  1. Cheers for that mate. The Shockwaves range is definately more subtle but it's the price that's the killer. If you need approx 4 litres to spray the car plus one extra for touch ups in the future you're looking at the sharp and pointy end of around £800 whereas the good thing with Alsa corp is that even after adding on Delivery charges, Customs charges, Hazmat fees etc it still only comes to a little over £400 . Which is pretty good! :)
  2. Thanks for the info mate, it's appreciated. :) Had forgotten about that mate! :slap: :o :) Yup, if I went for a flip it would have to be subtle as I don't go in for any of those loud red to purple to gold jobbies. Plus it's not in tone with my "factory fitted" style, they can look a bit dull when the sun isn't out, they cost a fortune to maintain and IMO are a bit too close to Chav for my liking! :D And you're right about Lucie! The "Burning Ice" over a white base would apparently give a very subtle effect (it should be over black to achieve the full on flip or as the Americans like to call it "flop"!) but I'm just casting about for ideas. Alsa's Candy Concentrate colours look very nice as well...Bloomin' 'eck, I'm an artist! You'd think I'd be able to choose a damn colour more easily! :slap: ;) Yep, give me a bell whenever mate :) Leigh.
  3. Ok, I've been in touch with Alsa Corp and they can supply me with the "Burning Ice" paint from their Mystic range for a very reasonable price and advised me on the best base coat to achieve an effect that would be close to the TVR "Reflex Silver". However, I've been thinking of a few alternatives as TBH it's bloomin important, it's the last thing you do but it's the first thing you see. So...Satin paint What do we reckon? Not thinking black particularly, maybe a mid-dark silver/blue/grey mix. I like the subtle TVR-esque flip but the Satin looks quite aggressive and no-nonsense while still being different, not to mention the fact that it would be easier to touch up, as the car is used on a regular basis. Thinking maybe a Matt coat with a laquer on top to achieve the Satin look and avoid the inherent problems with using Satin paint without any coating: if you press against it, it can go Matt, if you rub it, it can look shiny. Like I said, what do you reckon? Good idea/bad idea? Leigh.
  4. Hi mate, just had a look at the DVD system on the net and it's not quite what I'm looking for and the laptop is not quite the spec I'm after so think I'm going to pass. Good luck with the sale mate :)
  5. Lol! ;) Might be interested in the In-car DVD player (and possibly the laptop) mate depending on the spec. PM me when you get chance :) Cheers, Leigh.
  6. Bob: Sorry I haven't gone further with this, I've let it slide as I've been concentrating on getting the bodywork finished! Still interested mate :) Just need clarification on the kind of aerial you stock if that's ok? Is it the "wire" type that you can run up the side of your screen/hide in the A pillar or is it another type? If it's easier to call let me know and I'll give you a bell tomorrow mate. Cheers, Leigh.
  7. Been working on the car over the weekend and here are a couple of photos of the progress so far. After the coat of high build primer that you can see in the attachments I put a final skim over the remaining areas that need attention. The numberplate is on crooked so it's throwing the balance off but that will be sorted ;) Quite pleased with how it's coming along so far. Tomorrow should see the final dry flatting then it's onto the wet and dry...:)
  8. Happy Birthday mate! :D
  9. Cheers Stu, thanks for that. BTW, nice to see you back on the forum! :D Leigh.
  10. Found this today while trawling the web :) It shows all Nissan's cars, including designs and some very interesting prototypes all in downloadable format (hi-res, black and white and low-res). Definately worth a look. Leigh. http://www.nissannews.com/multimedia/nd_50_anni.shtml
  11. Any chance you have a pic of where you placed them on the panel mate? How easy was it to re-site them? :) Leigh.
  12. Am liking the colour Dave, looks great! :D Leigh.
  13. Nice one mate. It'll be great to have her running well and back on the road! :D Keep us updated! Leigh
  14. Hmmm...yup, it think it might come down to that Rob! :D
  15. When it stopped raining I had another crack at smoothing the tailgate and altering the rear bumper today. All being well it should be finished by Saturday. However, while taking a break I tried to think if there was anything left I could get rid of and smooth over (as it seems I've done everything else! Check out my Rides for details :)). Looking at the washer jets I wondered if it might be possible to relocate them to the scuttle panel somehow. I also seemed to remember that there are some makes of wiper that have integrated jets...was wondering if that might be a possibility? Think the bonnet could look much better without them...then again I could be getting just a little obsessed with this smoothing lark! :D Any ideas guys? Leigh.

Crikey. An informative technical thread with not a mention of "which is faster? Red or black..." Savour it while you can folks because if you blink, you'll miss it. ;)

Before I changed direction and put the money towards bodywork and an engine conversion I was going to go down the In-car PC route. Not being very computer minded I found it a bit of a minefield sorting out exactly what I needed, trying to assess the best route to go down. Anyone fancy doing a FAQ outlining all the stuff you'd need and the different options available? I reckon people would be very interested! :) Leigh.
  18. Got the first rough skim of filler on today. Still lots more to do but it's starting to take shape :) Leigh.
  19. Very different but maybe a little bit toooo bling for my liking if I'm being honest! ;) That subtle TVR flip is about my limit! As a rule I don't really go for flips/metalflake etc. If this doesn't work out I'll go for a nice deep metallic probably.
  20. Holy cr@p Peter! £800 per litre!!  Looks like I'm definately going to have to find a similar alternative! That silver flip sample from Alsacorp looked pretty damn close though...
  21. Yup! Think you did that one based on this Alpha: I still like it but it's a bit tooooo blue for me now. Much, much, MUCH prefer that TVR colour. Bet I won't be able to get my mitts on it though  Might be a case of finding something similar... Cheers for the link Scubie, I had a look at it when it was first posted and some of paint on there is truly amazing!
  22. It's getting close to respray time for my Zed so I'm starting to try and get some decent ideas. My Zed was silver (I say "was" as now it's mostly primer or filler!) and I've always liked silver cars so I'd be happy to stick along those lines but at the same time it would be good to go for something a bit different. I've had an idea in mind for a while now, influenced believe it or not, by the Robocop films... :o...The colour of his body armour: I've seen a few Alpha Romeos that had a sort of similar colour but the closest I've found so far is on a TVR, which to my eye looks amazing! Without getting too bogged down in the whole "which colour is better/faster/brings world peace" debate :slap: , does anyone have any other suggestions along these lines? Or for that matter, does anyone know if you can buy TVR paint without actually owning a TVR?? ;) Cheers, Leigh.
  23. Totally agree with you mate, but I try to see or listen to stuff I might not usually go for just to expand my cultural experience. I may end up hating it, but at least I'll know what people are going on about...and there's always that chance that despite my preconceptions I might be suprised and discover I actually like it. Which is nice ;) :) As far as the Star Wars films are concerned, hell yes I like 'em (bar the abysmal Episode I and barely tolerable Episode II), but I definately don't consider myself a big fan of the series or Sci-Fi films in general. I like stuff that's a bit more unpredictable, for example Fight Club, Donnie Darko or anything by David Lynch! :D :D Anyway, twas just my tuppeny's worth before I go out to see Ocean's Twelve which I've been told by TonyC is terrible...but want to see for myself ;) Leigh.
  24. Sweet Jesus...I've just read my post again and I sound a little too like The Simpsons Comic Book Guy for my liking...pass the shotgun someone! :slap: ;)
  25. Anakin's "Force" ghost is no longer the original actor but replaced with Hayden Christensen!
