  1. I can't believe this went down without me knowing! Rob why didn't you tell me you were this far south :D I met a few of you today, hassle me to attend next time! :D Next time you see my car it might even have all it's seats, carpet, a stereo, centre console, all sorts :D Rob gutted I missed it, doh!
  2. Hehe :) Awesome to meet so many of you, I was the lanky one pretending to be Mr. Incredible Saturday night ;) Thanks for nice comments on my car, no skill from me though, just bought it in a nice condition and now all I do is wash it, service it, hoover it etc :) Interesting about the car being imported into this country. I will at some point get the inner panel off and possibly spy so later spoiler mounting holes. I guess the first Japanese owner just didn't like the interim spoiler and fitted the old one, then sold the car when the 99 model was released. The spoiler is also a genuine Nissan one (foam) and still hasn't gone wrong despite its age. As mentioned I only intend to 99 spec the outside (seeing as the interior is already there as of 98), new springs, nice wheels. Car needs paint so that comes first. Maybe decat it, but I prefer having a quiet exhaust tbh (nearly ran a few of you over in the field). Having seen all the other Zs though I've really got to up my game in a few areas!! Great event, roll on the next!
  3. Sorry for thread hijack, this is what I'm trying to build at the moment, or something along these lines. http://russtaylor.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2008/08/norton-commando-cafe-racer.jpg
  4. Yeah I love my old TL, will never sell it :) Just gonna start a noisey vtwin collection instead, love grunting around on them lol.
  5. Hey, Yeah love the Toyos, never really seem to let me down :) Seem to be lasting ok so far as well! You can still spin it up in the wet if you try obviously, but they aren't a "SUPRISE NO GRIP!" kinda tyre, if you start to lose it to me it seems quite progressive. Really stick well in the dry round corners as well definitely. I'd buy them again anyway :)
  6. Thanks for the heads up Si, his website still seems to be down though, maybe I can make him a new reliable one and get a good deal on wheels :) Same for me Legrath, mine will remain on the stock alloys (which I actually like, shame they're a bit small) until 'the ones' come up for sale :) Picked up some Rays at Japfest and they were insanely light!
  7. Hi, Thanks for the link Si, site seems to be down at the moment, and based in the states? Radron, yeah it's my '97 TL :) Love the bike, will keep it forever even when I get another!
  8. Hi, I'm on the look out for some quality 18" alloys, BBS, Advan, Work etc etc. I've bumped into a few Japanese trader websites which can import these for me. Can anyone recommend a used wheel dealer? It takes forever for something to come up on ebay. Cheers
  9. Well that was a disappointment :( From what the guy said it's actually this http://www.blitz-uk.co.uk/ProductItem-448.aspx an A/F ratio analyser. It doesn't offer any more control, just means on the boost controller I can display the a/fr as well??? My boost controller says you can have 4 different set ups, and one that's linked directly to the map analyser. I was kinda hoping this would do something clever looking at my fueling to protect it from running lean, or maybe automate partly how much boost I can safely make. Either way, I asked about using the optional sensor harness to use the existing lambda sensors on the car and he couldn't remember. I'll e-mail Blitz USA and see what they recommend for the '32 :)
  10. :) I *think* I read in Forced Induction and Performance Tuning (Graham Bell) that some turbo ecus rely only on a MAF for the fueling, others on just a MAP, so to have both is quite nice. I'll ring Blitz UK at lunch time and just ask them :)
  11. If you google "boost sensor" you get 302'000 odd results, whereas "map sensor" gets 734'000 results, so I'd say map sensor was the more common term ;) :p
  12. Andy: yeah isn't the standard boost gauge controlled by a map sensor? I can't find it at the moment, but I have been told and read somewhere on the net the 16bit ECU uses one. Quavey: MAP = manifold absolute pressure :)
  13. Hi, Have been reading through my Blitz boost controller manual, and apparently I can connect it to a Blitz MAP Analyzer Now apparently the later VG30DETT has a MAP sensor as well as MAF, for the 16bit ECU (not the boost gauge as I don't have one). If so I could possibly install one of these puppies, which might be sexy time... But I cannot find one for sale anywhere, anyone seen them?? Cheers
  14. Yeah, my mate messaged me this morning confirming he was able to drive it to work :D So everyone's a winner! Paul, no not that I noticed, I think you cured it ta :) I do remember a smell at some point, but probably more the car warming up/running rich to start and me reversing through the emissions :) I'll keep an eye on it. Rob, so you don't need to worry, do you know the anti diesel thing matey had fitted in the fuel filler neck, Paul noticed that it was a little high and stopped the cap from going in fully it seemed :) Have removed it for now, just gotta remember when I'm at the pumps that it's not a diesel haha :)
