I just had another look, theres actually 2 more o2 sensor looking plugs on the other side. When i bought the car the guy said it had a JD ecu from the usa in it, i dont know what that is but it seems to go pretty well. Thats put my mind at rest on wobbly wheels then thanks.

This hicas has definately been taken out but theres no bar in place of it. Theres nothing without a bolt on it, nothing looking like it should be attatched to something else. Im so confused with this, if i jack it up will i be able to turn the wheel by hand?

Cheers groover, does that mean i need to plug the o2 sensor in somewhere? does it go to the exhaust? Ill get some pics of the rear up today. My friend had a skyline with hicas and he said he couldnt see a similar setup under my car, and he bought a lockout bar also, bit worried now

Hi. Im just getting to know my new car and was wondering what has been removed or is missing around my car. This is on the driver side, Passenger side next to the battery, This is under the engine, I think this is the AIV, its got an aftermarket exhaust with no space for it. If it is, is it ok tucked away like this? This is behind the spare wheel well, And i think this is to do with the hicas, ive got a hicas light on the dash and i cant see the mechanism under the car, or a lockout bar Im new to these cars so your help would be greatly appreciated Thanks Mark

Ok, thanks, ill have to check the power steering fluid then. Im not asking about the actual fog light button, ive got an aftermarket red switch in the side of the cluster, it doesnt seem to do anything.

Hi guys, i just got myself a beast of a zed, its immense. But i was after some insight on the lights on the dash. Its got a switch on the right cluster im thinking thats for a rear fog that i dont have. When i drive its got HICAS illuminated, does that mean its on and working or does it need attention. When i turn ignition on i get a gearbox light with check through it, does that mean, check it or it needs to be checked. And what do the 2 buttons next to off on the air con part do? Its ok, i found the problem, someone had screwed it shut because the latch doesnt work. But taking it apart i found the little spring sitting there :D This thread is pointless now and can be locked Thanks

done that, it didnt really do anything, so ive tugged at it a bit, now the right hand is down and out, but the left side is still stuck. The flip mechanism isnt doing anything so ill need to fix that when its all out.

Hi guys, does anyone have any advice on getting a glovebox open, the lock turns and seems to be working but the catch itself wont spring anything. Has this happened before? Thanks Mark

On my BM i had a similar issue, it was blatently a hydraulic tappet noise but we couldnt tell why. It sounded worse near the underside (similar because the engine is pointing towards the back) anyway, a strip down and rebuild later i found a hell of alot of gunk and silicone in the oil pickup tube in the sump. It wasnt getting the pressure to the top of the engine. Im not sure how relevant to this engine it is but i hope that helps a bit.

Ok, whatever i get, make sure its got a string engine then :D, seems the other way with the little cars, hot hatches and stuff, small engines, small costs, big engines, big costs.

I knew a Zed wouldn't be a budget car, but i'm hoping they will be a more resilient engine and not need these overhauls very often :D

I betrayed you all for a minute :blushing: I went to view a GTO with the bottom end knocking. The car was dirt cheap, had a chat with the lads on the forum, they laughed at me, saying its worth £250 tops, and id spend about £2k fixing it. So im back on solid ground and back on Zeds. These arent as expensive as GTO's surely?

Yeah i imagine they will be expensive, thats my only hesitation in getting one. Im going to want to spend money on it, and being a poor student its not ideal. But ive loved them for years and years. Ive been on about getting one for ages, but i can only now get insured, so its finally an option for me

Nah its ok. Its the comunity that helps you out with spares and refurbished parts. Im hoping the ZX world is the same. I imagine the guys that know there stuff on these REALLY know their stuff, these a hell of alot more complicated than the R5, They dont even have an ECU for gods sake :D
