  1. Right - done a bit more homework. The oil pressure gauge is mechanical (hooray!) and the oil temp gauge is electrical. Pics are here: http://www.bernardnewbury.co.uk/shop/index.html?target=p_227.html&lang=en-us. Any ideas?
  2. OK - thanks guys. You've given me some interesting options to think about. Cheers
  3. Thanks Mac. They are the Ultra Lite electric ones. So what should I be asking the engineer to retap the threads to?
  4. Thanks. But does this mean there are no adapters on the market. If not, do you know the spec of the American thread (I thinks it's 1/8 NPT from another post) and what it should be tapped to for Jap spec Zed. Who can do the tapping and what's the approx cost? Sorry for all the questions, but really havn't got a clue on this one. Thanks again
  5. Just purchased a pair Autometer oil pressure and temp gauges. The sender units that came with the gauges are not compatible with the Zed:( . Any ideas where I can buy some adapters to fit? Tried various searches but no luck. Cheers
  6. For those that have SBC-iD and PowerMeter-iD installed together in the DIN space below the head unit, how do you protect them from prying eyes? I tried covering them with an old Halfords DIN sized head unit cover but this doesn’t sit comfortably over the ID’s and keeps falling off. Are there any other covers available? Any suggestions much appreciated. Thanks
  7. Cheers Cos, will give it a try.
  8. LOL. Slow, Zed - sorry Arthur, the two simply don't mix. Seriously though, I get the noise anything above 60ish. In fact, it sounds as if the window is slightly lowered but is actually closed. Martin - how would the seating of the wipers effect wind noise on the driver's window? I recall reading somewhere that the windows can be adjusted to tilt inwards or outwards. Anyone tried this and if so, what's the procedure? Thanks Guys.
  9. Does anyone know of a cure for excessive wind noise from the driver's window at high speed? The seal seems to be fine and the noise appears to emanate from somewhere where the glass edge meets the B pillar. Before getting a new seal is there anything else I can try? Thanks
  10. How about the retail park next to the Hilton Hotel on Purley Way, opposite TGI Friday. I think it's called the Colonnades. Plenty of free parking and there's a Harvester pub (or something similar) there too. Only a suggestion. James m8, was looking forward to seeing the vents in the flesh. Next time hey.
  11. Sounds good Mark. Only prob is that I'm unlikely to get the Zed back from the garage in time. But what the hell, it'll be good to meet the local boys, despite being Zedless! PS Thanks for the text re: chip. Definitely want one. Will call you later. Cheers
  12. Mark There's a guy I'm currently using in Surbition. He's a Jap specialist and very knowledgable on Zed. 0208 546 3600 and ask for Braba.
  13. Yep, definately try Lifesure. I have a classis car policy from them, underwritten by Royal Sun Alliance. It's an agreed value policy for £10k, limited to 5K miles per annum, with all the mods declared. They're happy to insure imports but insist on Cat1 and a garage overnight.
  14. Hmmm, interesting thought Chris - that may explain the water pressure being OK. If the feeds have been mixed, is it a case of simply swapping them, flushing the engine and heh presto or are there going to be other complications?
  15. Yep, the head gasket did cross my mind but I'd find this strange because it was fine before the turbo replacement. There wasn't a heating or water loss problem before the replacement. Only problem was black smoke from exhaust tails which has now been replaced with white smoke!!! Also if it was the gasket, would that not effect the water pressure? The mechanic performed a water pressure test and all was fine. Take your point on the labour charge but hoping it won't come to that.
  16. Guys Need your kind assistance once again. Was supposed to collect the Zed today after having new turbo's and other bits done. Just got a call from the mechanic informing me there's a problem :( He told me that somehow, water is getting in to the oil sump, resulting in white sludge on the dip stick and white smoke from the exhaust. He's checked the hoses, done a water pressure test and all is fine. Told me not to worry and he will investigate further on Monday. Whilst I do have faith in him, I am worried! He also said there may be a problem with the new turbo's but wanted to eliminate other possibilities before tackling the labourous turbo's. Does anyone have any ideas on what the problem is and more importantly, a cure? Thanks

  18. Whose been a busy boy now then. 99 front, new flash interior... is there no end to your talents Jock? Look forward to seeing pics when finished.
  19. Yep, mines a 92 as well. I arranged it yesterday and the criteria was that it had to over 10 years old. Spoke to a chap called Bill.
  20. Also try Lifesure if you're after a classic car policy with limited mileage (5K) and can garage the car overnight. They were by far the cheapest for me. Unlike some other classic policies, they're happy to cater for modified Jap imports. Mine is an import, modified to Stage 3ish, full NCB, London postal code - £498 fully comp.
  21. Hey Geoff I think you're right. Braba does like to talk about your car, but who can blame him. And as for my humble offering replacing yours, no competition I'm afraid. In fact, you should get a big fat discount from them for all the free promotion/advertising you've done for them!! You'll have to post some pics on the forum when the car's out. Feel free to PM me or give me a buzz on 07956 519199 anytime in the evening - have a couple of questions for you too. Cheerz
  22. Thanks Sid. Running on standard boost at the moment. Looking to increase it to 14psi by way of an ECU upgrade and boost controller. What kind power output did you achieve with the Powerchip?
  23. Interesting article Geoff. If you don't mind me asking, who fitted or is going to fit the chip for you. More importantly, when's that monster of your's gonna hit the tarmac? Mine should hopefully be out by the weekend!