  15. Not to steal people away from this site, but there's lots of 240/260 info over on the Z Club if you want to search through. I have a 240z project I might sell, £1k for the stripped shell and most parts, cost me £3k before I took it apart. Needs lots of resto work :) Just need to remember, Datsuns weren't made of virgin steel, nor were they properly weatherproofed, so just about every single one has had a bit of welding at least or really needs it :) Oh and do a youtube for Darius 240z, he's the reason I got into Zs, blown SBC in a 1000kg car? Yes please :)
  16. I'm really grumpy, and I'm having to wear sunglasses because I've got two bloodshot eyes, I look a bit like terminator... heh At least my old car is sorted and my mates happy :)
  17. Cheers guys :) The shorty slicktop is a completely different driving experience to my lwb. I much prefer it, turns in faster, seems less weighty when you're trying to haul it up. Marginally less stable at speed maybe, but because it feels lighter it doesn't seem so dramatic. Can't wait to go to the Combe in it next year to see how it compares. In an ideal world I'd have one of each, keep seeing a sunny day and thinking "roof out, roof out!" then realising I can't :) Also Paul and Legrath confirmed it's got VVT :) BTW I got that radiator in, 12pm we started the car again, 30 min drive, I was in bed by 3.30 this morn lol. Cheers for sorting out the parts for that. I can confirm if you have skinny arms like me you can change a rad without having to get underneath it at all!
  18. Really nice to meet you mate! Funny getting to your place just to find the were suddenly five of us chatting bikes lol :) I promise to look after her lol, wanted to take off my shoes and drive in my slippers this morning to keep it clean hehe. Not to be too smug, but I'm really bloody pleased for myself lol, trying not to get too overexcited in case I tempt fate, better find me some Z meets to attend again! Cheers :D
  19. Hated madasafish, love BT, no grief for me, router occasionally freezes, otherwise fast service for me.
  20. Hi yeah, that seems about right. Sometimes on full throttle when you've been nailing it say on the motorway for a while it sorta cuts out so no power for half a second and then continues on again. The o2 sensor is stuck at 3.4v on the left and conzult says it's saying it's lean. Cold running and midrange is where it's wrong and top end power, doesn't want to max out on the motorway. Car still seems to go alright though, but I've stopped driving now I know for sure somethings odd. Trying to get a tool tomorrow from the snap on man to get the bloody sensor out!
  21. In case anyone was wondering I appear to have a dodgy o2 sensor which was causing my power problems :)
  22. Yeah that is a v sexy car! So is that a grey and not the silver? Looks pretty classy. I think given a choice that's exactly how I'd like a 300 to look, maybe slight variation on the wheels, otherwise perfect and not too in your face, proper street sleeper. Add about 800bhp and insane lol :D
  23. That's reassuring thanks guys :) Trying to sort an o2 sensor for mine atm, was quoted £120+ ish, sounds right? Ahhh just the man, Paul I tried to ring you today lol, do you have any used but working o2 sensors for sale please? I'm looking to fix my car but if really they're the sorta thing I should buy new then I'll have to do that. Oh and I'll give you £99, I'll bring the trailer round tomorrow ;) Dunk you have pm :) Lee I saw that slicktop, very nice indeed. Again shame it's not a TT. I know I could pay for a full respray, but to do it properly then the whole car would have to be stripped which is a job I really don't want :) I could get an NA and covert to TT, but what's the point? I know this is car pervy, but the vin plate would always say it's not born a TT. I really like my car despite it's faults so only want to change if it it's a definite step forward for me, not sideways :) Plus to do all this I've got to sell my car to a mate, and this can go very wrong two ways. My currently very reliable and happy car goes wrong on him (that scares me lol) or I sell it, never find a swb for sale, and cry for the next year trying to replace my current car... Anyway seems they are about if I have patience :)
  24. See your blue one is also very nice ;) I think it's because I already have a series 3, and don't really want to change that. Looking at it, the difference between a 2 and 3 is err nothing much??? Maybe I can go for a 2? Either way...
  25. Hi all, Might be selling my car, but only if I can replace it with a CZ32. I've been talking to Takehito of F-S-Auto and he says he hasn't seen a SWB Slicktop Manual Series 3+ TT in Silver, Black, or White (not pearl) in months and months. Now he said if I went for a different colour (possible respray) or an Auto and he converts it to Manual I'll increase my chances. Any importers here or people that watch Autotrader et al more than me ever see these come up? Would an auto to manual conversion be as pukka as a born manual car? Full resprays, that sounds like pain and something I'd wanna do myself and in this country. Help, decisions decisions!
