Yeah, i sprayed one black and it looks nice till you go up close, its corroded away, looks its age. Might have to bite the bullet

Hi guys, mines missing the passenger part. The guy i bought the car off said he can get it of the guy he bought the car off but he hasnt got back to me yet. Im just wondering if they are readily available and cheap or not? He said he took it out to let the heat under the bonnet escape, but i prefer it to have all the trim it was made with :D Thanks Mark

Because gloss red requires laccuer, and i dont have the confidence to do that on a gravel drive

Who has gloss black skirting. No i want to gloss the bonnet then the roof bars. Like so

No, i said i wanted to buy a rusty one to do it to, im not going to rust this as its not got a spot on it, it would be stupid to give it some. I have been looking on the for sale threads and on ebay for that plastic part but no luck as of yet. I can do things like welding in metal and filler myself, i can even spray myself, i just find it daunting that my car is red. Ive not used 2 pack paint before. I would love a respray, but i really cant afford it, i can barely afford to insure it. I dont want to add anything to it that will fall off, im not going to put a kit on or anything, i still want the car to have the same lines and the performance that it came with. If id said i want a carbon fibre bonnet bet i would have had loads on my side :D Think what im going to do is just gloss black bonnet, i can spray that and leave it at that for now. Ill need to attack the wings and bumper at some point though, the laccuer is nearly all gone. ps. there is no gold on my car, its ford signal yellow :tt2: Its an atomic sign, ive always had one on my cars somewhere.

Ive never had a vw now will i, Maybe the term rat has spooked you all, did i not say that i would keep replacement pannels for when the time comes to sell, i wont be doing any permenant changes.

Another good point, i did want opinions, i just didnt think that i would get the ratio to fores and against that i did. Its ok, I will do with the car as i wish, i will keep it nice, just add my touch. Wether that means slapping some rust or matt on i dont know yet, im still playing with the options.

I mean bodywork wise, i dont mind tinkering, but its the body that gets seen and if thats not up to scratch it doesnt matter

Your all missing the point, you think that a rat is a shit heap, when what im trying to do is make a car different. I like aspects of rat, i dont like roof racks, shit heap cars, but i like matt paint, and bright colours, i would like a car that i dont have to worry about, a car i can lean on without damaging the paint. I think its just more practical.

What the glue remover does? Ill give my mums nail polish remover a go tomorrow, see how it goes.

First off, im no chav! I just like to be different, no one had ratted a Renault 5 and no one has ratted a Z. Im not going to go the real rat route and put a roof rack full of crap ontop, chop the springs and purposely create rust, i just want to make the car my own. If i can get cheap pannels to do different colours i will, i will always do mods that can either be easily changed back, or have a backup pannel for when the time comes to sell, (not that i intend to for a very long time) Second, i would love to have the car in radiant red, but as its already been pointed out, its like a patchwork quilt, every pannel is a different colour, im just saying the worst of it is on the front and i cant afford a respray, so i can either do it red again, or i can be different. My initial plan was to matt the front end and leave the rest of the car nice, but now im thinking more of just glossy black bonnet and filter pannel. Incidently, does anyone know how to treat peeling laquer, does it all need to be taken off and reapplied?

My dad found some silicone adhesive remover, might give that a go, thanks for the tip, ill see if i can find some of that.

Thought id revive this thread. I got myself a nice zed so dont worry, no rusting will be done. But it is red and the paint on the front end seems to have faded a hell of a lot. I was thinking along the lines of this :D And to add my touch Let the flaming continue :D

Ive decided to paint the rear part of the spoiler gloss black as its matt at the moment and doesnt look nice. I want it to blend in with the lights like the cars without the spoiler look. I was wondering if anyone has done this, if so, how did they get the bloody glue off the back? Ive used thinners, petrol and white spirit and nothing seems to be breaking through. All the colour has come off but its left glue behind. What did nissan use!!

As title really, i dont know if its just bonded to the boot lid with a couple of bolts either side or if i need to take the inside boot lining out to get to more bolts. I hope its just bonded, i dont want holes in my boot. Thanks Mark
