  1. Sounds great mate. I just have a crackly wireless tuned to medium wave. lol.
  2. lol I get about 320 on Optimax with mixed driving. 340+ if I'm careful, 250 if I cane it / drive round town. It's an NA though.
  3. Scratchies or fruities?

Sorry to hear this mate - I hate getting tradesmen in cos you know half of them will dick you about. One of my best friends is a plasterer based in Cardiff but I'm pretty sure he'd go to Abba. I'll happily give you his details if you want. If you're not happy with his work or the price he charges, I'll bring my Zed over and you can have it. He's an honest guy and a clever one too.
  5. LOL, I'm a journalist (so I do blag quite a lot of stuff!) When I was starting several years ago I worked on a local newspaper and reported the magistrates court (among other things like village school fetes and vegetable growing competitions!) I saw a lot of driving cases. How you behave on the day seemed to make a BIG difference. They don't like cocky, mouthy, arrogant or expensive clothes / jewellery. They do like humble, apologetic people who look a bit like them/their nephew etc. It makes sense really but defendents used to get carried away on the day and give it 'the big I am' and it'd cost them!
  6. Sorry to hear that mate. Don't go into court with that attitude. Be humble, dress smart but not too fasionably, be really sorry for speeding, make out you're glad you got caught as it showed you the error of your ways etc etc etc - good luck! (got a letter of intended nicking from Beds police myself today for speeding - d'oh)
  7. How about a Lion King DVD and some sweets? :x: :D
  8. I've been saving my vote. I'm open to bribery with additional pics of contestants. Obviously naughtier ones please.

My auto LWB NA goes ok. I've beaten a Sapphire Cosworth (on the brakes as we were pretty similar on power) and also a Civic type R in a straight drag race. Equally a BMW 330D 'did' me in a roll-on from about 60mph. I took mine to santa pod once and did 15.8 on my very first run which isn't bad (but not brilliant, I know). I think once you get over 200bhp it's pretty much down to driver skill / bottle on the road in anything other than a straight line. The fastest I've ever been driven on the road (in terms of cornering) was in an 8 valve, 2 litre, G-reg Cavalier. There's always someone in a faster car. Don't worry what the lads with the shagged out, chavved up twin turbos say!
  10. Don't give up yet - try lots of angles. Bear in mind pros may be using filters and reflectors (which can be coloured / tinted as well) too.
  11. Might well knock up a set of these at the weekend. JD
  12. I work with motoring magazines (same photographers that do Car, Max Power etc) and they all use digital not film - they are slightly more expensive cameras than amateurs use! As someone (was it CJ?) said time of day makes a big difference. I've found the last hour before dusk works well - the light has a golden tone. Midday light can be too white and have a bleaching effect. Also, experiment with the angle you let the light strike the car and where you photograph it from. Flips in paint are hard to capture but it can be done. I don't think they ever look as good as they do in real life though - even with a pro £30K camera set up.
  13. In that price range, I'd consider ALL those (and maybe more). Buy whichever you see a really nice example of - don't be picky which make / model it is. IMHO anyway!
  14. LOL That's mother nature weeding out the weak and infirm, that is. Seriously though booze won't help you fight it off. Try not drinking tonight (I know it's hard!)
  15. When women have a problem they don't want: 1) you to tell them you have a bigger problem which trivialised theirs or... 2) you to offer a solution to their problem They want sympathy (or a good seeing to). Am very very sorry to hear about your Bizzie Lizzies Speeddemon. Maybe get some early flowering pelargoniums in to make up for the loss. I know it's not the same but what can you do?
  16. Smoothrite. It's the answer to (virtually) everything.
  17. I could take my duvet down there and ring it out in a bucket from them. I'd get a fortune.
  18. FPMSL! I had a Suzuki RMX250 that vibrated like mad. It could tease a log out in minutes, without fail. Quite awkward sometimes!
  19. Freelance motoring journalist. Just doing motorbike titles right now.
  20. There is a huge RAF air museum at Duxford. They have regular shows and fly loads (I mean loads) of cool planes. People go and park up in surrounding lanes. We could meet in a lane, have a BBQ and see the planes for nawt.
  21. First of all, only about 1 in 5 camera flashes are followed by a 'notice of intended prosecution' so you'll probably hear no more about it. The one flash / two flash thing is irrelevant - they can all work. If you've been driving in the UK on a foreign licence for two years you should get a UK licence I think.
  22. They never respond to me either. When I go to meets, they all hide (true!). But i still love 'em! Stick with it babe! ;)
  23. You Kents won't be so clever when they ban you from using hosepipes!
  24. We used to have lots of witch hunts in the old days. Ahh... the old days.... With 'imaginary friend' Craig, Tony Lack, Matty, Ralph, Potski and my dad, Tom Bosley. We'll not see the likes of those days again. I didn't mean you were a witch BantamB - although your avatar pic looks slightly 'witchy' (that nasty looking rabbit thing, not your young lady friend!).
  25. Thrice and once the hedgepig whined Harpier cried: "tis time, tis time". :duffer:
