  1. Well i'am sorry to say it but the old zed is on ebay. I am back to sea in a couple of weeks and i just dont have the storage space anymore, its a shame, but thats the way it has to be. never mind maybe i'll get another one a good few months down the line, i'll miss the old girl, thats if she sells ofcourse.
  2. thanks all, problem solved. How stupid do I feel. It was the 15A fuse to the divers headlamp blown, just didnt think it would be that as both the main beams were alight, all be it very dim, i might of blown it when i earthed the negative wires from the hid to the chassis, oh well you live and learn, thanks again all is working now.
  3. ok mate i'll go have a look again, and try an locate this relay. cheers
  4. Hello All Right i'll try to explain this as best as i can, having just purchased a HID kit, i thought i'd fit them today, no probs with the passy side works ok, did the drivers side, no good, the light flickers but doesnt stay on, so pluged the drivers side ballast and bulb into the passy side worked ok. Right so then i disconnected both HID and pluged the normal bulbs back in. the passy side works ok tested with meter 12volts no probs, now the drivers side has 12v at the clip but as soon as you plug the bulb in you only get 3 volts and for some reason both the main beams come on all be it very very dim, so somehow they are robbing the power from the drivers side dipped beam, but it only occurs when i plug the drivers side dipped beam bulb in, the passy side has no issues. any ideas coz its really doing my head in, i cant understand why as soon as you plug the bulb in the volts drop to 3 and the bloody main beams come on, even though the stick position is set to off. anyone know where to look????
  5. Hello all been a while. Having just returned to the uk, i thought id dust of the old zed and get it out the garage, Here is whats happening. The forward gears seem ok but i havent really taken it anywhere for fear of it going. When i select park it doesnt want to go in and the selector stick kind of clicks when it goes in, also reverse is not selecting properly it goes in but it is juddering backwards its not particularly smooth at all, like i say forward gears seem to go ok but ive only been round the block and havent been over 30mph, there is though some wining sounds when you first select drive??? any thoughts please, or is it manual conv time as if it f**cked i refuse to put another auto box in the thing i might even just get shot. cheers all.
  6. i suppose it depends on your personal financial circumstances, but generally i would say yes they are expensive to keep on the road, it helps if you know what your looking at before you take the plunge and get one. Fuel costs offcourse are an issue, servicing can be an issue, so do your reasearch to find a garage that has z experience close to you, it helps if you have a basic mechanical understanding as many jobs can be done yourself with advice from the excellent people on this forum. I think the main point is shop around and do your research on the car before you commit to buying, that way you can be sure that the engine/turbos/gearbox etc.... aernt gonna throw their hand in soon as you get round the corner. If you buy an auto you can pretty much be assured that it will go sooner or later, there are ways to prolong the life of the box but i would advize on a manual model given the choice. (awaits to be cut down by the auto lovers)
  7. Put a screwdriver on the top of the injector and listen through the handle, you should hear a distinct clicking. Next measure the resistance across the terminals, should be between 10-14ohms. Let the car sit for half an hour then whip the plugs out and inspect them, if the plugs wet or has a strong smell of fuel then it could well be leaking. Try running some injector cleaner through next time you fill up, although its not really recommended for old injectors, can cause problems.
  8. not necessarily, it could be a fault with an injector on the right hand bank.
  9. we all know zeds sell for peanuts. Id put the car in the garage until you can afford a manual conversion, or break the car youd probably make more money that way.
  10. hmmmm, ive only just changed the tps. I wonder if its because when i first put it in it was reading like 0.63v until i turned it back to 0.45v. Please dont tell me ive fried something as there was a distinct buzzing when i first put the ignition on, but it went as soon as i turned the tps back to spec.
  11. yeah ive started to get this, but only after i ran the diagnostic. ????? Is it still in diagnostic mode or something, i get it when i switch the ignition on???
  12. You shouldnt really need to keep putting water in the exp/overflow tank, check the level in the bottle so its between the marks, and fill from the rad, squeeze the top hose if its silicon periodically to help expell air from the system. Sorry dont mean to be pedantic but you should be using antifreeze mix, especially through the winter. Once all levels are how they should be, if the overflow tank is filling up and dumping coolant then you would have to suspect most likely air in the system.
  13. i'm a fan of the 99spec spolier, where'd you get it from ???
  14. its about time i got these, the difference looks amazing. How hard is it to fit the LED sides and is there any MOT issues ???
  15. Its time i got rid of the foam monstrosity on the back of my zed. Now i dont want anything aeroplane wing like, as imo they look naf. I wondered if anyone had any pics or oppinions on what they have or like????? Cheers All
  16. your idle at normal operating temperature shouldnt be anywhere near that, if you start from cold then 1500 probably about right, as the car gets warmer the revs will drop off eventually to around 750-800rpm. If you got high idle check the voltage at the tps, then check the idle air valve, bit of a pain to get to but the solenoids stick sometimes causing problems.
  17. i had this, tbh i found it very difficult to pin piont the problem hence i renewed coolant temp sensor and plug, tps, fuel filter, overhauled aiv hasnt done it again since then, but i couldnt tell you which one it was i did the lot at once, sorry bud.
  18. the tape it is then, if it flies of though, you lot owe me a new number plate !!!
  19. ahhh, you sure it will stay on at 100 mph ???? if so where do i get them..... halfrauds ???
  20. My front number plate has had it, when i buy a new one, do i have to drill the holes in??? and where can i get hold of the white plastic screw that hold it, mine both snapped
