Noisy crank pulley
So are you confirming what Jeff has just said ... or are you way up the mod scale and getting some benefit? Alex & placebo :D

Noisy crank pulley
Thanks Jeff, the best thing I can do now then is have them fitted and see it as a performance placebo - that way it'll be incredibly effective won't it :nana2: oh yeh! Btw, do you have any new PCV hoses? i.e. a full set without the valves? Alex

Noisy crank pulley
Hi Jeff, Your email caused a wee frown! Just fitted an intake and mongoose and following a 120k service this coming week I was going to look into the ECU options. I'm about to have these fitted and err, given your note, should I expect nothing and/or pain from this mod given that I'm not even at stage I yet? Many thanks, Alex

Adjustable suspension settings
I'll take some pictures at the weekend. Are the KYB's OEM or aftermarket?

zed or supra
Is the Supra as reliable as the Ztt? I was very tempted in one too and think that a good one can be easy twice the price of a Ztt. The major attraction of the Ztt was simply it's looks and price - we all know it's not the fastest but it's not all that slow either. Bang for buck it's simply a great deal and if the style works - then why the hell not.

Adjustable suspension settings
Had the Z on the ramps and noticed the rear shocks have 4 settings. It's 95 model import, anyone know what the settings are? 1-4, they are both currently set on 2. The car doesn't have a Sports/Touring switch in the cockpit, and the front shocks also have 1/2/3/4 on them as well - are they adjustable too? I tend to drive slow and comfortable when the wife is around, then a bit manic when she's not. The front feels a bit soft... many thanks, Alex

wood car ramps
Perfect and exactly what I'll be doing tomorrow. Thanks for posting this John - I was wondering how best to raise it.

De-Cats Advice
When you say "can" improve, is it marginal e.g. 5hp or ? Also been looking into this and wondering if I'm going to get stung on the MOT if I remove the pre-cat's and de-cat it at the same time? p.s. is this going to make it real noisy too?

Greddy Side Mounted Intercoolers
A brand new (full) kit would set someone back about £600, so if you've just got the intercoolers, and if they are in top condition, then yeah £200 sounds like a fair amount, especially if you put them up for sale with all the bits required.

SWB or LWB??
Well, I'm not the best person to ask - by a long stretch of the imagination. However, this might be useful for you http://www.twinturbo.net/nissan/300zx/FAQ/appendixz.aspx Check out the "Stages" section. You could do the intake, exhaust and ecu bit with just the right kind of will. The intake is easy, as long as you clean your MAF properly at the same time. After warm-up air also needs to be managed and a bit of work on that is required at the same time if you want to do it properly. Otherwise, you'll find that you'll lose a few ponies due to combustion efficiency when the engine intake air is warmer than it has to be. You don't need to be skilled to do this, just know and plan what you're doing before you start. Plenty of web articles with images on this already exist. Exhaust is an easy mods too, but not cheap unless you're going for a used one. ECU options is something I'm still looking in to but more importantly is to ensure everything is ticketiboo before you start. For me, learning about this is real fun because I know very little about cars and engines too. Luckily, anything you or I would want to do with the Z has already been done right and wrong by thousands of people before us and many have shared the experience/mistakes/quick wins to make it easier for us. I am toying with the idea of doing a timing belt change and UD pulley upgrade myself...but I'm thinking that could well be above me....get it wrong and err, not funny. Stay in touch if you're going to make some changes...this forum has been tremendous. Regards, Alex

SWB or LWB??
I must admit, I did lol over that. That's right, mine thinks the Z is on loan from a mate... had it 2yrs now :) Planning to buy an XC90 next year because my Renault Laguna has tried my patience one too many times. I'll keep the rocket and she can drive the Volvo whenever... My brain is saying keep it sensible with the upgrades. I've already pushed it quite a bit on the top end and round corners so, now I'm doing the basics Full servicing, following the advice of others about prep work before upgrading and will take my time. At the same time I'm putting an intake in with a Mongoose quad cat-back and 245/45/16's all round on 8.5Js. New discs, pads, brake lines. Then I'll have the timing belt and underdrive pulley sorted, then the ECU, oil cooler and HKS tranmission box. And that's about it really, I think it's quite sensible and if I get 400hp I'd be v.happy - it is an auto. I'll lose a bit of weight as well (but not much) then have it fully resprayed. Finally, I'll sort the interior with some leather, but no rush on that. And as for the wife, she'll know that it's ours when I tell her that it has now been given to us because it needs some expensive work doing on it...:) What about you?

