  1. Mines a UK on a J in white, J401 SPP but think it came from St Albans
  2. Well, I had in total 3 plugs unplugged, two either side (near to the pcv valves which I assume to be the 02`s) then the one pictured (right in the middle of the car at the back of the bay near the bulk head). I am getting no codes, just code 55
  3. Also, what is this plug? I found this whilst checking my pcv valves the other night
  4. Trouble is, I am getting smoke out of nearside tailpipe when the engine is warm and ambient temp is warm, I first thought its a turbo seal on that side, but, as a friend pointed out it smells more fuel like and is white in colour. I have since plugged my 02`s back in and it seems to be better (as in it can tickover for upto 15 minutes with only a whisp or two of smoke, wheras before it would billow out and wouldnt stop until engine reves rised...
  5. Sorry my mistake, I read the guide wrong. It does have the ecu code reader. I got code 55, that means no fault, correct? As for the 02 sensor bit, I followed this guide: To check O2 sensors 1. While in Mode II, start the engine and warm the engine up. 2. The ECU is now checking the left O2 sensor. Run the engine at 2000rpms for 2 minutes and watch the "Check Engine" light. The light should be blinking constantly. 3. To check the right O2 sensor, turn the screw on the ECU fully clockwise, wait 2 seconds, and then turn back fully counter-clockwise, the ECU will now be checking the right O2 sensor. Run the engine at 2000rpms for 2 minutes while watching the "Check Engine" light. As before, the light should be blinking constantly. 4. The light indicates the signal from the O2 sensor to the ECU. When the light is ON, it is rich. When the light is OFF, it is lean. It should be blinking, which means it is constantly switching between rich and lean. If the light is not constantly blinking, there is something wrong and will require further investigation. 5. Turn the screw on the ECU full clockwise, wait 2 seconds, and turn back fully counter-clockwise. The ECU will be back in Mode 1 So, are my parameters too far out? I assumed it should be clicking in and our from rich and lean quickly... Thanks, Dan
  6. Tested both my 02 sensors last night using the obd2, it is my understanding the check engine light should blink on and off between rich and lean. even after several minutes at 2000rpm it would be lit for a good 30 seconds before it went out for another good 30 seconds and so on. Is this normal? Many thanks Dan
  7. I removed my pcv tonight to see if it was clogged, once removed I shook it and it rattled, this shows its good, correct? Inside the pipe there was a small round metal restrictor, I dont remember this being there when I purchased the new hoses 2 years ago, what is this for, why is it there? Its just pushed in halfway down the tube... Thanks, Dan
  8. I too am keen to follow this thread, I was thinking of getting mine from Z1 but dont like the idea of huge shipping and import tax costs. Also, I beleive brand new ones are worth paying the extra for rather than rebuilt
  9. My car has been smoking from passenger side for some time now, changed pcv valves and it still the same, so was thinking next step is to change the turbocharger, are these best being done in pairs or can one be done? Where is the best place to purchase a new stock turbo or two slightly upgraded turbos? Thanks, Dan
  10. This winter my car is coming off the road to have its sills replaced and rear steering system removed, I have messaged littlebird on ebay re some sills but he has not got back to me, some weeks ago now :( where can I get some from? Also, are the targe drains best being relocated? How and where is the best way to do this? Many thanks, Dan
  11. Ok, cheers guys, I have been looking at a couple of used ones on ebay, where is the best place to get the fitting kit from?? Thanks, Dan
  12. My car has the standard recircs on, is there any benefit to fitting aftermarket bovs such as HKS SSQV`s? Also, is it best to fit 2 or plumb 1 in?? Thanks, Dan
  13. Thanks guys, I tried different combinations but could only get the light to stay on when my leds were off!? Anyway gone with Jeffs diagram now, thanks :)
  14. I have followed this cicuit below and have put in a three prong switch as shown with the hope of illuminating it when my leds are lit (switch in the on position). I can only get the led on the switch to illuminate when the leds are off and the switch is in the off position. Where have I gone wrong? Thanks, Dan
  15. to be honest I havnt checked, but yes that is a good point
  16. Cheers, ah yes, I never noticed your wheels like that ever before, cheers guys :)
  17. I am putting my refurbed standard wheels back on soon, which way round do they go (side)? I have tried to look for pics on the net but they seem to be half one way round and half the other. A pic to show the correct side (rotation) would be great. Thanks
  18. Hmmm looks a big job to someone like me that does, would a oil catch can do the same thing? Is there an easy way of diagnosing turbo seals?
  19. 17psi melted a piston on my Z, Geoff give me the piston back, not sure as a souvenier or a reminder... lol
  20. Ah I see, is it a big job to move them?
  21. Just one side, but that would be the same for either turbo seal or pcv wouldnt it? 1 on either bank!??
  22. Has anyone used a courier and can you recommend one? How much will it cost to courier two tyres from Essex to Staffordshire, tyres are cheap but its collection only unless I can organise a courier Thanks
  23. Only when car is warmed up, level ground or slightly facing downhill. I have had pcv valves fitted but it still does it, if I bring the revs up a bit to say 1500rpm it stops smoking...
  24. Looks like this winter I will be having both sills replaced if I decide to keep the car, where have you guys been having your sills from? Or is it cheaper to get a bodyshop to fabricate them? Many thanks Dan
