  1. I thought this but thought i might see some improvement, well fed up. will swap pump and see.
  2. Well, drove to work and holding back still there!!!!!! Still def feels like fuel :headvswal Don't know what to do now, have changed filter. Will look at pressure regulator and damper, but tested them with vac gauuge and was OK. Can't believe that the little tea bag filter was totally clogged and cleaning it out hasn't made any diffrence
  3. Jim, Just thought I'd update you, just had a look in the tank and discovered the little Tea bag type filter on the pump was tottally clogged with a brown shite!!! The stuff was hard and when it dried out just crumbled away. Cleaned it all off and wiped tank around but it is really rusty inside. I can only assume this is where it stood for 4 years with no petrol in the tank and the damp air has got in. Worth looking at before spending loads of money, its easy to get out, this would explain starvation and my noisy pump. Its a lot quiter now its not struggling but I haven't tried it on the road yet to see if its cured. It won't help anyway. Also found leak on fuel rail but that just tightened up. Will update you tommorrow after i do a journey today. Anyone out there got a clean petrol tank for sale????
  4. mine does this and its getting worse, just going outside to have a look at obvious stuff will let you know. Also if you do a search on Fuel/petrol smell theres lots on here.
  5. PS, Car really bad tonight, starts at about 4000 rpm then just holds back and kangaroos. Worst ever! I'd rather the bloody thing broke down at least I'd have a chance of fixing it, these intermitant problems are a Bast**D.
  6. Jim, I used to work at Baileys Nissan in Canterbury so can have the use of Consult when needed. I've also got another Zed which I can use to swop bits over to try out if I need to. Where you taking yours mate?? Are they someone you know?
  7. No probs Jim, just to let you know went out last night in the Zed. Journey there problem there, journey back no prob at all!!! Its weird. If I find it I'll let you know, gonna have a proper look on Tues or Wed next week when I've got some time. Have a nice holiday mate, make sure you save some serious wonga for your garage upon return. he he.
  8. This may well explain why its intermitant, sometimes stuck, sometimes not. Do you know if they are availble after market or Nissan only. Second hand it will probably be!!!
  9. Let us know jim if they come up with anything, cheers, jase
  10. ooow yes worth a try, is there anything that could be added to fuel that might stop it sticking?
  11. Carl, correct me if I'm wrong but if the regulator and damper were shot this problem would be there all the time? I've mentioned this problem before and tested both the regulator and damper with a vac gauge and both were fine. My hessitation isn't always present, it comes and goes, but does exactly what Jim's does.
  12. Also forgot ask Jim, mines worse if engine is loaded IE A/C on, what about yours??
  13. PS I'm gonna change my pump so will let you know.
  14. Jim, mine does this exact same thing!!!! It is not, on my car anyway, a boost leak. It feels like something electrical being knocked out, either by boost or by sheer amount of load. It is not over fueling, if it was, the exhaust would fill with fuel and you would either get smoke from the exhaust, as it burns in the exhaust, or flames as it runs properly. My theory, and it is only a theory at the moment, is that its a lack of fuel. I'm wondering if the fuel pump is not providing enough fuel pressure at the time when the engine is demanding max fuel. Don't know if anyone else has had this symptom and discovered fuel pump problems, I've done a search and don't come up with much although there is lots on hessitation/lack of power etc. The fixes range from temp sensor connector to PTU etc but not much on pump trouble, they either seem to work or don't work but I have known weak pumps before, that continue to provide pressure but run out of umph at the top end.
  15. Yeah, I know Quavey, have obviously checked it illuminated lights but have never used it on the road, have only done 2000 miles since engine rebuild so am still making sure its ok. I also always wondered what that little orange stick thing was, directly in front of shift lever, until it stuck in park as solenoid didn't work, so pressed it!!!!! Hey presto, it came out of Park. Doesn't help all the Jap writing!!!
  16. thanks guys, another mystery cleared up
  17. Reminds me of when I worked in a garage and a young guy came in and said he had just replaced his brake pipe but his brakes were still not great. Looked underneath to see he had cut out the rusty pipe only to replace it with vac pipe and at each end had put fuel pipe over the top with jubilee clips.(because he couldnt get vac pipe szed hose clip so had to put bigger pipe over the top!!). Nedless to say I demonstrated a hard brake and it split! How he got to the garage without massive failure I'll never know! Much worse than your attempt GS! The reason your glue never worked is cause brake fluid is not only greasy and corrosive(to paint work anyway) but its under pressure, doomed to fail, I don't know any glue that would with stand all that. Good luck, should be a cheap job though.
  18. When I accelerate hard my power light comes on. If I then go lite footed it will stay on for a short period then go off. Is this just telling me I should push the button? I've never used these buttons, what are your experiences guys? Jase
  19. Continuous surge! I like that, why did'nt I think of that. :headvswal
  20. Just changed my sender, £90 from nissan, 100% improvement. was reading zero when hot or maybe first mark, scared crap out of me. Worth getting new sender. Jase
  21. Mate I can hear mine all the time, it buzzs on start, then when it gets warm I can hear it all the time. Not loud, but there. I'm thinking of changing it but have been put off of the race spec ones as someone said they can be noiser and have less output!!?? Nissan ones are a fortune!
  22. Mate, the auto is not the same to drive as manuals, I know thats obvious, but with the recircvalves and no throttle shut off, cause you not changing gear, you don't get that kick as the Turbo boosts. Mines the same, I put my foot down and think this aint quick !! then look down and I'm rattling above 100 well quick and having to throttle back before I run into the back of that slow moving rep Mondeo travelling at 110!!!! Do check water temp semsor connection though, mine caused all sorts of holding back probs cause it was loose!
  23. Just changed mine to the Lucas stuff Wozzers listed ,actually on his and others recommendations. I have noticed a distinct diffrence in the box. More responsive, changes better and less creep at idle. Its not cheap, but I ordered on line and it was here next day, Bloody good service.
  24. just to go back to the original question. My oil pressure used to drop off at idle, when warm, to Zero, then stay there popping back up to the first mark when it fancied it, no problem when cold, right up to 3/4. I knew I had good pressure cause I just rebuilt the engine!! Changed the sender unit last week, £90 from Nissan, perfect now. At idle when hot just between first mark and half way.
  25. Changed fuel filter today and filter was full of a brown silt like stuff. Looked like rust. Me's thinking that after 17 years there must be quite a lot of s**t in the tank. So, what do you recon guys, is it worth cleaning out tank and replacing the pump? If so, I've seen those uprated ones on Ebay, any good? I'm thinking that all that stuffs gone through the pump and can't of done it any good. Off to Spain in the old girl soon and can't be doing with some french bloke charging me 500 euros to whack a pump in!!! :headvswal Jase
