  1. Well we wish you all the best however it turns out, and we really do hope that it works this time mate. We were both really stunned by your bad news last time, and didn't know what to say. Chin up bud, and down a few :duffer: :duffer: ;) Take care Rich. Dave & Karen
  2. I know what you're saying Alan, if it's a genuine case of whiplash then fair do, but putting it on and then claiming is adding to all the insurance price hikes all the time. Well done to you for sticking to your morals. We're slowly turning into a 'Sue-Everyone' state, it's bloody ridiculas (SP)
  3. OMG!!!!! And women say that we are sad spending our time in here. The bit that gets me is that most of them have the coutndown markers in their signatures
  4. Really sorry to hear this Alan mate, hope you can get it sorted for a reasonable price.  Thats only 4 feet of polystyrene!!!!!!
  5. For anyone interested in building one themselves, HERE is one of the How-To guides I've been reading.
  6. Thanks guys for the interest, never thought that so many of you were already thinking along the same lines. I'll try to address a few of the mentioned issues here, as I see them..... Using a P4.... I've read quite a few HTPC build guides, and although all of them mention about the noise levels, not one of them say that cooling a P4 is any more of a problem than any other, as long as you find good quality SILENT fans. What OS am I using... I will be using Windows XP, Media Center Edition(2005). This is available from quite a few on-line (and probably high Street) retailers, as a OEM version, but normally ONLY if you pruchase a major component at the same time. I was intending to purchase most of my parts from Ebuyer.com, as they see to have the best overall prices. Pk1, I'll contact you nearer the time of my build and see what you can do for price :D  Sound cards.... This is somthing that has been a pain in the ar5e for me as well. As for you having a separate Dolby decoder, then you should be able to use S/PDIF out from the sound card, or if your mother board has this, then use that and don't bother with a sound card at all. Saying that, I'm not sure what conections the S/PDIF uses, I'm sure someone on here can tell you. WiFi... Yes I already have all the components for that :D 64 Bit... no I havent considered one, I think thats a little overboard for what i want at the moment.
  7. Well, untill someone comes back at me and dissagrees with me, then I stick with what I just posted, 5th gear ISN'T for acceleration, it's for cruising.
  8. Correct me if I'm wrong (and I'm sure people will ;) ), but isn't the use of 5th for cruising? As it's not an acceleration gear.
  9. I would have thought that if you ONLY stick to the facts concerning a bad trader, (as in personal experiances only, and not hearsay) then there is nothing that they can do about it?!?!
  10. Danny, as far as I'm aware it will support 2 x TV cards, as long as they are MCE approved (which the Avermedia one is) Originally I was going to go for two of these cards, but as the (propossed) new TV set-up is IDTV, and I'm still going to keep SKY, then I decided to do away with (and save a bit) the second card, also freeing up another PCI slot. Lamp, as for the soundblaster, I picked this one out as I have a Sony surround sound processor, but it is a Dolby Pro-Logic processor, with 5.1 pass-through, so i just need a simple sound card with Dolby Digital and DTS decoding built-in.
  11. Another project on the go is building a Windows Media Center PC. I've done quite a lot of reaserch into what would work well together, and generally how to go about it, but I'm yet to decide on which case to use. My current choises are... The AHANIX D.Vine D5 Or the Thermaltake Mozart VC4001SNS Thermaltake's Mozart is cheaper, and comes complete with the preinstalled VFD panel, whereas the D.Vine is more expensive and the VFD panel is extra. The spec for the rest of it should be............ Intel Pentium 4, 3.4 Gb processor, ASUS P5GD1 motherboard Kingston 1 Gb DDR ram memory, Seagate Barracuda 300Gb hard drive, Soundblaster Audigy 4 sound card, Connect 3d X700 Graphics card, Avermedia DVB TV card (HDTV Ready), LG Dual Layer DVD writer What do you recon?? ;) EDIT** Just added a Build Guide link to post 12 below.
  12. Thanks guys, looks like 2006 is going to be my year :hyper: All I need now is the signature on a peice of paper approving my new job (less than two weeks to go  ) and everything should fall into place :D :hyper: :duffer:
  13. I think you've got a bit of a colour match issue there :D ;)
  14. Nothing too drastic or even all that exciting :D Just having a small rust patch sorted, all the stone-chip removed, then getting the modded rear bumper painted the proper colour, along with a new 99 spec rear spoiler added. All the brakes want sorting, and I'm still undecided what I'm doing about the wheels yet. There arn't going to be any power mods (well not yet anyway ;) ) it's all visual at the moment.
  15. :D Offer came in and was accepted by myself this morning, so I've finally sold the house :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :duffer: I might have a beer or two tonight, just to celerbrate ;) If all goes according to plan, then I should have the money about two weeks after my redundency money, so project Eliza will be starting about then as well :D
  16. If this happends to anyone else while doing this job, simply use WD40, it'll remove it. ;)
  17. There was one at JAE last year, this is the best pic I can find of it at the moment.... It's the red one at the rear ;)

WTF? Am I missing something?
  19. You are indeed right, I should have put it across more as a question as to how he had done it, rather than assume he held it or braced it. The original statement wasn't clear and could lead to someone injuring themselves, and I wouldn't want that to happen to someone on here.
  20. There used to be a link to the 'How-To' on the ZXDriver site, but I think he's become wise to that and changed it, as it no longer works.
  21. Thanks mr_red  nice bit of info there. Might give this a try when I put the Zed back on the road. Hmmmmm, more money, lol
  22. http://www.mx5.co.uk worth a look :) And http://www.mx5city.co.uk
  23. ;) Mines got a hole in it there as well, as that is were I put my rear fog lamp switch.
  24. If you have red filters, then you'd use the white led bulb, the second link in post one.
