So good news is, clots in the neck are small and not a cause for concern, heart scan is all clear with no damage currently but it can in theory still happen until infection is cleared. Bad news, antibiotics is a 4 week course in hospital. Surgeon thinks the stoma is to far 'upstream' in the intestine which is why the output is high as there isn't enough intestine to absorb everything, they need to move it down. Only way is to go back in, while in they would remove the perforated pouch and reset the stoma which should in theory finish all the surgery I need. It's a big op that can take up to 7 hours but doesn't want to be done with mrsa so need to clear that, 2 weeks recovery for that op so could be in another 6 weeks so 12 in total. Oh well...

Test result from the bloods shows the mrsa is in my blood stream as well, showed on all tests :-( In a room on my own now. Scan of the neck show inflammation around the jugular vein and some small blood clots, had a down day today. Heart scan results not back but nurse says normally no news is good news, if it had caused major damage they report back quickly?

Sorry to bore you all with more updates lol Some of the test results for the temperature came back today.... I always worry when the doc says to the wife you can stay for this and the doc sits down at the end of the bed, the blood sample from the line in my neck shows something but its not 'grown' enough yet for a full diagnoses but similar family to mrsa family. Swab from wound on stomach is mrsa positive. F@@@ing great So need ultra sound scan on my neck and heart as it can damage the heart but they don't think it has plus a TWO week course of iv antibiotics so I'm not going anywhere soon :-( Even the doc has acknowledged its not gone well for me but keep smiling!

5 weeks and still in, not going to plan at all. Still a temperature of 39.5C so the line in my neck has been taken out as think that might be the source of infection, so means i might have another put in. I'm sure there is and end in sight somewhere!

Thanks folks. Well Monday they decided to put me on tpn feed as weight loss was continuing. Not a nice thing, while I was awake and only with a local they put a line into my jugular vein. No pain but one of the most uncomfortable hours of my life! It is helping with nutrition as they feed 2ltrs of this mix straight into the blood stream. Some good news is output has slowed today which is a positive, have picked up a throat infection tho and I'm really tired but there has been some progress at least.

Well at that price they'll be from China so pay your money take your chance. Interestingly hoses from there contain a lot less silicone than UK ones so the technical benefits are less. Over there they bulk out the material with fillers to reduce costs so the shiny finish doesn't last as long. Interestingly they say they use polyester and nomex, you only use one or the other depending on the temperature of the set up so dont mix the two, so do they know what they are doing? Just a few observations.

Last few days have been agony, back on morphine to get me through. Output is still way to high, on a special hydrating fluid that is strictly limited to 1 litre a day, 500ml free fluid, food and that's it with the drip as well but still washing through. Something isn't right and pain of food moving through is worse than the pain last week. Only thing they will do is pain killers which double up to slow the bowel, today they doubled the dose as no results. Fluid chart shows lost 2ltrs yesterday compared to intake and today's output isn't any lower. As things are just washing through food absorption is very good as lost another 3kg this week a d now down from 11st 10 to 10st in 5 weeks. The wife has been great in supporting me but the stress is taking a toll on both of us, she can't sleep and is worried sick. I just don't know how long I can keep going mentally before I go in to a meltdown, I think we are going to ask for a meeting in private with the consultant next week as a ward round 5 minute update doesn't really help.

Anyone able to measure the sizes of a standard side mount cooler? Found some Vw ones this size for about £25-30 each total l=35cm w= 14cm h= 20cm core l= 20cm w= 11cm h= 15cm How does this compare to std zx ones? The Vw ones are very efficient.

Well still struggling, the new drug got things going well and truly, now things are going too much. I should output 1000ml a day but last two days was 2600&3700ml so they started a new drug to slow it down. That worked to well and it all stopped so been in agony today with it backed up. So no drugs of any type until tomorrow where I guess they start again until they get it right. It's tough as I'm still in pain either way.

Apologies for yesterday's rant, had a bad day. Seems now they've got things going they are 'going' too much. Should output a out 1000ml but yesterday it was 2600ml hence feeling so ill, with fluid in my fluid balance was still 900ml the wrong way! Feeling better today and now start meds to slow things down, ironic after 2 weeks of getting them going!

Couple of good days with food and things but writing today off, not good and feel sick as a dog. Enough said :-(

Some discomfort but all seems ok so far and working. Day two of mission 'eating', hospital food never tasted so good lol. Fingers still crossed but looking good so far, only the drip left, ng tube and catheter gone as well. Feeling a lot better so some post whoring might start soon:shifty:

Woohoo, I finally got the all clear to eat, my last proper meal was 3 weeks ago! Soft diet to start a d then build up so if I get through tonight ok then things could be looking up finally

Well still here guys. Not much to report, bowel still not working and still not eaten. I have been moved to another ward the specialises in intravenous feeding as if nothing is going by Monday then they are starting me on that. Lost about stone and a half so far, problem was i didn't have any to lose to start with. Fingers crossed the new drug they've started me on gets things going. Loads to do on the Z to, about the only show I'll make at this rate is jap show finale, anyone want to help as I'm buggered lol!

Well 5 more days of up and down! 9 kg lost so far and still not eating, they really don't want to go in again so are waiting for things to start going. Started a new med yesterday that's supposed to stimulate the small bowel so we'll see how that goes. They've spent 2 days talking about a tpn feed into my neck as haven't eaten for 16 days but again it seems to be a dangling carrot and 'we are thinking about it but not sure' so frustrating and I think Kerry is ready to kick off soon to get some decisions made ! At least with being here so long the wound has healed well and the 26 staples are out !
