  1. THanks chaps - lots of good advice there. I've downloaded AVG as a) most people recommended it and b) AndyP broadly speaking seems to know the answer to most questions. I take it I can remove Norton with the 'remove programme' function now? Cheers!
  2. I bought a laptop a few months ago and the free Norton has run out today. What's the best anti-virus software I can get? Are there any free ones that are good? Cheers!
  3. Oops, didn't see that. I'd be tempted by a BMW 730 diesel, Phaeton or an S-class for that sort of money. Or an E55 AMG.
  4. Have to agree with Royal - an NSX.
  5. Metalic Midnight Purple - like some Skylines. Paint code LP2. Late ones only. Very 'old money'. :D
  6. Just seen this! What was the show I missed? If it wasn't pregnant lesbians pissing on dwarves, then I'm not interested.
  7. Looks very nice. For £3000 you got a great deal on a clean, cared for, unmolested car.
  8. I've never tried. Run it an Santa Pod though which has to be a good indicaor. Mine's not that fast as it's 2+2, auto, NA, targa! To do an accurate 0-60 you need some sort of clever gadget or you could easily be 0.5 sec out or more with a stopwatch as could anyone doing it that way. Even if you are a bit out, your time suggests your car is working fine though IMHO.
  9. Yep, second that - your car is probably fine. Get a demon semi-pro driver and they'd probably shave 0.5 secs of that on a good surface. A stopwatch and speedo isn't that accurate though.
  10. I'd expect poor fuel consumption round town but if I was getting those sorts of figures on open roads I'd have to wonder.
  11. £40 = about 38 litres (assuming you're on super / optimax). = 8.3 gal So you're getting about 12mpg then. Surely there's something wrong with your car?

Sorry to hear about your arm mate. A bright side is you might be able to sign on the disability and coin it in forever - surely the holy grail of modern living.
  13. Would you let me know where the Advans are if you don't want them? I might be interested and I've always liked the design. Cheers!
  14. Good one - never much fun moving but great to be settled into the new gaff.
  15. Dyno or drag strip. I think a drag strip's cheaper! Dyno runs for a bike are about £35 - cars are probably about the same.
  16. 13.6 mpg (approx) Not good but if it was round town / going nuts on back roads not a disaster. If fuel consumption is low, its a sign there is a problem.
  17. DoT is Department of Transport. The number is the spec it has been approved for. DoT 4 is fine for the road. If you go fast, you can get a 'racing' DoT 4 with a high boiling point. There are problems with DoT 5 - I can't remember all of them but to do with mixing with existing fluid, contaminating and other things. I once spent 15 minutes on the phone to Silkolene's chief R&D chemist and he insisted DoT 4 was the one to go for (he races a hill climb car too I think).
  18. Do a search. But a good dot 4 is better than dot 5.
  19. It's getting like the good old days. Next thing we'll see Herman Munster, Postki, and my dad Tom Bosley.
  20. Looks like a nice clean example. It's a good choice - be careful at first and enjoy it.
  21. It's great you know what you want - so many people have no idea so you're well ahead of them already. The problem is there's quite a few bad cars out there so it's advisable to be flexible and get a good car even if it's not the perfect spec. Just my opinion anyway!
  22. To be honest, that's quite specific. You might wait two or three years to find one exactly like that which is a decent, straight car too. Why not consider compromising on a few points - maybe ones you can change with your own mods?
  23. I don't think a grounding kit will help. This is a static charge that builds, not the car's electrics.
  24. Mate, my 200sx used to do that to me. I never figured out exactly wha caused it. Maybe something to do with the weather and what clothes I was wearing. It was certainly worse in the summer.