SWB or LWB??
Hilarious! Mine hated the idea because it's so old. Then I took her to Cambridge one evening for dinner. Let's just say I put my foot down and now the only thing she moans about is that it's actually not our car ;). You see, she'd have a fit if I told her it was actually ours :) And she'd have kittens if I told what I'm doing with it over the next couple of months. I'm not too concerned though, she never even noticed when I had the spoiler removed! :)

SWB or LWB??
You'd be surprised how useful those back seats are compared to a lot of other 2+2's out there. I mean, many I've seen have zero leg room unless the seats are fully forward. My 3yr old girl in a full size child seat has plenty of space, the wife doesn't think it's all that bad either. Frankly, that's one of the things that really makes this car for me. The 2+2 is very very good. The 2 seater SWB though has an awful lot more competition and I'd find it a bit harder to justfy buying one of those over the newer 350z.

ECU upgrade options on 94/95 auto TT
Where is the best place to get one of those?

ECU upgrade options on 94/95 auto TT
Thanks Andy, I'm on the edge of purchase. Can I get an ECU with perf. chip in the UK for mine? Any idea of price? I was looking at importpartspro @ $575 plus delivery - which I was thinking was fairly expensive? Questions, questions from a newbie... :)

ECU upgrade options on 94/95 auto TT
Is it a good alternative to do this plus a dyno tune? http://www.nistune.com/boards.htm If so - anywhere in the UK I can get this done in one stop? Cheers now, Alex

ECU upgrade options on 94/95 auto TT
Has anyone else upgraded/replaced their 94/95 TT Auto's ECU? If so, which route did you take - would you do it again? Just about to do mine and wondering what my options are. I've got a late model with 16-bit ECU. Am thinking about a JWT 8-bit swap out - anyone know of any other worthy options? Thanks, Alex

Please someone help me before i cry... autobox??
I've had mine 2yrs and no trouble either. I'm just wondering/toying with the idea of putting one of these on to help things. HKS ALC II Automatic Line Controller - Nissan 300zx http://www.importpartspro.com/hksalciiauli.html Anyone think this might help Pete's auto out a bit - or will it have no effect? Alex

Tuning
Btw, it's a jap import with stock injectors 340cc I believe. Btw, how do I check and know for sure? Any tell tale signs? Thanks, Alex

Tuning
Hi John, I'm also in the market and have been reading about the JWT ECU upgrade. I've got a late 94 model auto TT with a 16-bit ECU. Are you able to offer something for mine that is comparable to JWT? I'm looking at the Import Parts Pro web-site... Many thanks, Alex

Can I put 16" 8.5J's on the front as well?
Richard, Yes, got the pictures thanks, will PM you. About the wheels, totally agree but the stock jap import were 225/50/16's all round hence my question. I'm simply proposing to make it 245/50/16's all round thus everything should be ok right. Regards, Alex

Can I put 16" 8.5J's on the front as well?
or, I suppose the other option is to put 245/50's on both the front and rear correct?
-
Can I put 16" 8.5J's on the front as well?
Say Richard, I thought the UK fronts were 225/50/16's so just curious, why would I need 45's on the front? What difference would a lower profile make? Cheers, Alex

Know anyone who can do a timing belt in Berkshire or Bristol?
Cheers guys, I'll ping 'em and see if I can get something organised. Alex

Can I put 16" 8.5J's on the front as well?
Thinking about putting UK 8.5J's on the front as well as the back. Anyone think this should or can not be done with 245/50 tyres? Many thanks, Alex
