Nissan Uk - Don't Use Them
Well guys, after trying all the usual suppliers in the UK, could'nt locate the wiring loom. So thought I'd try my luck with a work contact in Yokahama. He kindly popped down to the local Nissan dealer and they've got some in stock. And the best bit.....it's 268 including taxes and airfreight, compared to 405 my local dealer wanted. Talk about RIP-OFF and inflated profits!!! Shame there isn't an "official "means of importing parts directly from Japan like the States.

Geoff m8 - are you a psychic or what? You're right, it's silver and in a garage in Kingston having some work done. Do you use the same garage? I've seen a few Zed's in there over the past few weeks, a blue, a red and a Cobalt blue one with a full strozek (sp!) kit on it. Are one of these yours? So, do you recommend the JWT and where did you get it?

turbos - repair or exchange
Also try Turbo Developments (020 8560 3927). Very helpful, knowledgeable and quick turnaround. They can provide uprated Garrett GT25 turbos for much the same price as the standard units. Watch the insurance though!

Hey Jock, how you doing? Yep, have been busy and I must say, a lot poorer from all the efforts! Haven't been posting much but have spent a hell of a lot of time searching and learning from the forums. Some really excellent advice and info. Is your 99 front done? Post some pics. We'll have to sort out a mini meet once my car's back on the road.

I've pretty much stuck to the standard mod route to try to achieve 400 BHP and 14psi. So far, thats included an exhaust, induction, uprated turbos and dump valves. The brakes and suspension have also been uprated so I thought the natural next progression would be to up the boost by way of a chip and boost controller. So, once this is done, I guess the only way to see the output and ensure everythings working in harmony across all bands is to stick the Zed on a rolling road.

Hmmm, Belgium, could be bit of a drive..... Thanks guys. The SE option is becoming more appealing. I'll have to call them to discuss further. Also discovered that TDI in Essex do a HKS piggyback upgrade to the existing ECU. Good gains but prices are high and I don't know what other peoples' experience is with this particular item. Any takers? 51x - Please let us know how you get on on Friday, particularly if you think the RR is worthwhile and whether or the car feels any better. Stuart - Always wanted to ask what dials you have. They're funtastic!

Powerchip
I'm planning an ECU upgrade and electronic boost control install. Does anyone have experience of the Powerchip in terms of performance and reliability?. I know from searching the forum that JWT and SE's come highly recommended and the Superchip is best avoided. Problem is: 1. Can't locate a JWT supplier in the UK. Advised that even if I do, it's probably cloned or not set for UK fuel! 2. Need someone in or around the London area to undertake the installation and finely tune on a rolling road. SE are localish but understand they don't have a RR. A JWT, set for the UK and tuned on a dyno would be ideal. Am I asking for too much or can someone recommend some options/people/places that can supply and do the necessary work? Thanks

Nissan Uk - Don't Use Them
I spoke to Concept and Courtesy in the US. Both didn't recommend ordering the loom from them for the same reasons you guys mentioned. Bummer because the price they quoted was half what my local Nissan dealer wants, even with delivery and duty! Nelson m8 - great idea, but who do we contact?

Nissan Uk - Don't Use Them
Excuse my ignorance, but how do you order OEM parts directly from Japan? I desperately need a new engine wiring loom for my Jap spec Zed. Local dealer quoted £405 - delivery: "some time in early Aug". What a service....NOT! Do you have a any contact details in Japan. Would love not to be screwed by Nissan UK once again. Thanks

Traction Control
Does anyone know of a group buy for the Racelogic TC. If not, where's the best place to order one? Cheapest kit (including launch control) I've seen so far is £553+vat. I know some guys on the forum have fitted it themselves but I wouldn't have a clue. So who fits them in the London or surrounding Surrey/Kent area? Cheerz.

Who's running on GT25 turbos
Thanks guys. Sorry to be a simpleton, but am I correct in thinking that the JWT ECU upgrade will take care of the fueling? TBH, I'm not really looking to go beyond 14psi/400BHP at this time (turbos, belts, brakes, ECU etc have already done some serious damage to the wallet!!!). Sorry TopLess, I did mean to say a boost control install rather than a boost upgrade. Cheerz.

Who's running on GT25 turbos
Am having a pair installed in the next few days and was wondering what boost I can run without having to mess about with the intercoolers, pistons etc. I'll probably upgrade these later, but I need to sort the ECU and boost first. Is it best to stick with a JWT ECU and boost control upgrade to complement the larger turbos or should I be considering something else? At the end of the day I wanna try to achieve a good spool up, the turbos reaching max efficiency at mid to upper range of engine speed. Any advice very much appreciated.

Suspension
I know what you mean about the weight transfer - must be the Zed's extra lard! Am in the process of having some Koni's fitted and thought I'd uprate the springs at the same time. However, was advised not to lower the car by a few specialists and couldn't locate any progressive springs that didn't lower the Zed. Advised to go for a anti-roll bar kit instead, so ended up getting a Stillen adjustable kit which should make cornering a bit more fun, without compromising ride quality. Polybushes also seem to be the way to, judging from some of the guys' experience on the forum. Don't exactly know prices but I think they're about 200 - 300 squids front and back plus of course, the fitting which isn't a small matter I've been told.

99 front end
Very nice Jock. I'm definately gonna add it to my shopping list.

De-cattig is it a good idea!!
Thankz. I think I'm gonna do it!

De-cattig is it a good idea!!
Guys Also thinking of dumping the cats but have heard that noise levels, particularly inside the car, become a bit nasty. What's your experience. I know the sound will inevitably change but is it a lot more noisier?

PowerFlow Exhausts and Speedo
Would also welcome feedback. Spoke to their Croydon outlet today and got quoted 600ish + vat for a full stainless system, including downpipes/de-cat, fitted. Sounds cheap in comparison to some of the catback options available on the market.

Apexi Power Intake
Cheerz guys. Paul at Whifbits came up trumps - he did have one in the end. Took delivery of it today, together with some Porterfield pads. Good guy to deal with. Jock m8, doing well, except that the old wallet's beginning to weep. What started off as turbo replacement and service for my recently acquired Z has now mysteriously turned in to uprated turbos, suspension, brakes, bars, intake, belts.....Wife's started to question all the recent deliveries to the house. Luckily had the big items delivered directly to the workshop, otherwise there would have been a serious interrogation. Each time I call the workshop, or search this forum, I'm given a new idea. Must stop calling and searching!! You still thinking about getting a TT?

Apexi Power Intake
Desperately need an Apexi Power Intake kit. Tried Paul at Whifbitz but unfortunately, he’s not expecting delivery for 2-3 weeks. Does anyone know where I can get hold of one? Car’s with a mechanic at the moment for a serious sorting, thus the urgency. Thanks

Help a new Z owner
Thanks Guys. I wish I had the know-how, not to mention the confidence to tamper with anything under the bonnet. I'll let you know how I get on with the guy in Kingston (30mins from Croydon). He seems to know his way around the car. He had 2 other Zed’s in the workshop when I dropped off the turbo’s last night. One was in for a routine service, the other one had just been fitted with a full Paul Bailey kit and respray. But when he started mentioning £4K for the work, I stopped drooling… I’ve got 17’s on the wheels at the moment but the front tyres rub the inner arches on full lock. The car isn’t lowered and I was wondering whether this is a common problem or can I do something about it? I did want to replace with 18’s and was wondering what people’s experience with these is.

Help a new Z owner
Guys Just purchased a manual Jap 92 TT. I knew the turbo's were on their way out and so the car is currently with a recommended mechanic, awaiting recon turbo's, new timing belt, ancillary belts, water pump, plugs, fuel /oil filters, calipers and pads. This should, hopefully, bring the car to a good service level, ready for modification. The car already has an HKS exhaust set up to the cat which seems to be in good cond. I'm thinking of de-catting and also fitting either an HKS or Apexi induction system for starters. Members seem to rate the Apexi over the cheaper HKS. Are there any other suggestions or should I stick with the Apexi. If so, where's the best place to purchase one? I know some members are from the Croydon/Beckenham area in the SE. Can anyone recommend a good, reasonably priced mechanic around this area, who knows his way around a Z? I'd love to take the car to some of the recommendations, but it's just not practical, being in the SE. The guy sorting the car at the moment is in Kingston, Surrey, but he's not cheap. Before any further mods, I need to fix a poorly repaired front wing and respray the entire car. Does anyone know of a decent bodyshop in or around Croydon that won't rip me off? Is anyone still awake? If so, well done. Sorry to go on, but I really do need some guidance before I start splashing out some serious dosh. Any input will be very, very much appreciated. Thanks
