I have to say that charges like Dangerous driving, Driving without due care etc, wind me up as, as I see it, the charge is open to the interpretation of the police driver following who, obviously, has little or no knowledge of that particular driver, car etc and so is in no position to judge whether the manouver is dangerous particularly as he is behind the vehicle in question, his perception of events is totally different even without him concentrating on his own diving. The last time I was stopped the cop accused me of dangerous driving as I had "endangered the life of himself and his passenger by forcing them to follow me at excesive speeds". He was less than impressed when i had a lok at the back of the car for the tow rope as I could see no other way that I forced him to follow me, particularly as, when he flashed his lights I puled over immediately. I wonder was it anything to do with the fact that I ridiculed his "calibrated speedo" when he claimed I was doing twice the speed limit? Or maybe the fact that when he claimed "I'm a reasonable man and I accept that everyone speeds" I asked him to define how much over the speed limit was a reasonable speed, so that I knew I wouldnt be nicked in future?

I personally would add new pistons to the list, if your checking for damage, you may need a set anyway, but a set of forged are not that more expensive and it means you shouldnt ever have to open her right up in the future

Can only shake my head in sorrow at this. I like most of my generation grew up with a dad who was not adverse to the odd well placed slap, coppers who were willing and able to give you a dig and teachers who used corporal punishment (leather belt in my case) and feel that it kept me on the straight and narrow (ish). The problem, as stated, is that we are now in the middle of the second generation of people who reach the age of maturity never having been put in their place by any form of authoity. So even if we put things right now, it would be another two generations before we saw the effects. My view is that large gentlemen of a handy nature should be recruited ( a la jury duty) and on their sixteenth birthday, or as soon after as possibe, all young guys should be presented for a bl00dy good right hander. Just to let them know that their are consequences in life, and that there are people who can and will put you in your place if you step out of line. As it stands you can go from the cradle to the grave without ever coming across an authority figure who will do more than give you an ASBO (or medal of honour as it seems to be known) a work order ( which you will never turn up for) borstal/ prison ( where for the first time in your scabby life you will have 3 hots and a cot and someone to teach you how to screw the system (and probably give you a drug habit if you didnt have one))

Doh, misrerad that that you were talking headsets. I use two gps, one plugs into the cf slot on my pda the other is generic i bought off ebay, cant tell the difference between either of those (both cost ne circa 40 quid) and the Tomtom unit which costs around 99 quid. Ebay is your friend

Just be wary, although it is 30 quid and non endorsable, they can make a case for driving a car without a registration mark, and get you all sorts of grief through that, with the possibility of your pride and joy ending up on a Q plate.

All I can say bud, is been there. Binned my blade in 98 at donnington aand spent six weeks in plaster. Strange thing is I got out of plaster and had the maddest trip to Assen to watch the WSB, put the bike away for the worst of winter, first sunny day = leathers on out with the lads and bottled it on my first fast right hander!! Took me a while to get over it as well felt as if the rear was sliding out, but only on right handers (same as the corner I binned it) but like said above, you get over it, it may slow you down a bit for a while, but its no bad thing. And blow outs of any kind are very rare now. Take your time, build your confidence back up and youll be flying again soon :)

got to go with chris on this one, and go further and say it would probably need more than one of the three bolts to snap for the downpipe to "rattle". I would put my money on a vibrating heatshield, which you can either cut off, or tack weld together (it is filled with a fibrous heat sheild material which gets shaken into a loose pwder and drops out, causing your heat sheild to be loose around the down pipe)

this thread make me laugh. I read the talk about wanting some big power zeds out there to show people the car. If this guy is producing this power (at the crank or the wheel) it is only to the good of people driving a zed, if he isnt, then he is only kidding himself. But why shoot him down? it is unlikely that it can be proven either way and, as said, all dynos read different with different characteristics. Well done mate, if it is genuine.

Try asking auto glas for the glass from a uk car, its a different colour of tint, but it wouldnt matter much to me.

I believe that if the belt snapped at low revs, you can be lucky and the pistons will clear the valves without damage but, if the engine is under load or at high revs it is less likely. If the pistons have already hit the valves, you dont have much to lose by fitting a new cambelt, setting it up correctly and trying it. Wish you luck. Ps lose the caps bud :)
