get to a destination quickly before safely. If you left earlier you would get there on time. I also agree that some old people should not be driving and personally I think when you reach a certain age you should take your test again. So what do you recommend for young drivers? They are taught how to speed round at high speeds? Now you are just living in a dream world. Congratulations you have never had a SP30 or maimed a child, but with you speeding round I think that is down to luck rather than your apparent self confessed good driving. Drivers always seem to be the target when some one is run over but with people with your attituide around its not surprising. Because you are saying, Old people should not drive, Women drivers are a menice, Motorway limit should be 100mph, any one driving at a speed when the car does the most MPG should be illegal on the motorway, Young drivers should be taught to drive faster, Speeding is OK when the conditions are right, Lorries should stay off the motorways and drive through towns past schools and houses, No wonder there are so many anti driving attitudes in this country when there are people like you with your selfish ideas, because you are the self confessed greatest and safest driver and you speed on purpose. Stuart
  13. 100MPH limit on the motorway and fine people doing 50-60? You was having some credability to your argument until you stated that bulshit! So you want to make it illegal to drive at the speed where the car is at its most efficeint? You want to have cars doing 100mph when other cars are trying to accelerate onto the motorway. Lets face it not all cars can go 100mph. My Corsa daily driver struggles to get to 70 when the tank is full. Also increasing the limit to 100mph as you said will encourage people to drive 100mph when the car is not desigened to go that fast. On most small cars the brakes will explode at that speed on an emergency brake. Their tyres are not desigened to go that fast and have a risk of over heating and blowing out. Blow out at 100mph on a busy motorway! Thats a bright idea from you. It has feck all of how confident you are on as a driver. With your argument, confident drivers should not be on the road as most car fatailities are caused by miss judgement or being over confident. Like you said its not driving too fast which causes the problems its driving too fast for a corner, or a type of road, and its people with confidence who try to take a corner faster than they should and end up having a head on collision killing all the people in the other car. Every week the news paper has a story of young drivers being killed and apparently not breaking the speed limit, its their over confidence in their driving and car which killed them
  14. What was 12.7? The RX-7?
  15. There is no Yorkshire/Lancashire rivalery. Its only North/South!!! ;)
  16. I know. I wasnt implying that. I was pointing it out to Pete who my his own experience, gets different vaules at the flywheel depending on the RR.
  17. I dont know what make they are. I got them from my local tyre shop, but I have seen them in *cough* Halfords Stuart
  18. Try getting different sized wheel nut. The one I use the key is the same size as the socket needed to get it off if you know what I mean
  19. That is why you should really go off wheel hp.

    Z works out to a about 170bhp/TON saying 280bhp and 190bhp/ton with 300bhp. Torque is 283ft/lb I think
  21. I agree. I have learned alot reading information on here, I have also learned alot about some people while reading this too. ;) There is no 1 correct formula to making a car work better/more powerful. I know I am not doing things the most common way people have done similar things. This may be why cars in the US are more powerful as they accept there are no set rules for tuning an engine. They push the boundries, go off on a tangent and come up with some different results. The main difference is that I am doing the work myself. Obviously not the boring and honing and stuff. But at the end of the day I can take pride that I have done all this myself. It's one thing to put your car in a garage, give the mechanic a blank cheque and leave it. Its another thing to spend several hours a day taking the engine apart, labling stuff so you know where it goes back ;) In the end this will be MY engine, not something that I paid for. What ever the out come of it I will be happy, as it will deffinately be more than what I had before as the compression was very low. The intercoolers, lightened pully alone will make the car run better not to mention ported head and the harness will be better than the one in. :D
  22. Bet you mine is in more bits than yours. LOL Most of mine is in plastic bags under the work bench in the garage.
